PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION

  • Classification: Drug

  • Method of Consumption: Injection / Inhalation

  • Average Life: 30 minutes

  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: No nutritional value. Severe allergic reactions found in 2.5% of users in clinical studies. Local muscle spasms found in many users at the site of administration or toxin's introduction into the body. Tectox is designed as a rapid-antidotal agent that slows the flow rate of airborne t toxins into the body through a minor sedative effect while partially neutralizing the toxin through the use of gas-binding agents.
SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Mild Sedative

  • Anti-toxin

  • Modular administration methods: Can be injected intramuscularly or through inhaled through aerosol spray
Strengths:

  • Mild Sedative: The Sweetblossom extract combined with Guilea provides a mild sedative effect, keeping users fully conscious and alert, but also calmer and less anxious.

  • Anti-toxin: The sedative effect of Nectar slows the natural breathing rate by several respirations a minute in most species, leading to less toxin being breathed in by the user. Gas-binder within Tectox quickly binds to toxins within the body, lessening their effect until proper medical treatment can be provided. Tectox can fully treat minor exposures to toxins, such as a single inhalation of a poison gas.
Weaknesses:

  • Less Energy: Tectox's sedative effect causes the user to have less energy available to their bodies than normal and slows down metabolism, as it reduces gas intact by the body needed by most physiologies to complete metabolic processes.

  • Spasms: Tectox's greatest downfall is its tendency to cause occasional but highly deliberating muscle spasms typically at the site of the toxin's or Tectox's introduction into the body, which is currently attributed to the side reactions of the byproducts of the gas-binder and its bound toxin combining into contact with the various chemical pumps within the body. Most side effects disappear several hours after application.
DESCRIPTION

Tectox is an experimental drug developed by Lucerne Biological Systems to combat the use of airborne toxins and gases. Rather than using a single chemical agent to achieve this effect, it uses several different agents to attack this problem from several different directions. The primary active ingredient in Autumn Nectar is a cocktail of generic gas-binding agents, which rapidly bind to toxins in the body to neutralize them. The now inert toxin can then be removed through the body's natural respiratory and digestive processes. While provides the majority of the drug's action, a pair of exotic secondary ingredients add some more refinement. The use of sweetblossom and tecave grass extracts provide mild euphoric and sedative effects. Designers intended for the euphoric effect to take the edge off of psychological warfare that often accompanies the use of such chemical weapons, allowing users to act in a more relaxed, and consequently effective manner. The sedative effect similarly has a calming effect, but just as importantly, slightly lowers the user's respiration rate, meaning that users do not breathe in as much as the chemical weapon, meaning that there is less toxin which will attack the body and needs to be neutralized by Autumn Tectox.

While Tectox has proven to be largely successful, it has several drawbacks. Most seriously of these is its tendency to occasionally cause intense muscle spasms in the initial areas of the body where it's introduced. This is because high concentrations of the Tectox can rapidly strip free electrolytes in that area, disrupting the chemical pumps upon which most bodies rely on to function. This is rarely fatal, but it can lock up muscles and otherwise degrade a person's natural dexterity. Using Nectar also causes most people to notice a small drop of energy, as lowering the respiratory rate also means that the body has less gases with which to initiate a body's metabolism, meaning that in the human body, energy production becomes less efficient as it goes through anaerobic metabolism instead of aerobic. This is generally most noticeable when large amounts of Tectox are used in a single body, and perhaps the drug's most common and limiting effect.

Tectox is supplied in glass vials, ampules, and even bottles. Typically, these are combined with auto-injectors or old-fashioned syringes and needles for intramuscular administration. One simple then has to stab a muscular part of the body to administer the medicine, from which the body's circulatory system will carry it to needed areas. This is typically a slower-acting method of the two, but also the one which more thoroughly clears the body of the toxin and the one which requires least bit of gross motor function to self-administer. To get a faster-acting effect, Tectox can be easily aerosolized and placed in an emergency inhaler or other air supply equipment such as helmet breathing systems. While faster-acting, aerosolized Tectox has to tendency to linger in the lungs, making it less-suited for dealing with widespread systemic poisonings typically initiated by puncturing attacks such as those by poison darts.
