SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Temple of the Unifying Force
  • Classification: Monastery
  • Location: Chasin City, Commenor
  • Affiliation: Church of the Force
  • Accessibility: Located at the edge of Chasin City, the Temple of the Unifying Force is open to all who wish to make use of its temple services. The library and infirmary are also available to the general public, but there are sections such as the dormitory, refectory, and forge that are off limits save for monks or esteemed Jedi visitors.
  • Description: A great domed basilica dominates view of the monastery along Chasin City's skyline. Like much of the Commenori capital, parts of its exterior are still undergoing reconstruction after Sith occupation. On the basilica's warmer southern flank there is a collection of smaller structures that form a cloister at their center.

POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Great Basilica: A central cavernous hall provides ample space for communal meditation and oratory. Ancient sculptures and frescoes are displayed in a rare show of ostentation, they are in fact imitations of ancient Jedi worship by cultures from across the known galaxy.
  • Temple Cloister: An exposed enclosure flanking the basilica's southern edge, the monastery's cloister is meant to symbolically represent a divide between the temple grounds and the greater world outside. The cloister is often used for martial training.
  • Living Quarters: Adjacent to the basilica, a dormitory and refectory as well as kitchens are gathered into a single structure. These quarters provide all of the barest necessities the monks of the temple require to sequester themselves from society.
  • Grand Library: Housing one of the largest collections of spiritual texts outside a Jedi or Sith institution in the entire galaxy, the library serves both as a repository of ancient knowledge and a means by which the public at large can refine their academic understanding of the Force.
  • Infirmary: Providing medical services free of cost to the people of Commenor for as long as the monastery has been standing, immediately after the occupation the monks quickly converted the entire temple grounds an emergency relief shelter. As a result of this charity, the public have come to know the monastery as a place of healing and compassion.
  • The Forge: Not all monks swear oaths of nonviolence. Celebrating the Church of the Force's controversial martial traditions, the Temple of the Unifying Force once more provides the infrastructure and materials to produce force-imbued blades. Reliant on shipments of madog steel from Tython, new swords are now a very rare and valuable thing.
SECURITY
  • Rating: Medium
Vigilant monks of the monastery will attempt to apprehend anyone found in a restricted area through nonviolent means. Its primary defense is provided by a cadre of Guardians who train within and defend the structure as a Jedi holy site.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

One of the oldest standing Church of the Force institutions in the galaxy, what was born as an underground religious movement centuries ago now flourishes on worlds friendly to the Jedi practically wherever they may be found. The tenants of the Church are clear, even if you lack the spiritual connection, a life lived by the Jedi Code is a life well lived. The earliest monks of the Church, also known as Disciples of the Whills, rose up during a time of darkness and did everything they could to ensure the return of the Jedi as guardians of the people.

Holding public services throughout each day, the monastery and other Church of the Force institutions pass on a significant portion of all donations directly to the Silver Jedi Order. Disciples of the Church also often volunteer to serve as support personnel both for the Antarian Rangers and the Service Corps, staffing Silver Jedi facilities throughout the collective. Although not officially sponsored by the Order, the monks are nevertheless all too willing to serve as one of the Silver Jedi's de facto bureaucratic arms.

Not only does the Temple of the Unifying Force provide services to the people of Commenor, it also serves as the Church's main administrative headquarters outside of the Holy City on Jedha. Humanitarian projects and relief efforts sponsored by the Church are coordinated from within the Great Basilica's orrery.
