Summons from the Iron Senator

hayo-koekkoek-ryse-palace-interior-d.jpg
Had Abbadon Senatorial Palace

The Senatorial Palace was in full swing on this day, aides rushing through the numerous doors while the sentry guardsman stood by. The palace was large enough to have its own corner of the capital city. The palace was filled with ornate luxury with majestic banisters and gold lined hallways. It was clear that a lot of effort went into maintaining the structure. Within the main chamber would be a large statue of Caesar Dol Amroth. The father of the current senator who had tried to become senator of had abbadon in the past but loss.
House Dol Amroth banners would also be present around the Senatorial Palace as a sign that the senate seat was there's. Some might call this excessive display of wealth however the people were experiencing a golden age and everything seemed peaceful. Had Abbadon had suffered enough in the past with war being brought to its doorsteps. Senator Amroth would make sure that nothing bad happened again.
For seven years the reclusive senator of Had Abbadon had resided here within these vary halls. Meeting with planetary officials and keeping the various merchants guilds happy on the planet. The Iron Senator hadn't attended a senate meeting since then. Choosing to remain on his planet while the galactic alliance was dealing with internal issues and the shocking sacking of coruscant. Senator Amroth had heard the news from the holonet and couldn't help but grumble to himself.
As a supporter of the Imperial Block within the Galactic Senate, he advocated for a stronger chancellor which could lead the alliance into a new golden age. However the current chancellor was not strong within the eyes of senator amroth. Thus he refused to attend any senate meetings until then. Having sent his aide to cast his vote for him so that the imperial block would have someone pushing their agenda.
The Iron Senator had heard that a new coalition had been forming within the senate, opposing the chancellor of the alliance. He had considered joining but the folly of opposing the most powerful person within the Galactic Alliance came clear. Advocating restrictions on the chancellor would only make things more difficult to centralized power if an imperial block supporter managed to gain the chancellorship.
With a single stroke of his pen across the paper, an official letter of summons from the Iron Senator of Had Abaddon would be shipped to the Senator of Lujo's office. Requesting them to arrive within the Had Abaddon palace within the hour for a meeting. Although this would no doubt be strange to the senator, as the iron senator never really attended sessions of the galactic senate.

The letter had caught her entire staff by surprise… for one, that it was a literal paper letter that had been shipped to her office on Coruscant, a rather ancient process in this modern age to say the least, and for two… that it was an immediate summons from a Senator that no one had seen in years… Senator Col Amroth of Had Abbadon.

Her staff had caught her in the Senate hall after a chamber session surrounded by a swarm of Senate guards due to the recent assassination attempt on Fondor. Necessary precautions had been put in place for Tiresh’s protection since then, and she was rarely making public appearances these days as the risk posed was just too great to ignore. However upon opening the letter and reading its contents, she could not help herself but to make an appearance. Perhaps it was due purely to the strong drive inside of her to sure up as many votes as possible against the Corporatists, but I suspect that there was a healthy dose of curiosity at play as well.

After all, no-one had been summoned to the Had Abbadon Senatorial Palace in… well, it had been a very, very long time.

Her Bucephalus-Class Diplomatic Shuttle arrived very quickly at Had Abbadon with two X-wings on its flank for additional protection. As the shuttle descended to the landing pad, Tiresh closed her data pad and made her way to the exit ramp as it descended. A squad of Elite Guardians exited the shuttle first, checking the perimeter quickly to make sure it was secure for the Senator.

The small Lujo delegation was escorted inside the massive and elaborate Senatorial Palace, all of them looking around and admiring the majestic display and architecture. The senator raised her eyebrow at the impressive spectacle of wealth and royalty. “Darker then I would personally prefer… but undeniably impressive.” She said quietly to no-one in particular. Tiresh was in the center of the delegation surrounded by six Guardians, all who followed closely behind the escort party that was sent to greet them by their host. They were now being led to meet the mysterious Senator of Had Abbadon.

As they walked, their footprints echoed off the grand walls. Tiresh had no idea what she should expect, and she was admittedly a little nervous at the circumstances. After news of the attempt on her life went public, her name and face had been plastered all across the Alliance holonews and broadcast networks, and it had galvanized a significant amount of support for their cause. Perhaps this was the case for the Iron Senator? Perhaps he was looking to choose a side in this brooding war.

