"No because the best lies are truths that have been altered, watch how someone lies to you and you can tell about them or the situation. If they can say it and one small thing is changed it is a lie but enough in your mind will come together that you can't tell. The harder they lie and change things the easier they will be to detect." She was looking at him as he mentioned the crystals and she smirked. "They are hard to make and using them takes training to understand so you don't break them." Now though now as she was going through the things and searching for an inventory or something that would explain fully what was inside. The smirk on her face though as she was looking at lightsaber crystals within while securing some for herself and in her satchel while moving around. "We have a good amount of stuff here so take what you need."

"Ahhhh" The Jedi would respond to Matsu's explanation. Sound piece of advice, actually... Once he had made sense of it, anyway. "I'll certainly keep that in mind. I've always looked at lies as just that - lies. I suppose overthinking everything has its uses once in awhile" He would remark, a bit of a joking tone at the last bit. As for her explanation of the crystals, he nodded in again, obviously having expected it. "Thought so" He added, letting out a sigh. "Tis but a shame... Ways to progress the very way of life of the beings in this galaxy, walled off due to difficulty and lack of skill on the part of the majority"

He nodded when Matsu said to grab what he liked, which he did, taking a few things that he felt could be useful.

"Y'know... I feel like there's traps here. Just a feeling. I don't know if it's the Force or not, but I feel like it's just not going to be so easy" He remarked over toward Matsu.

Matsu looked at Josh as he spoke and she held a crystal shhhhing him and waving a hand. "What are you saying, don't say that it means there is going to be something coming after us now and.... don't you know the first rule about exploring? Never say this is easy or I expected a monster cause the gods of irony will hate you." She was looking at him with wider eyes though while walking, her attention now on feeliong the ship and trying not to find some giant monster trying to eat them. SHe didn't look back at Josh though grabbing a robe or two and putting them over her shoulder while checking their utility belts for spare equipment. "Come on then, hopefully there won't be an army between here and the hole out of the ship."

The Jedi would chuckle quietly when she would shush him. "There's got to be a reason beyond sheer ignorance that not everything, especially things like these, wouldn't have been found and taken yet" He would add, letting out a sigh. "All I'm saying is... Be on your guard. Who knows what dangers could await us? We didn't see them on the way here, no, but... Well, either I've been watching too many Holomovies, or the dangers start on the way back" He cracked.

He grabbed a thing or two as they went, and hoped to the Force that there wouldn't be an army between here and the ship. Knowing his luck? Probably will be.

There was a look on her face while she had a grin on her face though while she picked up another crystal and was looking at the shard of it. Feeling the force energy though as she finished loading up and exited out of the vault. "Yes you are correct but there is always the chance no one came out here because it is remote." She was certain that there was something here be it the locals of the world who lived in cities across the world but were not prone to exploring their world. Large domed cities are self sustaining after all or monster or the general idea of fear while she touched the crystal shard and slid it into her pocket. "We'll be careful and keep yourself ready."

As they exited the vault, he noted the crystal she grabbed. Man, Matsu really was going for broke and trying to take all that she could carry! "Wow, Matsu. Save some for everyone else who might come visit this place in another thousand years, will ya?" The Jedi would joke with a playful grinm toward his former Master. He smirked a bit to her words. "As much as I'd love to be a 100% diplomat and peacekeeper, I always seem to be the one to end up in scraps... At heart, I'm a warrior, whether I like it or not. So... I guess it's just in my genes to be prepared for a fight when it's most suspicious" He cracked, smiling faintly.

He nodded afterword, keeping his eyes peeled as they walked... Anything could come, at anytime. He had this... Ominous feeling. Like something was just waiting to jump out at them.

Matsu was looking at him and laughed with that. "A shard of the kaiburr crystal is something to not leave around for the unaware to find. It can be dangerous in some cases." She raised her eyebrows while closing the vault and resetting the console lock before listening while she was going. "We'll head back up and be careful, this ship does have old ghosts afterall just waiting to get out." She was moving and listening to the sounds in the old ship, places of death like this usually were just that tombs and they had made enough noise to possibly disturb something loose from it.

Joshua laughed in response. "Yes, yes, because it's soooo much less dangerous in the hands of the big bad war criminal Jedi Master, Matsu. I've heard the stories" He joked with a grin. Granted, he disapproved of what Matsu had done that one time, but it had been so long by now that he was sure he could make light of it. "Let's just hope it's not so dangerous that the idiots want you to be executed again" He remarked with a chuckle. Seriously, what Jedi rallied for the execution of their co-workers anyway? Oh, right. The Republic Jedi Order.

"Old ghosts?" He asked, smirking. "The ghost of what, Davey Jones?"

He was listening as well, still on guard... Even if he was being cheerful and snarky, he was still business-like in disposition on the inside.

