PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Despite his gruff reputation, Tekton considers himself a simple and most of the time gentle soul. Like many in his clan Tekton dedicates himself to learning skilled trades, mostly Tekton is an engineer. He enjoys craftsmanship, whether it be his armour, his weapons or his ship. When not on duty he can often be found tinkering with various bits of equipment, while he considers himself something of an artist his artistry is in the smooth functionality of the finished piece, not in any aesthetic value. Even his armour is unadorned with colour or personal flare, beyond his clan sigil on the shoulder pad.

Tekton also has a gentle yet subtle sense of humour. An almost blink and you'll miss it smile, that nevertheless reaches his eyes. In terms of honour Tekton believes Mandalorians are his people and will defend them to the last. In terms of family Tekton does his best as a father and as a man. It was often hard being away from his family being on one battlefield after another, but he tried to stay involved as much as he could.

Tekton leads his men as best he can, always seeing to their needs before his own, whether it be a rallying speech before a battle or a kind word and gentle smile or a swift kick in the ass if they step out of line.

Tekton knows by now he could have risen in the ranks further than Shield Master and there have been whispers of a promotion, as well as take his place in Clan Artez. He's reluctant to do so however preferring a life of simple yet honest service to one of power.

STRENGTHS

Combat- A Mandalorian through and through, Tekton has fought for most of his life being adopted by Clan Artez when he was eight and been training ever since and fighting since he was fifteen.

Leadership- Despite his aversion to power Tekton is a good leader whether it be his men, his family or his clan. His philosophy is simple listen to the facts as they are presented, then make the call.

Engineer- Whether it be Ships, Weapons or Armour, Tekton enjoys tinkering with pieces of equipment, he finds it relaxing and soothing.

Force Sensitive- Like all Koran Tekton is force sensitive, unlike Jedi or Sith however Tekton takes the Mando view that the force is a tool, one to be respected of course like any craftsman should respect the tool they're working with but a tool nonetheless. As such Tekton believes in utilising all the tools available to him despite some individual prejudice from some other Mandalorians.

WEAKNESSES

Military Minded- Stiff and uncompromising. Tekton often comes at problems with a military lends, particularly conflict. Not the most diplomatic of people, he's a creature of his environment and habit. This creates some problems in any situation that requires more than the direct approach.

Controlling- Tekton considers a degree of control necessary in military leadership. Unless he's given direct orders otherwise he finds it hard to give it up.

Perfectionist- Most evident in his engineering work Tekton is a perfectionist, every detail has to be perfect and functioning.

Distant- Tekton doesn't have very many people truly close to him, he does his duty, serves and leads as he sees necessary, but it's rare for him to truly open up to someone or connect. Even his family feels a degree of distance from him.

HISTORY

Clan Artez-Tradesmen, Construction, Farmers, Engineers, Mechanics, Doctors. Not the most warlike of clans, though still Mandalorian at heart able to take up arms to defend their people. Known for supporting infrastructure in warzones, and refugee zones.

Tekton was born on Haruun Kal his people were herders, farmers, other than occasional raids by the Balawai. Tektons birth father died in one of those raids while he was young. He had never even heard of the Mandalorians until one day a warrior came to their village, his armour was strange, and he had no connection with the Force yet he was a fierce warrior. Abeird Artez was his name, Tekton can't remember if he was challenged or challenger, but he defeated the greatest warrior in his clan, easily. Abeird fell in love with Tektons mother Gora and over the course of a summer married her and adopted Tekton.

Life with Abierd as a father was different, strict, disciplined, structured, organised. Yet there were also moments of serenity, calm, peace. Tekton learnt just as much on the workbench as he did with the weapons Abierd insisted he create himself.

As a force user Tekton had to reconcile himself with the prejudice that some Mandalorians had towards the force and those who wielded it. Tekton couldn't do anything about that it's who he was and it was foolish to deny such a central part of himself. He did however have a more practical perspective then the sophistry of Jedi or Sith. The Force was an integral part of him, but then so was his muscles it would be foolish not to develop them or worse deny them, yet there was no need to proscribe any mystical nonsense or code of life that was not of his own choosing.

Growing up in Clan Artez Tekton learned that a warrior was only as good as his tools. Everyone in Clan Artez was encouraged to learn a particular trade with skill, so that they would not have to depend on war and conflict for employment, however necessary it was to defend oneself and ones clan neither was it wise to seek a life of constant warfare without purpose.

When he was fifteen Tekton set off on his own, not as a teenage rebellion but as part of his verd'goten. It was a life changing experience, afterwards Tekton set off on his own. Equal parts engineer and warrior, bartering his way on ships across the galaxy as both, always maintain himself with discipline and decorum, yet somewhat aloof from whatever crew he happened to be serving on.

While serving on a ship of Naboo Diplomats, Tekton fell in love with a Naboo Handmaiden. It was the first time another way of life even remotely appealed to Tekton, not just the elegance, but the artistry, even their ships were designed aesthetically. It was a romance that was doomed to fail neither of them could give up their culture for the other. Tekton does not regret it however and remembers it fondly, how could he not when it gave him a beautiful daughter Mesh'la.

Tekton stayed on Naboo as an Engineer for the first five years, to help raise their daughter. After that they split time, with Mesh'la spending half the year with her father, half with her mother. Tekton aboyed the Resol'nar raising his daughter in the Mandalorian way while she was with him.

When the Mandalorian Protectors came along Tekton obeyed the call and with it the resol'nar. Tekton joined their ranks and served faithfully as a Journeyman Protector as a ruus'alor rising to alor'ad. When it fell he knew he would not be welcome in the Neo-Crusaders nor did he wish to be. In fact the entire Clan Artez was deemed dar'manda by the Neo-Crusaders. The Clan decided if one of it's members who had brought no shame to their clan was not welcome then none of them would be. This was Clan Artez, this was Mando'a.

They stayed out of it, even fighting off a few overzealous Neo-Crusader bounty hunters who had a hatred of both force users and dar'manda.

It wasn't until the rise of the Third Mandalorian Empire that Tekton and the Clan decided there was a Manda'lor worth following. The clan headed the call and as an act of service selected Tekton to join the military, he did his duty and joined the Supercommandos. Tekton was made a Shield Captain, he has served faithfully ever since.
