Sword Herald Ranged Gland, Type 1

  • Intent: To provide an upgrade option to ranged weapons
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Power Gland
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Sword Herald Special Purpose Enterprises
  • Affiliation: Sword Herald Special Purpose Enterprises
  • Market Status: Open
  • Model: N/A
  • Modularity: Yes (Can be installed in nearly any ranged weapon)
  • Production: Mass Produced
  • Material: Custom Bio Tissue
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Biological Organism made to install on nearly any firearm, generating a protective energy field that grants immense resistance to Lightsabers and Vibroweapons
  • When installed in slugthrowers, not only does it generate the protective field, enshrouds each bullet fired in harmful energy.
  • Feeds on either Solar Power or Body Heat
STRENGTHS
  • Lethality on the Cheap: Can be installed on virtually any ranged weapon to provide a protective field against both Lightsabers, making them very highly unlikely to be destroyed by one. Even the most bargain bin pistol or rifle, even a crossbow, can be made into a last ditch defense against a Lightsaber
  • PRAISE THE SUN!: Exposing the organ to about five minutes of sunlight provides it enough energy to provide it's protective effects for up to two weeks. Alternatively, it can feed passively but continuously off body heat
WEAKNESSES
  • Ion: Exposure to Ion Weaponry reduces the resistance of the weapon it's installed in against Lightsabers to a very low level for a half hour
  • Sonic: Exposure to Sonic Weapons reduces the resistance of the Weapon it's installed in against Vibroweapons to a low level for a half hour
  • Acid: Acid eats through its fields, it, and any weapon it's installed in unless that weapon itself is made with acid resistant materials
  • Electricity: Exposure to electricity harms the upgrade, reducing both Lightsaber and Vibro resistance if the weapon it's installed in to nothing for one hour
  • Biotech: Requires Biotech toolkits to properly care for in addition to whatever kit the weapon itself needs
DESCRIPTION

Ranged Weapon Glands--turn that Vendor Trash into Vendor Treasure!

--Sales Pitch

A bio upgrade designed to confer immense resistance to Lightsabers and Vibroweapons upon even the lowliest of firearms, this was developed to reduce the need for Lightsaber resistant metals in weapons production...though there is nothing saying it cannot be installed in a weapon of significantly high quality...

A product of the data gathered from aspects of the Elemental Assault Carbine Type 1

Hello lets begin shall we.

I will start by saying that this is another interesting concept but not really practical. Main issues discussed are that biotissue doesn't not function like this. Some references to Tyranids from warhammer but this is not nearly as detailed. In fact it is rather vague in its function as it attaches to the material and interacts. (does it eat away over time to connect?) the energy produced can't just be harmful as different species across the galaxy might find different energy harmful or beneficial. Your source is vong tech but this custom tissue has no information on its basis. Even the biots created of the non-vong sort had limitations and requirements.

This is going to take a lot of work and convincing to balance it out. Just throwing on some things it is unlikely to enouncter doesn't make for a good weakness. So I am going to move it to the pre-factory to be worked on with what should be there.

Define where and the limitations of thhis custom tissue which could possibly require its own sub.
Define the energy it encases the slugs in and how exactly it is harmful.
Give substantial weaknesses that fit with the materials and limitations.
