An awful lot of choices could get you on the wrong side of a megacorp. Taris had plenty of megacorps, and Dinko Graile made her share of bad choices.

The prison was very clean: lots of metal walls and glasteel windows and relatively few bars. Her cell made her feel constantly watched, as if she was the only person in the universe apart from the faceless corporation. To make matters worse, they'd deactivated her implants, so she couldn't even watch the latest season of So You Want To Be A Sith Lord.

Defiance welled up in her. She got off the bed and went to the indestructible window. From here she could see a bunch of other cells, some shared. Pretty soon the timer would ding and they'd all get some time in general population. Dinko's stomach growled.

"Hey there folks," she said through the tiny holes guards used to deploy knockout gas. "What you in for?"

Wrong choices. Zef Halo's talent, specialty and most prominent...characteristic?

Other than being not in the mood almost ninety-percent of the time.

The old scoundrel laid on the hard bed, his feet and hands crossed. The 'sweet' taste of cigars still lingering in his mouth from last night. He'd been caught mid way through his cigar when he got busted. Zef was getting old for this poodoo too. Too bad there were no pension plans for smugglers.

His mind wandered to his daughter before a voice interrupted his thoughts from a cell opposite to his.

"Workin'." Came Zef's blunt reply. Smuggling was a full-time job, right? "And let me guess - you're innocent too."

Zye lay back on the slovenly cot, eyes closed as he tried to concentrate. These Mandalorians may not have been the brightest bulbs in the box, and they never socially had seemed to advanced to the point of growing their own crops, but they sure as hell knew how to lock someone up. A bulb overhead emitted a low level of ultraviolet light, weakening the Dark Jedi and giving him a hellish headache. Under ordinary circumstances escaping would have been easy, but with the light shimmering on him, it was all but impossible.

“Damn Mandalorians,” he grunted, using the edge of his course sheets to wipe the sweat from his brow.

He tossed the sheets aside disgusted. The low thread count in them was nothing short of cruel and obscene. He scowled at its crumpled form on the floor. He took back any begrudging admiration he had for their prison techniques, these beings were clearly barbaric if they could call that a sheet.

The image of his father and uncle looming before him scornfully flashed through his mind with bitter clarity. They would have been completely ashamed of him to know that a Woden had been captured and bested by mere savages as these. Zye couldn’t let his family name of such great hunters be tarnished under these ways, it was about more than survival, it was about honor.

He rose to his feet and began pacing the cell, studying it angrily. He heard the voice of two of the prisoners. One asked what they were in for, the other said working brusquely and asked with the assumption that they’d claim innocence. Zye could tell this man meant business. He liked it. A wicked smile curled at his lips.

“Just for walking on the wrong side of the street,” Zye spat haughtily. “Some of my own press preceded me,” that’d be if is his own wanted posters were his own press, and walking on the wrong side of the street meant running into one of the local bounty hunter authorities. “And no, I am guilty as sin itself on a Sunday. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.”

This was not the first time the Duros had found himself in prison. Probably would not be the last time. He had learned a few things during his stints in the big houses of the galaxy. One of them was to never speak of your crime to anyone for you do not know if you are talking to an informant, an undercover cop or a snitch that will out you for a bitter plea deal. So when Anse heard some voices coming form the cells around him, and more specifically them talking about their crimes, he got slightly annoyed.

"DO YOUR OWN TIME SCRUBS!" The gunslinger, still laying in bed, yelled at his cell door in hopes that his voice would carry through and down towards the perpetrators. Though coming off rude and arrogant he was looking out for their best interest overall. No need for folk to get into more trouble then what they already are in, from the law or those that break it.

Now, 'Devil' Anse Tahvo was in his own world of complications. He is a bounty hunter and is certain that he had 'aided' in a few of the pleasant patrons of this establishment with their residency here. In some civilized prisons with more enthusiastic correctional systems, he would of been placed in protective custody and more then likely on separate confinement for his own safety. Here though, he was just lucky he got a cell mate that knew what was best for him.

A nervous middle aged Devonian looked over his shoulder from the corner the cell he had 'volunteered' to stay. The Duros gave him a cold stare, his red bulbous eyes flared with anger. " I did not tell you to turn around!" He snarled and the devil looking creature snapped back around fearful for his longevity in this cruel thing called life.

Legs crossed in front of him, the Arkanian Sith took in a deep breath. As the air entered his lungs, Chupa contemplated how he had ended up here. First he had killed off his living relatives, then he had cut his ties to his old life, and finally he was caught and put into the deepest hole they knew off. Great. Air pushed itself out of his lungs as he began to hear voices chirping outside incessantly. Porgs of a feather flock together...

Chupa put his feet under him and pushed himself up into a standing position. Stretching his legs one at a time, he winced as a cramp formed its way into his left leg. Hopping on one foot to the impenetrable doorway, Chupa peered out from the gassing holes and listened attentively before speaking up himself.

"My question, lads, is not why we're here, but how we're gonna get out. Perhaps you'd like to offer some suggestions while I wait for my leg to stop being a pain in the arse." Wincing again, Chupa kicked the wall opposite him with his cramped leg. To anyone outside his cell, a loud cry of pain echoed out of his confines.

So much noise, all the voices added to the ringing in her head as the world slowly came to. Whatever drugs the used to knock her out, deffenitly left a lingering headache. Cybernetic eyes flickered to life and began to scan the area. Directly above Riley was the ceiling, beneath her was the cold floor. Her head began to clear enough that she could recognize this room as a jail cell. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Memories began to creep back as to why she was here. One dead employer that had stabbed her in the back, and a lot of dead guards. At least that was a mild summary. Her eyes then fell to her arms and she frowned. Tight metal restraints had been wrapped around her forearms to dampen her prosthetic abilities, the same went for the rest of her augmentations as well.

