PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Cryo shell
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Explosive Type: Chemical, specifically cryo
  • Delivery Method: Launched
  • Effective Range: Battlefield
  • Area Of Effect: Average
  • Stopping Power: Very High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Snap freezing - Spreads extreme cold in and snap freezes anything that can be frozen in the area of impact.
  • Light source - Can be used for ambient lighting for someone who is comfortable living on the edge.
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile: The Sundae Shell is versatile in the sense that it can be fired by various different platforms, whether they are ship-mounted or a piece of artillery. With appropriate considerations for aerodynamics, it can be fired accurately across the battlefield granted that the platform launching it is powerful enough to do so - something which many artillery pieces or ship-mounted weapons tend to be.
  • Cold: The explosive has a very high stopping power in the sense that the freezing effect it has is very potent. Upon impact or destruction, an explosion of average size will occur and cover the nearby area with extreme cold. The temperature is so low that it will override warmth to a certain degree. Additionally, it spreads a small amount of liquids which will, along with other liquids already in the area, including ones insulated by flesh, snapfreeze.
  • Lingering: Leaves cold frozen surfaces where it impacts. These surfaces will remain for extended periods of time. This can severely limit movement from anything which is still capable of moving at all after impact and create frozen and slippery surfaces.
  • Strong Shell: The shell is heavy and is relatively strong - to destroy it, glancing shots and single shots from personal weapons tend to be insufficient to destroy it.
WEAKNESSES
  • Point defence: The Sundae Shell is not a large laser bolt but an actual physical shell. This means that it can be targeted by point defence systems and be destroyed before it reaches its destination. The shell is large in size too, meaning that it will be easier to target than one of an average size.
  • Cumbersome: Does not make for a very mobile artillery piece without dedicated transport and takes up more storage capacity than average.
  • Bright: This shell emits a subtle but noticeable blue light. If fired en masse or during night, it will be easy to detect.
  • Can be targeted in storage: Like most explosives, the shell can be fired upon while in storage, causing it to explode and potentially create a chain reaction. This can be dangerous for the user of it. Safe storage is recommended.
DESCRIPTION
Mathieu Brion wanted to create a shell fireable by artillery which could be used more creatively and with less of a deadly impact than the normal laser bolts of fiery weapons. With plenty of advice from his friends and acquaintances, many of them whom he had known from his days as a Mercenary, he produced the Sundae Shell. As it happened, this shell was also rather well suited for ship-mounted weapons and could even be dropped as a bomb from high altitudes, relying on the shell being destroyed upon impact and thereby activating the freezing effect.

Unfortunately, the shell was still quite deadly for those caught in its zone of impact. Still, it could be used for many different purposes. If the shells managed to hit a larger space vessel, its freezing effect could disable weapons for a significant amount of time. If a ship was hit by enough Sunade Shells, it was possible for electronics and similar properties of it to temporarily shut down, similarly to as if it had been hit by an EMP. The same goes for sensory and nervous functions for organic entities in the unlikely case of survival after impact. The same was true if it managed to hit ground based vehicles, for instance. Additionally, it could create lingering slippery surfaces which could impede two conflicting parties from charging at each other since maneuvering on the slippery surfaces could be disastrously dangerous.

With the possibility of being fired accurately from afar, these shells opened up the possibilities to stall conflicts or take out dangerous targets with a relatively small amount of destructive force.
Naturally, the Sundae Shells could also be used like more traditional artillery shells and be fired upon hostile entities in order to kill or destroy them.
