Sunshine and Seaweed

Another grin crawled onto Lor's face as he squeezed Rawnie.
"Well, you'd need me to roll around in it so you can smell me, huh?"
He was perfectly aware of both his fiancee's obsession with his jacket, and Zandra's obsession with Calico's. A vague question crossed his mind of whether that was a Tal'verda thing or a women-in-general thing. He mentally shrugged and turned his attention back to teasing Rawnie.
"You wanna stop gaping at me so we can go land, visahot?"

Rawnie Tal'verda

Whether the obsession with the jacket was a woman thing, or a Tal'verda thing, never really crossed Rawnies mind. To her, it was just a love thing. When she was with Malcom, she kept something of his too, and he kept something of hers. Back then, for a girl like her who had very little, giving something to someone you liked was very meaningful. It still was meaningful.

The blonde pulled away, grabbing her scarf from off the table. She then gently wrapped it around his neck with a little kiss to the cheek. Sure. It wasn't weather appropriate, but it was the only thing she could think of that really meant something to her.

"Let's go, Lor'ika. Go do your thing."

The scarf again. Lor knew how much Rawnie loved this scarf. As far as he could figure, it and her knife were the only things she'd really gotten to keep from Calico's family. On Zandra's side... Well, there was Zandra. The one thing that made the scarf sentimental for him too, though, was the time Rawnie had wrapped it around his head to keep him from bleeding out. It'd also been the first time the two of them had actually sat down and talked about anything.
"I think the last time you said that, you ended up wrapping my head in this scarf."
He smiled and grabbed Rawnie's hand as he went up to the cockpit. The view of the planet was even better from up here. Sitting down in the pilot's seat, he happily started the engines for the landing.

She rememebered wrapping his head with her scarf. It still had some dark patches where his blood had stained the yarn forever. That was alright. It wouldn't be the first time someone had bled on that scarf. There were other spots on it too.

Rawnie was starting to get used to the gravity shift when she went to the cockpit. It had taken her a while, but finally she was coming to expect it now. She took her normal seat in the copilots chair and waited.

Bluebird's entrance into Naboo's atmosphere was as smooth as ever. There was a quick moment where the transponder malfunctioned and almost broadcasted to the planet's security exactly who and what was on the ship, but the main computer fixed the error. That was something Lor would have to fix sometime soon. He didn't even like friendly governments knowing where he was.
The ship landed quietly and easily in one of the many private landing areas that littered the outer edges of this city. Counterintuitively to the fact that he and Rawnie had just woke up, Lor saw that it was night on this side of the planet. Oh well. Some things would be closed, but they had a couple of days to stay here, and a certain priority.
"Well, let's go say hi to the local paper pushers, then straight off to find somewhere with that seaweed of yours."

The darkness outside took her a moment to mentally adjust to. Her sleep patters were always a bit irregular when she was off Mandalore. She preferred to try to keep in time with the cycle of her own home if she could by carefully timing herself while in space. of course, after a while, she lost track. The jet lag always got to her.

"I think I know where to look," she said grabbing his hand, "It's a common food item here. Sometimes these people use it in salads too, and desserts."

Honestly, it was so common, it was hard to find a place without at least one item on the menu. Seaweed and fish, although Rawnie was less interested in fish. The lakes and streams were usually too frozen back home to fish in, so she never really acquired a taste for it.

A smile came back to Lor's face when Rawnie grabbed his hand, and he locked the ship up tight as they left. It was dark near where they'd landed, so he gave her a quick kiss without having to worry about her usual annoyance at being seen. As he heard her talk about seaweed desserts, he squeezed her hand again.
"I wonder what seaweed ice cream tastes like. Or seaweed and bacon... yum..."
Yeah, food was just one of those things Lor had no boundaries on. If left to his own devices in a cave full of spiders and hot peppers, he'd eat the bugs into extinction.

"Delicious."

She answered immediately, making it quite clear she'd had it before. She blushed at her own eagerness, smiling sheepishly.

"W-well, I mean, it was good last time I had it here. Are you saying we're going out for icecream? Isn't that what brought us together in the first place?"

[member="Doctor Azure"]

That smile... Lor kissed it again, wondering how Rawnie always managed to get a reaction out of him. He knew she hated it when he described her as 'cute', but she really was when she got excited.
"Hmmm... Ice cream, and then maybe a walk while there's nobody around to bother us?"
He took a look at his now-changed chrono and blinked hard as he saw what time it was.
"Not like we can check into anywhere for the next few hours, anyway."