Had Abbadon Senatorial Palace
A Senatorial Usher would open the doors into the chamber bloc of the Palace, walking inside with a few guardsman for protection. Moving himself in a straight and upright fashion as he approached the Iron Senator of Had Abbadon. "Your Excellency, the delegation from Lujo has arrived." The Usher said with a bow, as the Iron Senator would look up from his stack of papers. He had no need for technology within his palace finding it hackable and unreliable. Paper could be burned and torn but he had made sure to copy every document a thousand times over and store them within the vault. His ceremonial iron helmet crowned with gold gazed ahead, with a emotionless expression adorning it.
"Send them in.." The Iron Senator spoke with authority, as the two guardsman at the front of his office would tab their spears twice on the floor. Opening up the chamber door with the two handles. His office was made in a mute style, meaning that no adornments hung from its walls. Grey and stone built as the senator thought that wasting money on furnishing an office was irrelevant next to the demands of his people.
The Second Usher guiding the Senator of Lujo and her bodyguards to this chamber within the palace, quickly excusing himself and the guardsman with him. With a slight bow he was gone in a matter of seconds. If one gazed ahead they would see that the Iron Senator was upon a marble throne, while the stone desk was in front of himself. Two seats were beyond that for anyone to sit upon. They certainly weren't comfortable being stone seats, but they would provide enough support to move forward in the meeting. Covered from head to toe in ceremonial but functional battle armor, a red sash running down from his shoulder. Small silver wings draped his cape on his left shoulder. Not to mention the emotionless but functional helmet he wore to hide his disfigurement. His aura was cold and unmoving.
"Senator Kobitana, have a seat." Senator Dol Amroth said to her, gesturing towards one of the stone chairs. He would offer no refreshments or comforts, as this was simply a meeting and nothing more. He wasn't here to make friends he was here to protect his people from anyone and anything that he deemed a threat. Once there business got concluded then the senator would sent her on her way out the door without a second thought.
"You might be wondering, why I have asked you here. There is a simple explanation...you have made waves within the senate. Good waves or bad waves it doesn't matter. However those waves will affect Had Abbadon, my domain within the senate. And so I ask you senator kobitana, what is your overall goal with this cabal you have formed against the Chancellor?. " The Iron Senator asked her, leaning back on his marble throne to await her answer. He would get straight to the point without pivoting around the issue. There cabal within the senate would affect his planet, his domain, his fiefdom. Knowing their intentions could allow him to position his planet away from these waves to carry on the golden age.

Tiresh raised her eyebrows in slight irritation at the curtness and pointed tone of the Senator of Had Abbadon. Honestly, she had taken the time out of her precious day to visit the recluse, but his demeanor was beginning to rub her the wrong way. She did not take kindly to the assumption that she could simply be “summoned” at his leisure, like some whore. But… she took in a deep breath and offered a quaint smile as she sat down in the terribly uncomfortable chair, motioning for her guardians to remain by the door. She needed to be diplomatic. She needed to watch her own tone. Because, ultimately… she needed his vote.

“A summons to meet with you within the hour… My dear Senator! Do you have any idea how long it takes a lady to prepare herself?” She shifted her weight uncomfortably in the chair, attempting to find something more comfortable, “Next time, two hours would be appreciated, Senator Dol Amroth.” She flashed him an amused smile, although there was likely some irritation hidden within the gesture.

She crossed her legs and placed her arms on top of them, listening intently as the man expounded upon the reason for their meeting. After he had finished, she breathed in deeply and exhaled, preparing to deliver the premeditated pitch that she had already given dozens of times to various other Senators who had asked similar questions,

“I understand your concern at the events that are occurring right now within the Senate, and I appreciate your search for transparency. The simple fact is that this movement is not rooted in some self-interested power play, but it is a deeply felt concern for the safety and the future of the Alliance as a whole. The Maw have successfully levied multiple attacks against core world, including Coruscant itself. The NIO is testing the waters and has, for all intents and purposes, begun a Cold War with the Alliance. The Corporatists have released unregulated mega corporations throughout the southern systems through the SILK act. And now they have crossed the line and are attempting to assassinate other Senators with opposing views.”

She took another breath, pausing for a moment before continuing, “Our goal is to make the voices of the other parties heard and respected within the Senate. We live in a precarious and vulnerable time, and the mono-thematic approach of the Corporatist party is jeopardizing the safety and security of our great alliance. Our greatest concern is securing our borders against the mounting threats, establishing rule of Law reform to root out corruption, and developing fair taxation practices that don’t favor mega corporations. We have many political parties that are coming together despite some of our differences in order to make all of our voices heard against the overbearing Corporatist party which is no longer concerned without hearing our voices. And ultimately, because of the assassination attempts…” She sighed, “I believe it will culminate with a vote of no confidence in the Chancellor, and the establishment of a new Chancellor voted on by the Free Alliance Coalition.”

