Strategic Ore Works is a wholly owned Trade Federation subsidiary specializing in the extraction, on-site refining, and interstellar distribution of cortosis and phrik. Operating through leased mining concessions, it combines automated excavation with specialist crews and Federation shipping networks. Each shipment receives a documented purity assessment and tracking record, making reliability, rather than mere access to rare materials, its principal selling point.
Federation contracts receive priority, while surplus production is sold to approved manufacturers, governments, and private buyers. The corporation accepts custom refining specifications but does not manufacture finished weapons or armor. Under Viceroy Lodd Grimmin, it favors long-term supply agreements and exclusive mineral rights, investing in local infrastructure where doing so secures profitable, dependable production.
Strategic Ore Works was founded at Viceroy Lodd Grimmin's direction after a Federation procurement review revealed that its manufacturers depended on outside suppliers for strategically valuable minerals. Grimmin considered that dependence both an unnecessary expense and a vulnerability that competitors could exploit. Rather than establish another broad mining conglomerate, he authorized a narrowly focused subsidiary dedicated to cortosis, phrik, and the logistics required to move them.
Federation capital financed the acquisition of selected mining leases, processing equipment, and struggling local contractors on Obredaan. Those assets were consolidated under a single corporate charter, with the Trade Federation retaining full ownership and Grimmin reserving authority over board appointments and major supply agreements. Experienced site managers remained in place where practical, preserving technical knowledge while Federation auditors standardized purchasing, inventory, and shipment records.
The company subsequently established phrik operations on Gromas 16 and supporting freight offices on Orinda and Ord Tessebok. Early production was committed primarily to Federation customers, allowing the corporation to stabilize its refining processes before expanding outside sales. Strategic Ore Works therefore grew not through a spectacular planetary takeover, but through the quieter accumulation of concessions, contracts, and transport access, the mechanisms by which the Federation turns commercial presence into lasting influence.
