A programmable like virus was discovered to have been unleashed on Melida/Dan.
Karlie Lynn Destat acquired a sample of the unique virus and reverse engineered it to discover it had been manufactured by a then unknown source. The result of Karlie Lynn Destat's research yielded much insight as to how to create an ultimate weaponized virus that could be programmed to attack specific hosts using one base virus. This opened up the possibility of finding a means of creating a specific virus to attack specific non-natural born organisms, such as same clone batches and those of hive organisms.
The TDK-4 virus as Karlie designed it, cannot attack nor be made to attack natural born individual with their own unique DNA. The virus however can attack replicated DNA organisms and spread quickly through the same sequential batches of clones and hive organisms of the same genome. Although a different batch sequence of clones and hive organisms would require another sample of said new organism to program the base TDK-4 virus to attack said new clone and hive batches.
In short, the virus attacks only what it is programmed for, and it cannot evolve or diviate from it's original program.
TDK-4 virus as a base virus (un-programmed) is harmless to all and any life form.
Furthermore, the base virus has a half life of 14 days to be programmed, or it self destructs. When programmed, it's has a half-life of 12 hours to find and infect a host or it self destructs.
