- Fleet Name: Task Force 231
- Nickname: The Aiwhas
- Classification: Multirole Fleet
- Affiliation: The Imperial Confederation
- Fleet Symbol: The underside of an adult aiwha with its wings fully spread.
- Description: Task Force 231 is a task force as organized by the Navy of the Imperial Confederation, consisting of a group of smaller warships that can operate either in support of larger fleets or independently in operations outside the frontlines.
- Headquarters: Imperial Center for Military Operations (Cholganna)
- Ports of Call: New Alderaan, Cholganna, Tion, Chandaar, Ingo, Lakonia
- Goals:
- Escort: Task Force 231 is well-suited escorting fleets of larger, heavier capital ships such as Star Destroyers and battlecruisers. Thanks to the relatively light and versatile armaments of its ships, the task force excels at screening hostile starfighters and corvettes to keep them away from the main battleline.
- Patrol: The high endurance and low supply demand of Task Force 231 makes it excellent for patrolling Imperial space. Additionally, the speed and agility of the task force allows it to escape larger invading forces and warn Imperial defenses long before their arrival.
- Counterinsurgency: Task Force 231’s versatility makes it great for counterinsurgency operations. Its lighter vessels are great counters for the starfighter swarms usually deployed by rebel factions while its cruiser arm and Extoller-class frigate killers carry more heavy firepower than the vast majority of insurgent forces. Finally, its interdictor cruiser ensures that even the craftiest of rebels cannot escape the iron fist of the Imperial Confederation.
- Reputation:
- To its myriad crew and officers, Task Force 231 is a home away from home. Camaraderie and brotherhood is encouraged, creating an environment in which crews are fiercely loyal to their captains. At the same time, strict discipline is enforced on every ship and crews are expected to carry out even the most unreasonable of tasks without fail.
- Most outside observers and even many admirals of the Imperial Confederation overlook Task Force 231. It does not boast the overwhelming firepower of fleets with Imperial Star Destroyers, nor does it have any highly advanced or experimental technology that can turn the tide of battle in an instant. However, underestimating the capabilities of the Aiwhas in their three main roles is a grave mistake.

Task Force 231 is one of the younger task forces in service with the Imperial Confederation.
Formed in early 902 ABY, the task force was envisioned as a response to defeats suffered in fleet actions where Star Destroyers were given insufficient support to handle massed starfighters and fast corvettes. While only one of many task forces formed out of smaller Imperial warships in 902 ABY, Task Force 231 is notable for its experienced commander, Felix Yorwell, and the charisma he brings to the flotilla.
Under the commodore’s leadership, Task Force 231 has emerged as a great training ground for young pilots and officers looking to experience their first taste of naval combat. At the same time, a core of veterans with years or even decades of naval experience provide an invaluable core of knowledge and strategy to the task force. Seasoned officers and fresh recruits alike are encouraged to intermingle in onboard grav-ball courts and mess halls, promoting a sense of brotherhood and loyalty amongst the men and women who proudly serve the Empire and call themselves the Aiwhas.