Matsu looked at him when he brought up the past and she shrugged. "Ehhh I moved on, I fought in a war and was outnumbered. Used the force needed to ensure myself and the soldiers with me survive." She kept going and didn't react to his comment about ghosts. "No old ghosts like the spirits the jedi used to bind within the order of the terrible gaze to cause dimensional rifts. Rozzum are not a nice thing to face and they can be brought from anywhere."

"We've never really discussed the incident, have we?" He would admit as they walked. "I always wondered, to be honest... Why you did what you did. It sounds so simple when you put it like that, but... The lives that were lost, did you ever think of the consequences of your actions before you did them? Maybe see if there was any alternative?" He would ask, looking over at Matsu. It was a delicate topic, he knew, but he'd always wondered.... And he'd fought tooth and nail for Matsu's life when Je'gan wanted her executed. Didn't he have the right to know just what he had fought for?

He chuckled faintly at her mention of ghosts. "Wait..." He began. "Why would Jedi bind spirits?"

"Because the jedi in the order of the terrible gaze were something twisted but they were not sith. Perverted versions of the jedi yes, they took to burning the darkside out of them or implanting extradimension being into their people. There is a reason why the jedi shadows are taught to speak rozzum." Few jedi knew the language or where it came from, they just learned it if it came to be. She kept moving and staying silent in her footfalls while she was letting her attention drift but the purple stone on her neck glowed. "There is a great many things the jedi choose to forget or sanitize, it helps to be one o the few who actually used the proto-archives on Tython."

"As much as I agree with you on the Jedi Order... That didn't answer my question" Joshua would speak, his tone turning firm and serious as they walked, but his gaze remained fixed on Matsu Ike. "Yes... They're terrible. They're not even Jedi. They're a disgrace to it, they're not that far from Sith and many of those Jedi were Sith in disguise themselves around the time I left. Especially the ones who had me booted, by what I've been told" He would add, rolling his eyes. He had people, informants, in the Sith, even... He knew these kinds of things.

"But... That doesn't answer what I asked you" He would add. "This isn't about them... They were terrible. I get it. But this is about you. You know I hold every bit of respect in the world for you, Matsu. You were my last Master. The only one who didn't abandon me, or try to use me as a puppet and turn me. I won't forget that. But.. What you did there. On that planet... I guess I don't know how you managed to stomach it. All those people... And you didn't look for an alternative. All those lives lost... Families... Children.... Look at it from another perspective, Matsu... You're a mother yourself. What if that was your two little girls who were there when you did that? If they were the ones who died? How would you feel?" He asked. "I guess all I want to know is... What was going through your mind? Was winning a battle really worth it? We're not soldiers... We're not. That's something a soldier should decide... Not a Jedi. But you did something to change the tide of a battle, at a cost... A heavy cost. One even a Jedi, as fool as he was, wanted you executed for. And as much as I fought tooth and nail to make sure that he couldn't have you killed, risked my credibility and my spot on the council to do so... All I can ask is... What went through your head? I just... I guess I don't know how you could have done it, you know? It's so unlike you.." He spoke, whispering at the last bit, his eyes starting to lower down to the ground.

He needed to know, after all this time. How could she? Why did she do it and what was going through her head? How could she have stomached it?

Matsu stopped and looked at him as he spoke. "I stomach it as you said because I had to, I starred at over a million people trying to kill the men who were put under my command and I made a choice to protect them. Ask the soldiers if they would have preferred to stand there and die over be in cover and watch those who were trying to kill them die." She moved forward now clasping her hands behind her back. "Stand in the aftermath of a battlefield when sith drop bioweapons on a planet and ask the dead if they would have preferred someone who could make a choice that had no good outcome or they would have preferred someone who would be able to sleep at night?" She watched the hallways going about. "It can hurt, it can feel like a weight on the shoulders and heart but my daughters if they were in such a battle would know what to do." She kept walking down the hallway now and reentering the main bridge she looked over at him. "That is the best answer really, all life returns to the force Joshua, those who die add to it and the cycle goes on. Though now that you have gotten the same answer from me that many others have there is something else I will need from you. That amulet you found from the Harvesters, if you could spare it I would like to study it. Given some of the advanced I have made I might be able to replicate it using a solari and Jal Shey techniques."

Joshua's gaze softened as he let out a sigh. "I see...." He spoke, somewhat seeming to understand. "But... Again, was this really something for a Jedi to do? We're not soldiers, Matsu... As much as the Selena Halcyon juice hit the Jedi Order, that's not what we are. It's things like this that're why I refused to join the battlefield in these wars anymore. I was killing people, in droves... For what? A political agenda? Our enemy is the Sith... The Sith, the cult that branched off from the Jedi to use the Force as a tool to kill us off and take power. Not the political entities or their soldiers. Their non-force using soldiers. We fight the lightsaber wielding evil space wizards, to preserve peace. That's our job. Not... Fighting on the battlefield in a war because the Republic, or whatever faction told us to. Hell, even the Jedi of old had their way of dealing with war. They defended, only defended, never went on offense, just reflected blaster bolts with their lightsabers while the soldiers did the work. Only went on the offense if they had to, whether because their lives were in danger, or because a Sith showed up. But they never directly participated in the war. But... A lot changed. I see that. But it doesn't make it right either" He reasoned.

