Ain't No Rest For The Wicked
Corporate Sector
Etti IV
[member="Sasha Santhe"] | [member="Gerion Ardik"]

The relationship between Santhe Corporation and the Saiba Group hailed back to the old days. When the Tion Hegemony consisted of every relevant galactic corporation - the good old days. A lot had happened since.

Most of the Hegemony integrated itself in the Techno Union, until recently at least. Just some time ago the three largest entities within the Union resigned from the Executive Council and formed a new corporate entity: the Trade Federation based around the Corporate Sector. Most of them already had interests within that Sector. Their support of the old Levantine Sanctum had made sure of that. But now a meeting was made between Santhe and Saiba.

Irani hadn't seen Sasha in quite some time, yet he knew that Sienar Fleet Systems would be a very welcome addition to the Trade Federation. With Arceneau Trade, Hegemonic Automaton, Sienar and Saiba?

That were four very powerful corporate entities.

The meeting wasn’t very official. Irani and Santhe would meet on the construction ground of the new Corporate Headquarters of the Trade Federation - if everything went well, then it would be the hub of administration, commerce and trading on Etti. A pristine location with agreeable prices at an intersection of many infrastructure nodes.

What more does a commerce guild need?

Sasha let out a sigh. It seemed another trade union formed every other day, and each time many of the same players were involved. Of course [member="Darell Irani"] would be involved and [member="Gerion Ardik"] would be as well. Still they were okay people. Darell had a strange way about him, but was often countered and brought to earth by the elderly grandfather figure of Gerion. And why not, he had nice hair. People with nice hair were more likely to be listened to.

The woman didn’t ponder the implications of that thought very long before finally entering the meeting. “Mister Irani,” she said with a polite smile. “It is a pleasure to meet you again. Will Mister Ardik be joining us today? I must say I hardly ever see one of you without the other being present. Thick as thieves.”

She threw her arms around the man in a hug. It was good to have friends. “So tell of this commerce guild, or techno union, or trade federation. It is the reason why we are here I believe.”

First it was Denon. Now it was Etti IV. Gerion could not, for the life of him, remember if this was what they all agreed upon. It had to be, right? Otherwise they wouldn't be here. Denon was at the crossroads of very important and lucrative trade routes. Etti sat at the end of the Hydian Way, but Bonadan had the better position by far. Bonadan was literally the final destination on the entire trade route. Etti IV was close enough anyway, he supposed, not to mention it was in the middle of the Corporate Sector and far out of the reach of the One Sith. This was all under the assumption that it actually mattered which planet the Trade Federation set up shop on. Between the three (or four pending Santhe's admission) of them, they could make a landmark out of the dingiest, most unimportant world if they really wanted.

They wouldn't. Obviously that was a little too much work. Better to use pre-existing landmarks.

Like Etti IV.

Gerion Ardik re-entered the room from a different door, fiddling with the cuff of his sleeve. He had missed Sasha's opening dialogue on account of being in the refresher. "Oh, miss Santhe has arrived. I daresay the 'gang' is almost all here." Selka, Rave (or were they the same person now? He kept losing track.), and Arceneau were missing. Those were the only other big names he could think of, considering BlasTech and its associated class-act were now names that barely warranted using capital letters.

It was probably the Corporate Sector - considering the amount of simply beautiful and above all clear starmaps available to these worlds, which meant that it would be so much easier to develop any amount of investments to it. And why Etti IV instead of something like Belkadan? Well, that was a very good question, indeed.

And the answer was fairly simple, probably.

But they weren't here to hear a massive speech on the perks of being on Etti IV itself. No, that had already been decided behind the scenes by the corporate moguls. Clearly. Otherwise the construction efforts wouldn't have been in full effect, and they wouldn't have been looking right at it through the transparisteel window.

"Miss Santhe, always a pleasure." he returned the cordial hug, and then offered her a seat. A chuckle was exchanged about the pairing. Yes, Ardik and him did found themselves in business with each other a lot. Simply natural development, really. Schedules that alligned more often than not, et cetera.

"The Trade Federation, then." There was a nod, then. "After following a rapid succesion of decisions within the Techno Union; Ardik, Arceneau and myself found ourselves... dissatisfied with the results. We decided to detach ourselves from it, resign from the Executive Council and form the Federation."

"An entity that does not squander resources and attention to try and govern worlds, instead opting to focus on what truly matters. Neutrality, commerce and profit."

He stopped for a brief moment, taking a sip from his glass. An opportunity for either Ardik or Santhe to add or ask something.

Sasha smiled over at [member="Gerion Ardik"] and nodded. It was true enough if, @ Danger Arceneau were present and Rave was in attendance the normal gang would be all together. Stars seemed to align, or more likely conspire, to bring this group of business being together time and time again. Sasha pondered the implications for but a brief second before looking between the two men. She imagined that they were argueing again. [member="Darell Irani"] always seemed to push Gerions buttons. “It is always a pleasure Gerion,” she said with a nod to the older man. “As always I find your competent company and companionship a stark contrast to the normal mediocrity I am forced to endure.”

And then down to brass tax, which of course was about avoiding taxes on brass or any other goods. These two were always looking for an angle and why not? She listened to the quick pitch of Irani and nodded. “Why govern when you can profit?” she said finally nodding. “Get corporations back into the business of making many and out of the business of managing planets and people. Profit is, as always to us, an important thing to consider. The only thing for some,” she looked over at Gerion, “You have literature and contracts with you yes? Something to explain in a bit more detail how this Trade Federation will work?”

"Naturally."

Gerion gestured over to a shadowy corner and a Z1 Assistant Droid stepped forward, handing a folder to the Umbaran before stepping backwards back into the shadow. Z1s were made to be innocuous and unassuming. Coupled with the dark corner it insisted on standing in, it was no surprise no one had noticed it before. Gerion probably would have forgotten about it too if it hadn't been carrying his documents. Gerion cracked open the folder first to inspect the documents and make sure everything was in place, then he closed it again and held it out for Ms. Santhe to take.

He began, "What we are seeking to do here is establish a free association of corporations. Unlike the Techno Union, which is fast in decline, the Trade Federation will be a loose, un-politicized coalition of freely associated companies. No tedious senate-esque meetings, no broad, sweeping policies. Just mutual defense, cooperation, and business."