She leaned up against the door of her cell as Graile's question echoed down the hall. There were many answers, some alike, some different. "Resisting arrest, and...killing a few guards. Maybe a businessman or two."

This is the second time Aeron would find himself sitting in a cell because of a failed mission, but just like all the other times he knew he was destined to escape and continue his hardened life of smuggling and selling spices around the outer rim.

Unlike last time though, the guards were smart enough to find a way to deactivate his cybernetic implants, so hacking a few terminals wasn't going to be an opinion for him, good thing for him though working as a Spy teaches you a lot more skills than just that.

It teaches you to always keep a weapon on yourself at all times no matter what, and he did exactly that - even now he managed to hide a hand-made blade in his own cell and you bet he was dying to use it on some overly confident "freshmeat" - or a guard who rubs him the wrong way.

Mid thought he hears a question run through his cell by your typical sounding inmate. "Same reason everyone else is here: I got caught, but why I got caught was a whole 'nother story that involves drug lords, space ships, and betrayal that I'm sure you don't care about hearing. I'm more concerned with getting out of here like [member="Chupa La'Roi"]"

The more they talked, the less safe she felt. Even assuming they'd pumped up their misdeeds, plenty of these folks struck her as dangerous. Really, really dangerous.

And on that note-

"Proceed to the meal hall," said a rough Mando voice over the loudspeaker. "Move quickly."

The cell doors opened. Dinko joined the flow of prisoners heading for breakfast.

Aeron quickly stashed his blade away and fell in with the rest of the prisoners swarming to the crowd.

As soon as he got his lunch he immediately sat at the usual table with all the card players. Even though he was in prison that didn't mean he couldn't gamble like he always does.

The doors opened after several of the prisoners gave their bland excuses and explanations. If he could get some momentum going away from the damn ultraviolet, then he would have a chance of getting free. He moved through the corridors, a soft sheen of sweat on his pale forehead. He could feel his skin threatening to break out in blisters with the horrific light that showed him no mercy. A wave of lightheadedness washed over him as he moved into the messhall. There was more light in here. Zye placed his hand on the wall to steady himself. He refused to let himself be bested by these monsters, he refused to be beaten by these barbarians.

With a dignified strut, Zye moved to the feeding line. Due to his specific dietary needs, he was given a shallow metal bowl filled with red semi-frozen liquid. It was exactly what it looked like. Blood. Zye turned his nose up at the concoction. It was nothing short of putrid.

“You call this food?” he snarled. “How am I supposed to drink this you filthy swine? Its barely dethawed.”

The portly, slovenly cook from behind the counter crossed his arms angrily, “Be glad its somethin’, bub.”

Zye slammed his tray down on the counter, huffing with anger and hunger.

“Why don’t I just crack you open?” He hissed, his fangs growing longer, “I can make you pay for your words. You look plump and satisfying.”

“Ey! Back off!” the cook shouted, grabbing a pan from the counter. He masked his fear with a thin veil of anger, “Get moving. Guards! Guards!”

Two security droids began to lumber towards Zye from the other end of the mess hall. The vampire relented with a snarl, taking a few steps back with his dish. The guards halted and Zye turned to look at the chef once more, “Remember this; the only thing keeping me from filling these halls with blood is what you feed me. You’d do best to take better care in the future.”

He stalked away to the least lit corner of the room and cradled the bowl of semi-frozen blood in his hands, attempting to warm it. He was surrounded by a buffet of food and was forced to this hardly edible concoction. He was surrounded by light, with nowhere to hide for protection. He had to get out of here, and quickly. His eyes darted for any viable partners to make a break for it with.

While playing his usual game of cards a big commotion was going on near the lunch line. Some pale looking guy was threatening one of the cooks for some stupid reason while holding a bowl of some kind.

"God, that guy's always starting trouble"

"Why did they even let him into general population"

"Right? Shouldn't he be in protective custody or somethin'?"

Small murmurers coming from the mouths of deceptive smugglers and disrespectful thugs rambled on about the guy.

Aeron glanced over at the weirdo standing over in the corner right before he threw his deck of cards on the table, "I fold"

Despite what he knew his buddies were probably thinking he had a good feeling about the odd ball alone in the corner. You might as well make friends with all the weirdos so when they snap you're not the one getting a beating - or in this case, getting the blood drained from your corpse like a slushy.

So, Nej was in prison again.

But, on the bright side, he was now in charge of the kitchen.

So, needless to say, if he had a say whether he ate like crap or not, it was going to be the latter. He had conned, bribed, and threatened his way into getting the necessary supplies for the kitchen.

Eggs, meats, omelettes, training for the chefs....Nej was doing well. He was doing time for contempt, another bs charge he was going to get his A-grade lawyer on as soon as he could. But he was going to make his stay here as comfortable, and as hospitable as possible.

So when all the prisoners came in for breakfast that day, they were greeted with a handsome chef...and for a change of pace, good food.

Riley joined the rest of the crowd as they filled into the meal hall. She felt sluggish without the full use of her cybernetics, like a Hutt trapped on a cold planet. Plus side though, she still had enough strength and training to take a good number of beings here.

Fighting wasn't her purpose right now. Her focus right now was food, well...sort of. She looked down at her tray and the food on it, which was surprisingly better then most places she's been. Her eyes gazed up at Nej. Social skills were not her thing, it was something she was never trained to do, but she did manage to get a shy smile out before quickly turning and going to a table against the wall.

She sat down and leaned her back against the wall and began to study everyone in the room. Every person here had a story, but most importantly they were all part of a hierarchy, one that she intended to learn. Commotion at the lunch line caught her attention. Someone from her hall by the sound of his voice. Her cybernetic eyes watched, they were the most interesting ones in the room, for now anyway.
