Model: T-1.138 Technician’s Goggles
Modularity: Yes, versions are available for a number of species.
Production: Minor-Production
Material(s): Leather, glasteel, micro-circuitry, electronic components.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Adjustable strap holds the device firmly in place.
  • Wireless link to computer uplink allows computer interface feature to assist with diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, slicing / anti-sling, etc. This feature can be used with droids, computers, ship's systems, etc.
  • Electrobinoculars permit observation of objects in most lighting conditions (i.e. lowlight, night vision) using enhanced imaging, built-in telescopic and zoom (30x), and provide information regarding elevation, azimuths (both relative and true), range, speed and direction / trajectory, and object identification via wireless connection to available HoloNet-enabled communications devices.
  • Gives translation of up to one hundred languages (usually commonly-spoken tongues and trade languages in widespread use across the galaxy) into text form as Galactic Basic Aurebesh, thereby enabling a technician to translate data logs and recordings in real-time.
  • Using these goggles, a technician can more efficiently and quickly assess, identify, and adjust / respond to various technical issues and concerns, including machine repair, computers, starship and vehicle mechanics, etc.
STRENGTHS:
  • Unit can wirelessly interface with computers and other technology to perform general-level diagnostics and inspection, enabling technicians to make upgrades and repairs, counter slicing, review logs, etc.
  • Capable of offering telescopic vision, lowlight and night-vision, rangefinder, direction, elevation, and other features which better enable construction, repair, and maintenance.
  • Real-time translation allows technicians to read data files, view holo-records, even read manuals in various languages.
  • Offers minimal protection using polarized lenses for welding and similar activities and to protect eyes from dust, debris, etc.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Offers no protection against serious damage or enemy weaponry, and are utterly useless for combat protection.
  • Vulnerable to EMP / Ion damage, and a significant enough surge or blast will cause the unit to be disabled and either to require a full reboot or else to need repair or even replacement.
  • Provides excellent forward vision but seriously restricts peripheral vision.
DESCRIPTION

Designed for technicians, these goggles provide basic protection for their work, shielding the eyes from bright glare, flashes (like during welding), or from dust, debris, etc. They further offer a host of features, each meant to assist technicians in their duties.

First, telescopic vision, range-finding, direction, elevation, azimuths, even speed and trajectory can all be achieved with them, enabling technicians to precisely use various tools, observe machines functions, make or adjust correct alignments, and more. Available in lowlight or night-vision, technicians wearing these goggles can work within the dark crawlspaces and compartments of ships with ease. A computer interface system allows wireless connection to various diagnostic computers, interface with registry and coding, write and rewrite programming, even to perform slicing or counter-slicing to modify, repair, upgrade, or maintain various systems.

Next, real-time translation technology allows a technician to read, view, and observe records, operations and repair manuals, even holo-recordings, regardless of their original language, by translating them into Galactic Basic Aurebesh text. This greatly improves a technician’s efficiency and speed with working with alien systems or items.

Lastly, when wireless connection to the HoloNet can be made, augmented reality capabilities allow technicians to identify, appraise, and inspect various parts, components, materials, and other items. By doing so, a tech can easily scan through a junkyard, parts bin, or shop to find exactly what they need, or quickly identify a strange component and accessing information regarding it from the HoloNet.
