STANDARD FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • Exceptional Blaster Resistance - T-95 Assault Dreadplate can withstand repeated hits from standard infantry blasters with minimal penetration, significantly reducing trauma from sustained medium blaster fire, and boasts improved resistance to glancing hits from heavy blaster rifles and emplacements.
  • Superior Kinetic & Explosive Protection - Highly effective against slugthrowers, fragmentation grenades, and industrial explosives, featuring a reinforced torso and helmet that also greatly reduces concussive injuries, as well as designed to protect against debris in collapsing structures or starship interiors.
  • Enhanced Environmental Endurance - With improved sealing, the T-95 can operate in extreme smoke, chemical irritants, and battlefield contaminants. Internal temperature regulation supports prolonged use in deserts, tundra, and industrial zones with increased radiation shielding suitable for damaged reactors or ship hull breaches for short durations.
  • Psychological Detterence - A bulky silhouette and audible servo-assisted movement often discourage resistance as the T-95 is commonly used in crowd control and facility lockdowns where intimidation is a factor.
  • Extended Operational Longevity - Larger back-mounted power cells support thirty-six to forty-eight hours of standard operation. Internal systems have been designed to remain functional even in the event of a partial power loss.
WEAKNESSES
  • Reduced Mobility - T-95 Assault Dreadplate is noticeably heavier than its T-90 counterpart, resulting in slower sprint speed and reduced climbing ability. Prolonged heavy use causes fatigue even with servo assistance, making the T-95 poorly suited for stealth, infiltration, or pursuit roles.
  • Vulnerability to Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons - Heavy repeating blasters, vehicle-mounted cannons, and dedicated anti-armor weapons will still penetrate with sustained fire as the armor is meant to delay defeat, not render the wearer invulnerable.
  • Increased Maintenance Burden - Heavier armor plates are more difficult to replace in the field, with structural repairs often requiring a workshop or appropriate facility - the T-95 also has higher operating costs compared to the T-90.
  • Power Cell Exposure - Enlarged power units increase operational time; however, they present a larger rear target. Severe damage to the power system can disable enhanced features, reverting the suit to passive protection and limiting its overall effectiveness.
  • Limited Agility in Zero-G - Added mass makes maneuvering in zero gravity cumbersome despite the inclusion of mag-boots, making the T-95 ill-suited for EVA-heavy boarding operations.
DESCRIPTION
The T-95 Assault Dreadplate is the heaviest and most protective armor in the Dreadplate line, designed for operations where survivability under direct fire is the overriding concern. It is intended for defensive actions, high-risk breaches, boarding operations, and crowd control scenarios where personnel are expected to advance or hold ground under hostile conditions. The armor's construction emphasizes layered defense. Thick gammaplast-duraplast composite plates overlap across the torso, shoulders, and helmet. The undersuit incorporates reinforced spinal and rib supports, along with enhanced shock-dampening materials to reduce concussive trauma from explosions and impacts. Protection against blaster fire is significantly improved over the T-90 Dreadplate, as the T-95 can absorb repeated hits from standard infantry weapons and offers increased resistance to heavy blaster rifles and emplacements - though sustained fire will eventually defeat the armor. It also provides strong protection against slugthrowers, fragmentation grenades, and industrial explosives.

Environmental sealing is robust. The armor is designed to function in heavy smoke, chemical irritants, extreme temperatures, and high-radiation environments for limited durations. Emergency vacuum capability is extended compared to lighter variants, reflecting its frequent use in starship and station security roles. The T-95 can also be equipped with a Cold Weather Backpack or SD-48 Survival Backpack, depending on the environment in which the wearer is deployed, to assist in mitigating extreme temperatures. To compensate for its weight, the T-95 incorporates a servo-assisted movement system that reduces strain on the wearer. These servos do not enhance strength beyond natural limits but allow the user to move steadily and remain combat-effective despite the armor's mass. Even so, agility is noticeably reduced. Sprinting, climbing, and zero-gravity maneuvering are difficult, and stealth is largely impossible.

The helmet is heavily reinforced, with expanded facial and brow protection. Its sensor suite prioritizes durability and clarity under fire rather than wide-area awareness. Audio filters protect against sonic weapons and battlefield noise, while the HUD emphasizes damage alerts and squad coordination. One notable drawback is the enlarged rear-mounted power cells. While they provide extended operational time - often exceeding 36 hours - they present a vulnerable target if the wearer is flanked. Maintenance requirements are also higher; damaged armor plates are heavier and often require workshop-level repairs.

Among Dreadstar Security Solutions, the T-95 has earned a reputation as a walking strongpoint. It is respected rather than loved - acknowledged as cumbersome and demanding, but invaluable when conditions deteriorate into open violence. When T-95 units deploy, it is generally understood that negotiation has failed and containment is the priority.
