SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Simple construction allows for ease of maintenance and for a quite durable build over the course of time, even harsh conditions not being able to deter this weapon. So if you're jumping into a system where normal blasters and other such weapons don't work because generally electronics fail? You're in luck because the only electronics on this thing is a red dot sight, and even it can be replaced with iron sights.
  • Round caliber of 6.8mm x 43mm offer a round with a lot of punch, good ballistics, and excellent range capabilities into the weapon system, giving it a good general purpose base for an all around infantry support weapon.
STRENGTHS
  • Good support weapon: The rate of fire, accuracy, range, and reliability of the M-240 make it an excellent infantry support weapon. This weapon will give your squad on the ground, in any environment the ability to load up belts of ammunition and lay down a steady stream of hate on the enemy. You want the enemy to keep their heads down? Nothing says stay down like a constant stream of bullets tearing out chunks of your cover and tearing your buddy in half because he was an idiot and tried to peak out from behind that ferrocrete pillar he was using for cover.
  • Any environment, any time: This weapons build allows it to be used in literally any environment, even in space. The rounds are also not too heavy, so bringing large amounts of ammunition down is feasible, just don't try to carry it all at once killer.
WEAKNESSES
  • Ammo is physical: The main source of this weapons weight is the ammunition. Unlike regular blasters, this weapon relies on physical cartridges for ammo, so while you can link together as many as you want, it weighs much much more than standard blaster rounds. This means that your ammo on mission is either gonna be limited, or your movement will be, which leads to the next weakness.
  • It's a bloody machine gun: You're not going to be clearing rooms with this Rambo, pure and simple. This thing is heavy, it's not small, and the linked ammunition does not make it favorable for trying to enter and clear rooms. That means when you set this thing up, you are meant to be shooting at your enemy from either a prepared position with the bipod or tripod mounts, or you are using this as your base of fire to establish fire superiority in a fire fight. Otherwise you're gonna need a lot of strength from either augments, physical abilities, or just straight up being a larger type of person to handle this thing like a rifle. And remember, linked ammo doesn't like to move a lot so good luck trying to run, jump, duck, dive, and all that without a special carrier for ammo, which will severely limit your ammo count and as such, your rate of fire.
DESCRIPTION
Born out of Sergei's experience on his home world, the M-240 platform represents a weapon that while is simple in design it is also reliable in function, and accurate in performance. The weapon's inner workings are all mechanical and analog, meaning there is no power supply, or source electronics needed at all for operation at all period. That makes this weapon absolutely stellar in environments where such things are a necessity, such as planets with naturally murky and contaminated atmospheres or those that are subject to constant electrical storms that cause normal unshielded electronics to fail and cease function. It lays down suppressing, accurate and deadly fire from range allowing its operators to cover their battle brothers at range with automatic fire. This weapon was field tested by The Dire Wolves' field teams, and reported with considerable success, especially since the low tech ammo requires little maintenance to keep working, and the weapon itself is extremely durable. And if you want something special, you can certainly talk to The Dire Wolves' chief tech Ryan Alphonse, as it was certainly kept low tech for a reason.