Had Abbadon Senatorial Palace
The Iron Senator simply ignored her comments about the summons, figuring that as a senator within the senate. One should always be prepared for even the subtle of changes to schedules and meetings. He listened with barely an interested as she rambled on about needing more time to herself. Although this was undetectable behind his iron ornamental mask.
He listened instead when she began to explain the overall goals of the cabal forming against the chancellor. So called "safety and future" of the alliance was nothing but a campaign slogan to carner more votes within the chamber to her side. Chancellor Palpatine in the past had reformed the republic into the empire with the word "security" although they weren't the same word in this context. The meaning behind it was clear to himself. Only under us can you have safety as we are looking into the future. He had thought it nothing but folly but didn't say nothing, allowing her to carry on explaining.
The Brotherhood of the Maw was an issue to every faction within the galaxy, a stronger chancellor would move the alliance forces to battle without concern. Lives might be loss within the conflict and millions would suffer. But the defeat of the brotherhood would allow peace to be restored within the galaxy. Although he understood that a stronger chancellor would still face opposition within the senate. And thus the push for his Imperial Democracy Agenda came clear. Working within the FAC would allow him to push this concept further but he wouldn't officially support them in a public capacity. He was less concerned with the push of the corporatist as they made no profit on had abbadon. Everything was run through the Had Abbadon Trade Committee run by the local merchant guilds which were allowed monopoly on the world in exchange for loyalty.
The New Imperial Order was a major concern as they harkened back to the Galactic Empire, whose policy worked in regards to strength and security. But overall failed to keep order within the galaxy as the start of the Galactic Civil War ended their reign quickly. Senator Kobitana had no evidence that it was the corporatist who were behind the attacks, all of this was merely a vitium card that they could play within the senate.
He let her finish before responding in due time.
"Senator Kobitana, you make some fair points. However as an unbiased individual within this whole schism between you and the chancellor. So I shall respond to each of your points with undue fairness." Senator Dol Amroth said to her, preparing her for his harsh criticism of her plan. He wasn't the Iron Senator of Had Abbadon for nothing and would be as blunt as possible.
"The Corporatist Bloc has no reason to kill you, Senator Kobitana. Considering that they are making quite a profit off of the activities of the FAC. You have presented no evidence towards me that would indicate that they have attempted to assassinate you. You could make a logical conclusion that it is they who are behind the attacks but that is simply hearsay and nothing more. While I do agree that securing the border is vital to the overall safety of the alliance but we have simply not dedicated enough resources to combating our foes on the front lines. Considering we need manpower for such an effort, which senator exactly is going to give up men and women from their planet to go fight the maw on some distant battlefield? None of my subjects want to rush off to war or be suck within some office on the front. And I don't exactly blame them." The Iron Senator started to speak, letting his words sink in before carrying on.
"Any mention of corruption is going to immediately be shot down within that chamber, while establishing rule of law is nice. Any breaking of such laws would go straight to the courts which take even longer to decide than the senate. Need I remind you that we are the legislature of the alliance and not the judge, jury and executioner. While setting a standard is nice among trade taxation to lower the influence of the mega corporations, Standardize trade taxation would only allow more loopholes to formulate, considering that each planet has the ability to set their own tax breaks. Had Abaddon would have a different taxation rate compared to coruscant as we each have our own needs and populations. Pushing said taxation would be discredited as nothing more than attempting to take away the sovereignty of planets when it comes to economic concerns. A stronger front is needed, I agree to challenge the chancellor but my concerns outweigh the benefits of moving my planet in line with the FAC." The Iron Senator said in response to some of her more controversial points. He demanded more transparency when it came to her overall plan as simply wishing something to happen was folly. He needed hard details before he placed his planet in such a position.
"Beyond that, If the removal of the current chancellor comes to pass, who are you going to replace them with?" The Iron Senator asked, needing to know who would replace the chancellor of the alliance, when they were removed from office. It was an important decision to make considering they were the leader of the free galaxy. They didn't need another weak chancellor or one who lacked the votes within the senate to accomplish anything.

Tiresh wasn’t sure whether to laugh or to be angry at first from the blatant arrogance and uninformed remarks shared by the Senator, but as she continued to listen to him ramble on, she clearly began to settle into the angry category. She gripped the chair tightly as she forced herself to wait to respond until the man had shared his peace. Finally, it was her turn, and she came out of the gate guns blazing,

“Forgive me, but when was the last time you personally attended a senate session? Or a Gala? No-one has seen or heard from you in how many years? And yet you have the audacity to lecture me upon the intricacies and nuances of current Senate dynamics?” She took in a deep breath, trying to calm her own temper before continuing,

“You are either ignorant or completely uninformed if you believe that the Corporatist block has no reason to kill me, to be frank. There is a massive movement that has successfully launched its first offensive against the Corporatist block, and I am the perceived organizer of that movement. Is that enough reason for you? Or are you simply unaware of how politics work? Or unaware that those in power will do anything to stay in power? Honestly Senator, don’t be naive. And of coarse I haven’t presented any evidence to you. Why the force would I ever do such an idiotic thing?? I don’t know you, I don’t have any relational equity with you… why for fucks sake would I reveal all my cards to you? Do you believe that I am stupid, Senator? If you do, you are greatly mistaken, and it is my greatest pleasure to enlighten you on the matter.”

