STRENGTHS

• Sentience: The blade is sentient and wants to be used. Talionis will urge the user to use it to the fullest extent, even if not necessary. However, it cannot bend the will of the user.

DESCRIPTION

Talionis was forged by Talion Vass, a Gulag-era Korun Jedi Lord, and the near-mythic progenitor of Ghôsh Vass. Choosing to return home to secure Haruun Kal following the outbreak of the Gulag Plague, he found Haruun Kal in disarray. Unrivaled on the battlefield, he forged his Ghôsh though a series of bloody campaigns with Talionis never leaving his side, and ensured the peace via several canny marriage alliances. Talion was known for his pride, unyielding love for his Ghosh, and his sense of retributive justice.

As his life neared it's end, Talion, fearing his life's work- his Ghôsh- would fade into obscurity after his passing, he transferred his essence into Talionis, ensuring his forebears would never be without his wisdom and guidance. However, as the ages past, Talionis would be seldom seen, with few living up to the lofty standards of Talionis to even wield it. By the end of the Four Hundred Year Darkness, Talionis had faded into obscurity, buried on a battlefield with it's final Master, deep within the jungles of Haruun Kal.

It would stay hidden and forgotten for centuries, until it was found by Sazo Vass after she was led to Talionis by a Force vision. The blade examined the young Korun girl. Finding her raw, but full of potential, it allowed itself to bond to the girl.

FIrst time first the image doesn't seem to be appearing. It might be my computer not loading it or it might be broken so please tell me if it is showing up for you.

Sentience: The blade is sentient and wants to be used. Talionis will urge the user to use it to the fullest extent, even if not necessary. Holders of Talionis must be strong-willed, or the blade will attempt to shape it's Master however it sees fit, overpowering their will and making them a shell of themselves.

• Beware to the Vessel: Wielders possessed by Talionis will have latent abilities and potential unlocked, and the wisdom and strategic acumen. However, they won't see a "power-up"; a highly skilled Padawan with their potential unlocked can't necessarily best a Sith Lord. Power can't trump experience. Additionally, possession of Talionis can lead to the wielder literally fighting until they die from exhaustion; the lust for battle by the sword is insatiable.

This in one of the main parts of contention as Rey showed unlocking potential allows an untrained one to suddenly be able to best a superior foe. Latent abilities are vague enough here secretly they could have a talent for using techniques like storm on an entire fleet. Yes experience can trump power but being able to just pull a golden age superman and have any power required at the time doesn't make for a good balance. It will need to be more narrowed and refined as improving abilities can be find but granting abilities is generally not allowed.

The next big thing is sentience of a weapon is approaching the darkstaff, this things wanting to be used, being able to take control pushes it a lot closer. It is just missing some of the more powerful aspects on its own this requiring something. That is going to need to be dialed back.

It was recommended if this acted more like a holocron holding some knowledge it would be fine but being able to empower and if in a fight possibly unlock something new or with the blade being able to take over should they slip and go unconscious so it is just the blade controlling the body.

For this character, I gave her a number of Force powers outlined in her bio, that are "locked", due to a lack of eperience. They will be unlocked as time progresses. I envisioned the sword would allow the wielder (this character, in this instance) the ability to use abilities they may have the potential to use, but haven't yet. I will edit it to reflect that the sword cannot: Grant the user abilities wholesale or unlock abilities.

In regards to sentience, the sword gained sentience when the creator, Talion, transferred his essence into the sword; I felt that using such a blatantly dark technique would have the repercussions on the user, regardless of the intent of Talion at the time, which was to provide wisdom and guidance. I will make it abundantly clear that the sword cannot outright possess the user. The spirit of the sword can provide knowledge, and urge the user to take actions(moreso a holocron), but cannot overpower their will.

Thankfully character profiles and abilities are not under scrutiny so have as much as you wish it is an unintentional loophole that exists. The swords power is still strong and that much sentience is still too close to the darkstaff as opposed to a holocron. The darkstaff and things close to it being banned for its power levels. In a pvp balance sense the sword can still function like a deus ex device as it 'guides' to always be able to counter and have an answer to anything an opponent does.

Transferring a spirit into an object was generally dangerous, putting a spirit in a sword while interesting comes more to the area of fantasy which while allowed as John would say needs to be more in line witth star wars. There is a reason why the majority of things that hold spirits were alters and places that were stationary... or a computer in a control room. Not all like the murr talisman but there were a few things like that. If you want this to be like a holocron then it would be able to be like a gatekeeper and limit what there is told but most holocrons can't become hazardous to ones health.