Really? What time was it anyways? She looked up at the dark sky overhead. On Mandalore she could always tell the time and date just by looking up, or at least she could if the clouds cleared for a while. Not here. This sky was one she didn't know.

"How long until morning? Is anywhere even open right now?"

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Another look at the chrono. Three or four hours, depending on how exactly Naboo's day/night cycle worked. Lor squeezed Rawnie's hand and smiled at her with a small shrug.
"Hopefully, there's lots of all-night stores in a city like this. I'm hungry, too."
He led her out of the spaceport and onto the main street, looking around for any lights that would indicate an open store.

Theed was a shockingly quiet city at night. Rawnie had worked nights here once before and the same thing had struck her. There was no real night life. Most places closed if it wasn't a bar. Oh. Maybe they could find something to eat at a restaurant bar? Maybe. But one thing Theed did have at night was a surprising amount of stars, considering the lights of the city. It was pleasant.

"What do normal people do on a date?" she asked as they walked.

He was, after all, the only one between the two who might have been on what one would consider a 'real date'. For Rawnie, dating was going out into the forest and silently stalking an animal to kill. Not exactly the height of romance.

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Another little shrug from Lor. He hadn't had a real date except for once. Every other one had always ended with him having to shoot something in the face.
"Don't really know. I usually ended up getting shot at a lot when I went out with girls. And then dumped, because you're the only woman I've met who enjoys getting shot at. When in doubt, follow the cliches, I guess."
Of course, they were sort of already doing that. Taking a walk at night and staring at the stars. Not that it mattered. Lor was enjoying it a lot.

Rawnie laughed at that. She was well aware that not everybody enjoyed having the thread of death hanging over you at all times. Even Rawnie grew sick of it now and again. Of course, for her that was just the daily grind. Life. Survival. You worked hard, or you died. And sometimes even if you did work hard, you died anyway. It was alright. In the end, they all became one with the Manda.

"Sounds like you needed yourself a Mandalorian girl from the start, Cyar'ika."

Really, when she thought about it, she wasn't anything special. Lorane probably only liked her because of what they had in common. That was a sobering thought. Maybe he would have gotten on just as well with any other. Maybe someone from a more powerful clan...

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor turned to look at Rawnie, seeing the little flash of a frown on her face. He wrapped his arms around her with a little kiss on the nose.
"Maybe I just needed a snow cat. You certainly growl enough."
He smiled at her and simply stood there hugging her for a bit. The amount of self-deprecation she sometimes expressed was somewhat annoying. Rawnie was a beautiful, strong, and intelligent woman. It was pretty clear that she knew it, too. She just didn't act like she knew it, sometimes.

He kissed her nose. That seemed to snap her out of it pretty quickly. Why was she being so down on herself all of a sudden? Nerves? The wedding wasn't far away and now there was the baby to consider. She was probably just nervous about that. How silly.

"Rawr," she said teasingly, standing up on the tips of her toes to go in for a kiss.

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor leaned down to kiss Rawnie, smiling internally at the sudden change he'd managed to bring in her mood. He stayed silent for a little bit while they kissed, then squeezed her hand.
"Maybe we should test how that tastes again after ice cream. Sort of a before/after experiment."
He leaned his head against hers and winked at her. Teasing Rawnie was always fun. She either got really aggressive, or started blushing, and either way Lor enjoyed it way too much to stop.

They pulled out of the kiss and he made her laugh again. He was funny. He probably didn't realize how funny, but he was funny. She never laughed this much around anyone else. It was part of why she held onto him so tightly. She liked to smile, even if she didn't like to do it around other people.

"Oh yes. I know how you like to... experiment."
She gave him a playful punch to the arm when they separated.
"My own little mad scientist."

[member="Doctor Azure"]

Lor smiled as Rawnie punched him, taking the hand and opening the fist so he could hold it again.
"Mhm. A beautiful snow cat and her mad scientist. What a pair we are, visahot."
Making her laugh made him happy. He'd never been that happy before he'd met her. It still actually felt a little strange, if he thought about it. But here the two of them were, almost married, and with a baby on the way. If somebody had told him this would happen before, he would've laughed at them.

They'd moved fast. This romance was still so new, so young. And here they were agreeing to spend forever together. But that was life. That was her life. Forever was never long for people like them. No time for second guessing. She made up her mind. She'd made her decision. He held her hand and they smiled at each other under that street light.

"Ya know, I'm still waiting on you," she teased, "Didn't you say you'd give me a ring before you gave me a baby?"

She was only joking with him though. She didn't care if he gave her some hunk of finger metal. It could probably be put to better use in a blade or something anyways.