She leaned back in her chair, waving a hand gesture to her protection detail that signaled that she was preparing to leave shortly, “Your comments regarding our strategy for tax reform are completely misinformed and ignorant of our actual strategy, of which I have no desire to share with you at this time, and the rest of your thoughts are, well, to be frank... not worthy of a rebuttal. But perhaps I afford you this one piece of insight, Senator Dol Amroth…”

She leaned in closer to the man, glaring at the mask that he hid behind, “Right now, you carry zero weight within the Senate. You have no connections. You have no power plays at your disposal. You have nothing, Senator, and you want to know why?” She couldn’t help but let a bit of a smirk cross her face. It felt so good to be able to lay into this narcissist. “Because you are a recluse who has withered away in the seclusion of your own dungeon for years. Sure, you send your representatives, and I’m sure they take notes, but what happens in the Senate chamber is not of great importance at the end of the day. By then, it’s already been decided, and the pieces have already been set into place… It is what happens outside the senate chamber that actually determines the outcome of Senate sessions. You want to represent your people and protect them? Then crawl out of this hole and do your fucking job! Your system doesn't live in a vacuum, and if you are not representing their interests on the global scene, then who is?”

She stood up abruptly and straitened her dress, “We might not like each other, but if you do decide to grow some balls and begin to step back into the political arena, I believe that it truly is in your planet's best interests to align with us. Most of your party already has, and I believe there is good reason for that.”

She turned and walked towards the exit before turning to leave her parting remarks, “Even iron needs to bend sometimes, Senator. A simple holo-message next time will suffice.”

With that, she turned briskly and left his chambers with her guard detail to make her way back to the Shuttle and back to Coruscant.

Had Abbadon Senatorial Palace
Apparently the Senator of Lujo was nothing more than an emotional child in the disguise of an adult. Instead of rebuffing him with a logical argument befitting of a senator of the alliance. Here she was doing a campaign speech within his own home. He listened to this ramble of nonsense as she went on to explain about her own mental issues before him. Although it was disguised as shifting the blame to himself. The Iron Senator didn't need to attend the senate sessions or attempt frilly galas for no reason. He was a man of action not simple backroom politics. Only cowards engaged in discussions behind close doors. The Iron Will of Had Abbadon would not be so easily intimidated by a whore. He had every right to lecture her about current senate politics due to his aides being there to cast his vote.
He simply shifted in his throne a bit to display his lack of empathy towards her insanity. She had ignore everything that he had said including that the Corporatist block as nothing to gain since they profit from her substantially. Running propaganda against her agenda quite effective in pushing public opinion towards the people who made the galactic economy run. His assumption was right when she had no evidence to bring to the table. All of this was simply hearsay and would discredit her as a lunatic. A ravaging mad woman who shifts blame for all her problems on the corporatist party. She was stupid in all regards, all intelligence had faded from her the minute that she lose control off her emotions. One does not lose control of their emotions during a meeting with another senator.
They had no plans in reality, pivoting around his comments' and dubbing his later comments as not worth mentioning. All that the FAC had was hopes and dreams. Nothing was organized and this pathetic parade of defiance against the chancellor would see them lose their seats. They had wanted his vote and all that they had proved was that they were nothing but a disorganized mob.
He needed no friends within the senate, his system came first and such personal relationships came last. Had Abbadon was experiencing a golden age of prosperity underneath his leadership because he was actually here. Not away on coruscant where debates and pathetic galas were being hosted. He was among his people, fighting with them to secure their future away from an alliance who exploited them. As she finished her ramble, he had focused his mind on his recent piece of legislation concerning local businesses. As she stormed out and he quickly forgot about her.
"Usher, please note down within my agenda to suspend any travel from Lujo and from other member systems of the FAC. Furthermore, no diplomacy will be conducted with those representatives. My iron will not bend to some pathetic rambles of a mad woman." Senator Dol Amroth said, as his usher quickly noted down his official edict and passed it along to the representatives within the local government. Officially the government of Had Abbadon would declare the government of lujo an official persona non grata within its system.
The Iron Senator picked up his quill once again, now that the insane woman was gone. Proceeding to write out his legislation before the senate, although he personally wouldn't attend. A droid would take his place since he wasn't going to bother being in the same chamber as Senator Kaitbana.
