A Tambor in flight

Intent: To provide the Confederacy of Independent Systems with a foreman droid
Development Thread: No
Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems, Confederacy of Independent Systems
Model: Tambor-class foreman droid
Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems
Modularity: No
Movement: Repulsorlift
Degree: Second
Weight: 20 kg
Height: 70 cm
Production: Mass-Produced.
Misc. equipment: Standard sensor array, vocabulator
Material: Standard electronic components, duraplast, standard droid components

Strengths:
  • Can enhance the productivity of assembly lines by quickly spotting weaknesses in assembly line processes
  • Can plug into machinery for performing diagnostic checks for optimization of processes
Weaknesses:
  • Can develop quirky personalities if kept running too long without a memory wipe (to the point of them becoming parasitic)
  • Comes with few internal tools
  • Cannot fight by itself

Description: The Tambor-class foreman droid is named after the historical Foreman of the Techno Union, Wat Tambor. Thanks to its highly advanced programming, it can not only detect weaknesses and defects in equipment, it can also detect inefficiencies in its use, using a database of industrial processes to determine the best practices based on experience. Special equipment allows a Tambor to run diagnosis checks in equipment to ascertain the source of a problem, and even have a limited ability to perform repairs provided the proper external equipment, using a retractable arm deployed from the center eye. Six sensors, ranging from the thermal to the ultraviolet, allows it to perform such detection tasks. Unfortunately such advanced programming, using machine learning, artificial common sense and fuzzy logic, results in the Tambor developing quirky personalities to the point it becomes parasitic. Of course, the Tambor is bound by a modified version of the Laws of Droids:
  • A Tambor may not injure a sentient, or allow, through inaction, a sentient to come to harm, unless the targeted sentient is hostile to the CIS.
  • A Tambor must obey the orders given to it by a sentient unless such action conflicts with the First Law.
  • A Tambor must protect its own existence unless such action conflicts with the First or Second Laws.

Degree: Fifth
A small point, but many supervisor droids, like the infamous EV-series, are 3rd degree droids because they have personalities and work primarily with protocols. I could see an argument for this being a 2nd degree droid as well because of its diagnostic capabilities (much like an astromech droid).
