Tech Review Sword Herald Programmable Energy Shield Tissue

  • Intent: To create a biological energy Shield for Weaponry and Armor
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Amphistaff
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Sword Herald Special Purpose Enterprises
  • Affiliation: Sword Herald Special Purpose Enterprises
  • Market Status: Closed
  • Model: N/A
  • Modularity: Yes
  • Production: Mass Produced
  • Material: Cloned, Genetically Modified Amphistaff Power Gland Tissue
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Bundles of Solar powered Living Tissue that can be programmed to generate a shield to any piece of equipment it's attached to that is highly resistant to Lightsabers
  • Can operate for months inside weapon without maintenance
  • Tissue can be grown quickly and easily and can be preserved in Stasis Chambers
  • Only needs to absorb sunlight for 28 minutes
STRENGTHS
  • PRAISE THE SUN!: This tissue is based off that of the Power Gland in Amphistaffs, genetically spliced with plants to allow it to feed on Solar Energy, which the tissue does with seventy percent efficiency, allowing it to function for up to seven months. Constantly generates a protective energy field that resists Lightsabers to a High degree.
  • Utilitarian: The Tissue is modified so that it will adhere to any Armor or weapon it is implanted in, often going into the grips or stock of weapons, and into the chest plates of armor, and is genetically modified to accept integration with circuitry so it it can be calibrated to generate a specific field for a specific item
  • Grown fast: Can be grown fast in genetic 3D printers
WEAKNESSES
  • Blow Limit: Can only take up to 7 full on blows from a Lightsaber before it shuts down for two minutes and needs to recharge
  • Anti-Vong: Being based off Vong Tissue, it's very vulnerable to Alpha Red and Baffer Pollen, and given the nature of most firearms it's impossible to totally protect against it. The same goes with Armor, especially if both get damaged
  • Biotech: Requires a biotech took kit to properly maintain
  • Charge time: It takes 28 minutes for a small bundle of tissue to charge. This can be a bit of a Hazard if you need Lightsaber protection NOW.
  • Must be paired with circuitry: It requires being paired with a basic programmable circuit so it can be "told" the type of field to generate for a given item. If the circuitry is damaged, it's protective field becomes uneven for a given item over time, and eventually goes dormant without the signals from the circuit
  • Must have an object to envelope: One reason the tissue can't simply be put in a bracelet to work is that a large amount of non Organic Material is necessary to properly channel the field over. Trying to channel it over mostly flesh doesn't work because due to the genetic alterations, the Body's em field interferes with the energy shield unless covered
DESCRIPTION

Programmable Energy Tissue--stop paying up the nose for Cortosis Weave!

--Sales Pitch

This tissue has been developed with an aim at helping put to rest much of House Io's dependancy on Cortosis Sources for Anti-Lightsaber Equipment. As the House leans in to biotech more and more, the desire to make itself self sufficient as possible becomes forefront, not just because of a need to innovate, but to deny it's rivals the ability to cut off vital resources.

Hello, this appears to be similar in type to your previous Sword Herald Ranged Gland, Type 1 and Sword Herald Melee Gland, Type 1 both of which had issues that have not been addressed here. Harvesting select tissue from a vong biot does not outright mimic the effects as they are grown for that purpose. It connecting to equipment and bonding to it should fundamentally weaken the piece it is attaching to. AAfter dicussion with other judges a canon example will be required of tissue being harvested and holding all the benefits of the full biot.

This was meant to serve as the basis for the two subs you mentioned. I wrote the sub as having tissue that had been genetically modified to bond to inanimate objects and interact with tech and I can't provide a Canon example and I'm not certain what to show to justify it, as with the previous subs I was told that a sub describing the tissue inside them may be required to justify them. As it's been modified it's not a "pure" example of Power Gland tissue, so what should I do, just base the tissue off something else completely? Its supposed to be a fundamentally new type of bio shield tech

I understand that it is supposed to be a new type but it is trying to min/max it. You want all of the benefits and it to have no drawbacks normal vong biots would have. That greatly unbalances this. If you want a biot that mimics vong biots then just use vong biots. Harvesting the power glads from the staffs would cause its own problems though as severing it likely wouldn't be as effective outside of the creature.
