- Crack Shot :: There are a few things that make Sylvia one hell of a good shot. The first is her extensive training, her incredible focus, and her willingness to be in the thick of things, but above all of this is her ability as a NIsh to see in low-light vision and to detect invisible enemies. It is just one of the things that gives her an edge in a fight.
- Pitch Perfect :: Sylvia spent much of her childhood playing the piano and singing. Her love of both has stayed with her well into adulthood, and now she is an exceptional piano player and a decent singer. It should be noted that she has perfect pitch and can hear the subtle changes in one's voice when they aren't telling the truth or when they are being deceitful.
- Ace Pilot :: Since the moment she joined the Rebels at age nineteen, Sylvia has had a knack for flying. It's been said that if it had an engine and a flight stick, she could make magic happen. The only downside to her tremendous skill is the cocky attitude it has led to, but Sylvia is definitely the pilot you want on your side in a dogfight.
- People Skills :: Sylvia is lacking in people skills due to the trauma of her life. She can read the hidden intentions behind people's words and tell when they're being dishonest. But having a genuine conversation—that's something she struggles with. She always seems to say the wrong thing at the wrong time and gets herself into trouble.
- Reactive vs. Proactive :: Given her difficulty processing emotions and expressing them, it should come as no surprise that Sylvia is a reactive person. Temperamental and rash, she reacts on instinct, not logic. She can recognise her triggers, but it seems she isn't proactive in avoiding them.

- Lone Wolf :: FFrom a young age, she has been alone. She has had to be her own rock, her own protector, and her own saviour. Sure, there are a few people, like Taylin, who have managed to get close to her, but Sylvia has convinced herself that she is better off alone and that she is safer on her own. It is a hell of a lonely way to live, but she would never say that out loud.
- Robotic :: Sylvia has learned that the best defence isn't always a good offence, but to not care at all. She has grown up repressing her emotions and now finds it hard to express herself in healthy ways. Often, she comes across as cold and callous to almost everyone, and the instances where she can express herself are traumatic at best. As such, she displays no emotions or consciousness most of the time.
- Addictive :: Unable to process emotions, Sylvia turns to both alcohol and drugs as coping mechanisms. This has led to her abusing alcohol and developing an addiction, and, to a lesser extent, a drug addiction as well. She has withdrawals at times and becomes quite defensive when questioned about her fondness for the drink.

If there was a picture next to the word "average," it would be of her, at least in Sylvia's opinion. She doesn't think of herself as particularly attractive or pretty compared to others, so it comes as a surprise when people show an interest. She has grown up being overlooked or used, so she questions people's motives when this happens. In truth, she is an attractive woman.
Sylvia is petite, standing a little below average in height, with an athletic build. After years of service as both a Rebellion Pilot and a frequent bar brawler, she is in excellent physical condition; she is agile, resilient, and quick on the trigger. It's best to be cautious around her, as she has a reputation for shooting first and asking questions later.
Her eyes are a deep green, and although Sylvia typically appears indifferent and insincere, her eyes are expressive. She strives to be seen as emotionless, even robotic. Doing so pushes people away, and although she is lonely, she feels safer when people don't know her. But her eyes express the emotions she won't admit to feeling. It is easy to ascertain her moods from the look in her eyes.
Sylvia has a distinct fashion sense. Jeans, leather jackets, and boots are normally a combination of black and grey. She dresses for her own comfort and not for society's standards. However, there is a party girl beneath the layers of angst. Sylvia loves to dance, and on nights she lets loose, she dresses differently. Short skirts, towering heels, and low-cut dresses—she isn't afraid to show off when the mood strikes her.
Her attitude frequently leads to drunken bar brawls, so it's not unusual for her to have bruises or scraped knuckles. But Sylvia has suffered more than emotional trauma. There are small, faded scars littered along her torso, but it is the one on her back that stands out. It is about four inches long, raised, healed, and noticeable. She does not talk about it.
The physical scars might have healed, but the emotional ones have not.

These are just a few traits that make it difficult to get along with Sylvia. A storm of emotions that she desperately tries to hide; she doesn’t like to talk about herself or her feelings and rarely does so.
There are only a few people that know her past, as she’ll avoid these topics wherever possible. These people are few and far between, and they are fortunate to have her complete trust. With that said, keeping her trust proves to be a difficult task.

Childhood
Sylvia Louise Alvaro is the only child of Camilla Ann Alvaro (née Jones) and Marcus James Alvaro, who were only sixteen and eighteen, respectively, upon her conception. She was born late in the evening and in the middle of a severe thunderstorm. Her birth had not been easy for the young mother, who had to endure tremendous pain during the several hours of labour. Camilla survived the difficult birth, but it left her weakened for weeks, and because of this, the teen parents decided that Sylvia would be their only child.
On the surface, everything appeared to be normal—even happy. To those looking in, they were a young couple making the most of their mistake; however, behind closed doors, things were anything but happy. The two of them fought constantly and made no effort to hide their arguments from their young daughter. They fought about everything, with the most common arguments being about money, who would look after their child, who would work, and who would go out partying.
It wasn’t long after Sylvia's first birthday that her mother developed an alcohol addiction, and as time progressed, she became violent. Marcus was left to deal with the repercussions of her addiction and abuse. He became the primary carer for their daughter while his wife spent nights out drinking, partying, and sleeping around. Given the circumstances, it was not surprising that he became Sylvia's favourite parent, which further upset her mother.
And it was only a matter of time before their marriage fell apart.
When Sylvia was five years old, Marcus, who had grown tired of his wife’s drinking and cheating, left them both. Camilla was devastated, and Sylvia became the target of her abuse. Sylvia was a constant reminder of her failed marriage and the man who abandoned her.
This affected Sylvia deeply. She would flinch at the slightest movement and began to doubt everything she did and said, including her own worth. The neglect and abuse went unnoticed by her peers for years, despite the constant bruises and broken bones.
Teenage Years
Ten years of abuse, both verbal and physical, convinced a teenage Sylvia that she was responsible for her parents' failed marriage as well as each and every bad thing that happened thereafter. Throughout these years, she suffered cracked and broken bones and countless bruises. She would also survive not one but two suicide attempts, both of which resulted in extended hospital stays.
At fifteen, Sylvia finally left her childhood home and vowed to never see her mother again. This bravery was inspired by her then-boyfriend, Noah Carter. At the time, Noah was six years her senior, and the two had met two years prior to this event.
Because of his words of encouragement and endless support, she started to come out of her shell. For the first time, she had independence, the freedom to do and say what she wanted without fear of being assaulted, a job that she enjoyed, and friends. But this relationship, like her parents', was doomed from the start.
