Sunshine and Seaweed

Lor laughed and began taking another spoon to his ice cream. It was fun to just sit here and mess around. The two of them didn't do that much. It was always either running around for work, or sitting aboard the ship and trying to relax. Not that he would ever get sick of Bluebird, but there were times when the two of them really needed some time off.
"Mmm-hmm. I love my silly Rawnie."

Ice cream. Her one weakness! Quick as lightning, rawnie picked up another spoon and went for her lovers icecream. What else was the point of having someone, if not to share frozen dairy treats with?

"Hey, Lor? Do you know your birthday?"

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor absently grabbed another bite of cake with his spoon and frowned a little as he tried to remember something. He sure as hell didn't have a birth certificate anywhere, so how would he have known about his birthday? Not that Rawnie knew that. Nobody had really known just how far from civilization his childhood had been, despite living in a city.
"Nope. Got no way of telling when my birthday is, visahot."

Rawnie frowned, but she'd figured that would have been his answer. No record at all? She wished he was more willing to tell about himself, his life before he was adopted. But Rawnie understood having a troubled childhood. Sometimes it was better to just not talk about it.

"So you've never celebrated a birthday?"

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor gave a little shake of his head as he ate a bit more of the dessert that was sitting between them. Rawnie seemed more troubled than him about his lack of a birthday. He hadn't realized that actually meant so much. He filed it away in his mental 'weird Mando things' spot.
"Nope. Seemed pointless to try and figure the day out, and meaningless to pick a random day to be my birthday."

Rawnie didn't respond for a moment. She simply moved over to sit closer to him and wrapped her arms around him. He was so warm, and he always smelled sweet, like cake. Or maybe that was actually just the cake that he's been eating just now?

"Well, either way," she said after a moment, "I'm glad you were born. No matter what day it was."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor smiled as Rawnie shifted over and hugged him. Was she sniffing him, again? That was kind of funny. He snuggled her up into his lap and gave her a kiss.
"Hmm... That makes one person besides me."

Silly Lor. But he was her silly Lor. While he snuggled her, she reached over to grab the bitter green drink and sucked on the straw some more.

"Well. I'm sure Galaar is happy about it too," she said, grabbing one of his hands to bring it to her stomach, "We couldn't be a family without you."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor raised his eyebrow for what felt like the millionth time, giving Rawnie a careful squeeze.
"I think little Gal is more happy about the imminent influx of sugar he's about to have."
Which reminded him... There was a friggin' cake sitting there on the table for him to finish eating. He stuck his tongue out at his fiancee and took another fork-full of chocolate. Yum.

The blonde eyed the cake, but kept sucking at her seaweed instead. Too much sugar was bad for the baby. Too much of anything was bad for you, really. She really needed to watch what she ate now. They couldn't afford for little Gal to have any health problems at birth. The village didn't really have any way to accommodate that. It wasn't uncommon for people to die due to the lack of a real doctor.
But she had Lorane. Even if he didn't specialize in it, she was sure that he could help more than he was willing to admit. It was certainly better than having no doctor at all.

"I still will never understand how you manage to stay so thin, eating like that."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor shrugged. Corpulence wasn't exactly common among Chiss, and he'd never understood why. Maybe it was a species thing.
"Gotta admit, I dunno. I've never seen a fat Chiss."

Lucky. If Rawnie ate like that, she would be chubby in a year. No. Maybe not. She supposed that she was active enough that she could fend off chubbiness. Her body was mostly muscle anyway. She was thin, but not bony.

"Do you think Galaar is going to have any problems growing up? Being a mixed races, I mean. I know I had problems when I was younger. Wasn't enough Echani to be welcome among them, but I was too much Echani to be accepted in some villages on Mandalore."

She smiled sadly at her drink. Racism was still alive and well in the Galaxy. Even her own people, who were said to be some of the most accepting, as far as the physical went, sometimes could not see past the color of your skin, or the color of your hair, or your horns, or your headtails, or- Well, there were di'kuts everywhere.

Lor chewed reflectively on another bite of cake as he thought about his fiancee's question. Rawnie, compared to the other Mandalorians he'd met, was pretty obviously not from Mandalore. Fair skin, blonde hair, wiry build, et cetera. And he was obviously Chiss, given away the most by his eyes. Lor finally shook his head.
"I don't think so. Not for his looks, anyway. The eyes are what most people get bothered by, on my part, and I'm sure there are plenty of Mandos with blue skin and all kinds of hair colors. But, I assume that the people who're bothered by me being around would figure out that Gal's my son, too. Then he'll start having social issues."

The blonde smiled again. He always knew how to cheer her up again. Make her laugh.

"Yeah, you're right," she replied, "Going to be lonely for the little one at that point. We should make sure they have siblings then."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor squeezed his fiancee again, grinning back at her. As much as the two of them were joking around, he knew she was probably being serious. She'd grown up with a big brother to be around, and even Lor himself had Serenna to talk to for a few years. He imagined being an only child was probably lonely. But he teased Rawnie, anyway.
"Hmmm... I don't know whether or not I should approve of altruism being a reason for more time in the bedroom."

She smiled again as he squeezed her. She might change her mind later, but for now, she fully intended to have a home full of little ones.

"Really, would you complain about more time in the bedroom?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, "I know I wouldn't."

Not that they didn't already spent much time in there already. Still, Rawnie suspected it might get harder to find good quality alone time after the baby was born.

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor grinned as he nuzzled his fiancee's neck a little bit. She knew just as well as he did that the only chances they'd get to really be alone once Galaar was born would be when they were away from home.
"Well, I guess we'll be on the clock whenever we've got time to relax on Bluebird. Or, y'know, anywhere."
He didn't doubt that Rawnie would pull him into whatever bed they happened to be using at the moment. But that was totally okay with him, of course.

So that was the plan. Take frequent trips away from home to have as much alone time as possible. Rawnie could get behind that. With her duties to the clan, she had plenty of reasons to leave on trips. And of course, she would bring her partner in crime with her on all of them.

"What do you say we return to the ship after this? Naboo will still be here when we're done."
