"Stay here a moment," Neesa whispered. She crept from the speeder without making a sound. Her cloak didn't even seem to brush against the outside of the speeder. The mottled colours let her form meld into the darkness as soon as she was a few steps away. She moved to the far edge of the concrete barrier. It was high enough that climbing it would have been a risk. The other wide was certain to be a smooth drop, high enough to fracture ankles. They must have dropped the barricade in pieces from a gunship. Their reaction had been quick, if ineffective.
The group stayed with Irajah, putting their backs towards the barricades. Yillis looked towards the older officer and then took the stairs up to the top of the barricade. He came back down quickly.
"There is movement on the other side," he whispered.
"A lot of them," came Neesa's voice as she appeared from the shadows. "Likely drawn by the commotion when they started firing. This way. We'll stay inside the buildings to the left for now. No shooting unless necessary."
