PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Made from long ribbons of fabric, designed to be wrapped around armor or weapons
STRENGTHS
  • Spell of Return - If wrapped around armor that was being worn, the wearer could summon the armor about their form by speaking an incantation. Likewise, if wrapped around a weapon, the wielder could summon the weapon in hand from nearly anywhere in the universe.

  • Nullification - These talismans were enchanted through the art of Dathomiri force magick, which could be rendered inert by any means of force nullification which affected physical items, and items bearing the talisman could not be summoned to the user while they themselves were within a nullifying field.
  • Size Matters - The enchantment was relatively weak, used only for the transportation of smaller objects no larger than handheld weaponry and armor. Trying to summon larger, heavier objects was generally met with failure, and even some suits of hulking armor could not be recalled.
  • Incantation - Summoning items coiled by these charms required a vocal component, words of incantation typically derived from words for return. If the summoner was unable to speak these words aloud for any reason, the charm could not function.
DESCRIPTION
A ribbon of blood-red cloth affixed to a charm of carved zersium from Dathomir's moon.
The witches of this planet, Nightsisters in particular, would wrap them around arms and armor.

This one was engraved with
mystic symbols representing the return of something precious.

A Talisman of Return was one of several in a series of "ritual wrappings" used by witches of Dathomir, especially Nightsisters, to confer enchantments on weapons and armor. Talismans of Return in particular were imbued with a spell of teleportation which spread to a suit of armor or weapon by wrapping the talisman securely around it and then preparing it with ritual incantations while the armor was being worn or the weapon held by the speaker.

In doing so the wielder, or wearer in the case of armor, was attuned to the item and wrapped charm. Once attuned, the owner could speak an incantation, usually some variant of "return" or "recall" spoken in Dathomirian or even High Sith, which would cause the item to teleport to the speaker from almost any location.

Attuned weapons would appear before the speaker in a cloud of mist, either levitating there until taken, or appeared instinctively the speaker's closed hand. Attuned armor however affixed itself to the speaker, remembering how it had been worn during it's ritual binding and returning to this state. It allowed witches and their warriors to don full suits of armor in a near instant, and was especially favored by assassins working undercover or Nightbrother s who wore cumbersome armor.

Some sith also acquired these talismans for themselves through bargains and pacts made with former witches and nightsisters who joined their ranks.

A young witch named Kaila was one such Dathomirian, who was taught by an intelligent grimoire to craft these charms as a means of safely practicing teleportation until she could cast the spell on herself without risk, although she was not the first to use them nor the first to share such secrets with other sith.

So, I've spoken with Factory staff on this, including John Locke John Locke , and the consensus was that this is much too powerful for it's production rating. At most, you'd be able to get away with making this Semi-Unique. Teleportation is already a very powerful ability on it's own, but being able to essentially quantum tunnel objects from across the galaxy is rife for abuse.

I'm going to ask you to bump this down to SU, and add a few more weaknesses before this is approved.

Hi Rara Gowisi Rara Gowisi , after some discussion with an experienced factory user, I've been made aware of some ways this could be abused that I didn't think about, and have added 2 new weaknesses both to address the main concern of the discussion and a pvp related weakness that I think would be fun to rp in a fight.

I have also reduced the production to Semi-unique as requested and added a warning that these are to be used by PCs only, as NPCs quickly became a concern in our discussion, which I had previously overlooked.
