  • Slugger: The IRA Strike-class Frigate was specifically designed to stand up to larger vessels such as cruisers and smaller star destroyers. A heavy compliment of ion cannons can burn through enemy shields and the quad turbolasers pack a heavy punch. While on its own the Strike-class may struggle against its prey, but so long as it has a compliment of bombers or can out number the enemy then it can make short work of larger vessels.
  • Durable: Throughout the IRA Strike-class Frigate are a number of redundant systems. Should a critical system go down there are two others waiting to take over its function. This makes it hard to target specific points on the ship to disable it, or to disable it from within with bording actions.

  • Brute: The Strike-class Frigate has difficulty capturing or disabling vessels equal to its size or smaller than it due to its sheer firepower. While this may be unconsequential in many fleet engagements it does mean the Strike-class is very limited in the goals it can accomplish. It is a war ship, nothing less but nothing more.
  • Expensive: The Imperial Reclamation Authority lacks the resources to produce cruisers or larger ship variants, and the Strike-class is the largest most well equipped ship the Authority can reliably maintain. Not only does this limit the amount of Strike-class Frigates available to the Authority but it also limits the availability to repair such vessels. Few shipyards operated by the Imperial Reclamation Authority have sufficient materials and equipment to do full repairs on a Strike-class, requiring the vessel to travel far from the front lines if badly damaged.

The conundrum of having finite resources is the exact allocation of the budget. The Empire of old lacked these limitations, drawing upon thousands of worlds to fuel the Imperial war machine in a never ending spiral of growth to fix an equally never ending spiral of problems. The Imperial Reclamation Authority barely has a percentage of the resources the old Empire had, instead relying on equipment captured from Imperial warlords or that can be manufactured with a limited budget. It is for this reason the Strike-class Frigates were retrofitted into the current IRA Strike-class, an attempt at creating an answer to enemy capital ships while lacking the necessary resources to build ships of equal size.

Every centimeter of the ship has been painstakingly mapped and if needed retrofitted to achieve this end. It punches far above its weight class while being able to take hits other ships would struggle to survive for long. It is no miracle however. The Strike-class can be easily outcompeted by larger ships if it is alone, but any captain who is put in charge of one of these is at least smart enough to have a compliment of smaller vessels to assure victory is achievable.
