Sunshine and Seaweed

Lor grinned and leaned close to Rawnie again, giving her a squeeze.
"You know how hard it is to make a blaster small enough to fit into a ring?"
His hand gently slid down to where the start of a baby bump would soon begin to appear. The other hand reached into his pocket to put the somewhat heavy metal ring he'd made for his fiancee on her finger.

"L-Lor!"
She watched him slide the ring onto her finger. Despite being the one to tease him about it, he shocked her by actually going through with it.
"I was joking! I didn't think you actually had one!"

Wow. It was heavy too. She examined it closely. He must have been serious about the blaster thing. Wow. Useful in a tight situation. She smiled as his hand found her stomach, searching for a baby bump. Soon enough he'd feel their child growing insider her. Already, she could feel something like a slight flutter in her, although she wasn't sure how much of that was the growing baby, or just her imagination.

Lor gently squeezed the hand he'd put the ring on, chuckling a little bit at Rawnie's surprise. He had actually had the ring for nearly a month, but the blaster was a hard nut to crack.

"I had a ring. Just not the one I wanted to give you, Rawnie. Figured you might appreciate this a bit more."

She pulled her hand away to examine it closer. Rawnie rarely got excited like this in public, but Lorane had seen this side of her many times. The silly, giddy, almost childish Rawnie. The one that cheered and jumped for joy. The one that smiled and laughed. Now here she was giggling excitedly and running her fingers along the metal.

"It's perfect!" she practically squealed, "I love it! How does it work?"

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor's heart practically soared when he saw Rawnie start laughing. The sight of her getting so excited over a piece of tech was amazing to watch. He stepped around her so he'd be out of the way of the blaster shot, and held up her hand to aim the tiny weapon.
"The trigger's voice-sensitive actually. Couldn't think of a spot on the ring that wouldn't be possible to touch by accident. So, just tell the ring to shoot, and it'll shoot."

Voice activated? Damn. Now she was going to have to watch what she said! Oh well.

"And what exactly is the voice command?" she asked, holding it out somewhat, "Be good to know exactly what I shouldn't say."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor gave Rawnie a little kiss on the ear and kept his voice at a low whisper.
"It's nothing you're likely to randomly say, visahot. Unless 'ring - activate - fire' is something you're likely to say in bed."
Teasing her again. It was a game that never ended. A game that not enough married couples played, in his opinion. Just another way he demonstrated his love for his fiancee.

She was so giddy. It was disgusting. She needed to get a hold of herself! But... later. When she wasn't this alone with this man. He brought out this in her. His breath tickled her ear and made her giggle. This was why she needed to learn his language. So she could be affectionate and sweet without anyone else knowing what they were saying.
...and so she knew how hard to hit him when he insulted her cooking in his language.

"No. Not something I'm likely to say in bed," she leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek, standing on the tips of her toes, "Thank you, Cyar'ika. I will treasure it."

Rawnie's giggle made Lor laugh again. He took her hand and gestured towards the one and only light he saw in the windows nearby. At least there was one place open. Hopefully it sold food.
"Treasure, huh? Guess sharing those is just something husbands and wives do... And, no matter how nice that sounds, my stomach wants to punch me in the face right now. Let's go get some ice cream, visahot."

yOh! Right! They came here to eat! She'd been so stupid and giddy, she forgot to eat. How foolish. She Pulled away from him immediately, the childishly giddy smile falling from her face at once.

"Right! Sorry!" She grabbed his hand and gestured down the street. "Let's get moving then."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor simply shrugged in reply. Seeing Rawnie that happy had been more than worth staying hungry for a few more minutes. He could've kicked himself for mentioning food and getting rid of that smile on her face.
"When you're that happy, I don't mind waiting for food."

The blonde mando smiled sheepishly and buried her hands deep in the pockets of his coat. He was being sweet again. She really couldn't stand it when he was that sweet! Made it hard to stay focused. How was she supposed to work when they were married? She had a reputation of being so cold and serious. Her brother was the emotional one. She was the one who got things done.

"Still, you shouldn't ever put off eating for my sake."

In many ways, she was always in survival mode.

There was a huge, if not obvious, rolling of Lor's eyes in reply to his fiancee's insistence. So often, she forgot that he'd spent his whole childhood prowling the streets of Csilla and stole to survive. It was a form of hunting in its own right, really. Although he was used to eating whenever he needed to, now, he hadn't forgotten the sort of gnawing pain that accompanied real starvation.
"Visahot, if I was so hungry that I needed to eat right this second, I wouldn't be able to think straight. It's not like I have to steal, anymore."

It was impossible to forget the feeling of hunger. Not just the hunger that came with skipping a meal, but the feeling of skipping days. The feeling of being so hungry you could hardly stand, but you knew that if you didn't get your latest kill back to the camp, you would die and bring others down with you. The hunger that ate away at you until you were so numb to it, that eating again at all made you nauseous.
It was kind of why she took it so seriously.

"Don't roll your big red eyes at me," she snapped, poking him in the side, "Come on. Let's eat. I'm hungry too."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

The poke was a bit much, Lor thought. But if it meant they wouldn't have to get into an actual argument on the subject, so be it. Honestly, if she'd stopped him before he'd brought the ring out and asked if the rest of the conversation could've been held off until after some food, he wouldn't have dragged it out.
"Yes, let's eat. Wonder what they have here."

The place that was open was a tiny little diner, one of those open all night for no apparent reason places. Because when they went inside, the place was absolutely dead and there was only one waitress and a cook on staff, neither of whom seemed entirely eager to be there.

"Sit where ever you want," the waitress called from across the diner, seeming far more interested in her conversation with the cook than their guests. Rawnie could hardly blame her. Needing to be up all night at a place that wasn't very busy at all, would probably make Rawnie less than eager to serve as well.
She shrugged, taking no offense to it and nodded to a booth in a back corner.

[member="Doctor Azure"]

As he and Rawnie sat down, Lor had the vague feeling that the two people still working in this place right now must've felt like killing him and his fiancee. Night shifts were probably a horrible experience, and the fact that the two of them were well-rested, while the sleepy-looking employees were not, probably didn't help. He gave Rawnie a small smile and a shrug.
"At least nobody's gonna have to cook anything for us."

Rawnie shrugged. He had a point. They would be relatively easy customers.

"Coffee?" the waitress asked standing beside the booth.

"No thanks. Not right now. Do you carry seaweed smoothies though?"

The waitress raised a single eyebrow at the question, checked the chrono, but nodded.

"We do. That what you want?"

Rawnie nodded. It probably was a weird request for this late at night... or early in the morning, rather.

"And for you?" she turned her attention to the chiss, looking him over briefly. Clearly, they didn't get chiss in here very often.

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor simply smiled kindly at the waitress and gave her an innocent look.
"Ice cream and coffee. Mixed together, if you can manage it. Oh, and some of that cake you've got sitting behind the counter. And fudge."
He got the expected dumbfounded reaction, and the girl walked away, clearly muttering something about Chiss eating habits. He turned the same look on Rawnie and gave her an exaggerated shrug.
"Apparently people don't eat sweets for breakfast. Who knew?"

Rawnie exchanged looks briefly with the waitress, almost as shocked as she was. Once she walked away, Rawnie leaned in ever so slightly across the table.

"I will never understand how you can eat all that, but you never seem to gain a single pound!"

It wasn't an insult, of course. She wasn't scolding him. She was just amazed. If she ate like that... well, she;d probably get really sick. Much as she loved sweets (ice cream still being her greatest weakness) she could only handle so much. Made her a bit envious.