"I understand your reasonings. But... That just wasn't the Jedi's place to do. It's no wonder the Order was so angry, even if I fault how far they went with it. We're not military weapons, and you acted as one. Killing hundreds of people in the process"

He let out a sigh, his head bowing down as he walked to stare down at the ground below. "I suppose you're right though... They were going to die no matter what method was used. I guess I just wish you'd used your power to prevent what was going to kill them, instead of going on the offensive and killing them yourself in the process. Nobody would have faulted you for that. A Jedi's role is to protect... But we've fallen so far off the wayside, we've forgotten" He spoke quietly. "We're just... Weapons now. It doesn't matter whether we're part of the Republic, or the Silver Sanctum... We're just that. Weapons"

There was no arguing what she did. She didn't seem to hold remorse and she stood behind her reasons. But... He was right on the account that she shouldn't have made a military decision. It wasn't her place. It wasn't the Jedi's at all to do what they did now... And it pained him.

The Jedi that he once knew were a dying breed.

"At this point... We might as well just make nice with the Sith, merge back into one group, and be the weapons we are. What would change from how things are now?" He remarked off-handedly, a hint of irritation in his voice as he kept walking. "As for the amulet... I'll look for it. It's not on me right now"

"Likely for the best." There was a look while she was walking and coming to the window she stopped looking at the reflection in the mirror of the viewport. Her attention from his comments having her well not responding before she was climbing out of the hole keeping her attention on seeing if there was anything coming after them. "Those necklaces might prove dangerous but being able to create a mental shield that blocks out all influence could be invaluable in some things."

What did she mean by that? He raised an eyebrow as he looked over at her, but knew he wouldn't get any further information on the matter from her, so he just nodded his head and kept walking. He nodded again when she brought up the necklaces. "I just didn't bring it last time I left home. As simple as forgetting to grab your scarf before going out into the winter cold" He remarked in response. He wasn't even sure if these could be replicated... They'd been given out as rewards, weren't they? He doubted they were common enough to just be re-made and handed out like candy.

Matsu was looking at him as she climbed through with a stare. "You area jedi, you shouldn't need a scarf." She was through and moving with her attention towards the landscape as she moved to see some of the things. The world here was quiet to her senses before she motioned for him to follow. She could feel the purple gem on her chest while they moved through the dust and blue crystals around them. She held the crystal in her hand and stood there while she pushed and searched into it. She knew this crystal and was slowly letting her senses expand outwards into the planet then deeper down. "The natives of the planet are unaware we are here, they are staying inside and it is cold in the force around here. A great deal of death happened."

"And what if I wanted to wear one just because I look fabulous with a scarf?" The Jedi Master would instantly remark without missing a heartbeat, with a playful wink to his former master. He was a crafty one, that was for sure. Just like that, the Jedi was back on his proverbial feet, after their rather depressing discussion, his confidence and swagger was back in a heartbeat. "Well, I suppose that means if everyone's inside, they won't give us trouble" Joshua would remark in response with a casual shrug. "If we're lucky, maybe we'll get to the ship WITHOUT someone shooting at us, aye?"

There was a look on her face as she continued to feel the force through the planet and the crystal. The purple pulsing bringing her attention to everything she had while quickly she moved. Attention outwards until above them the ship was incoming. Matsu stood there and she had a look on her face when the ramp came down for them with Saeko standing there. Matsu tossed and passed the equipment before she lept up motioning for Josh to follow and had her attention on the horizon. She could barely make out the spire of the ship and from here after so long it just looked like a massive mountain with blue crystal protruding from it. Matsu was setting the course in her head for their scenario while she set up some more of the stuff emptying her pockets. "Saeko there is more down there in the vault, we'll set a beacon and send a team here to search and get more information." There was a nod from the Liran while they were moving. "So where is you home Joshua?"

Joshua noted the look on Matsu's face with a raised eyebrow. He was still a little playful after the whole crack about being fabulous and looking fabulous (Scarfs make even a Jedi look fabulous after all!). He would look up, watching as a ship came down, unable to tell if it were friend or foe. Well, when Matsu started talking to someone named Saeko, it looked like they were a friend. He took a breath, breathed easily after that.

What an odd question to ask, when Matsu would ask where he lived. "Naboo. Why?" The Jedi would inquire as he turned to face his former Master curiously.
