The Stormwolf-class Star Destroyer was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, and starfighter transport. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of a Carrier Star Destroyer. At 1,600 metres in length, the Stormwolf was one of the largest mass-produced warships in the Iron Imperial fleet.
Unlike other categories of Iron Imperial Star Destroyer, the Stormwolf-class Star Destroyer was not intended for ship-to-ship combat. Rather, its focus was the transportation of large quantities of starfighters. To that end, the Stormwolf was outfitted with a large number of hangars. This allowed the vessel to carry up to 10 squadrons of starfighters, for a total of 120 craft.
To protect the vessel, the Stormwolf-class Star Destroyer was equipped with both a primary deflector shield, and redundant deflector shield. While the primary shield generators sat nestled within the Stormwolf itself, the redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.
This combination of hangar capacity, and defensive equipment, left the Stormwolf-class Star Destroyer with little space for offensive weaponry. As such, it was equipped with a relatively meager arsenal, consisting of only: 5 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Turbolaser Batteries, and 20 Ion Batteries. Lightly armed, the Stormwolf required escort craft to protect it, so as to not be easy prey for similar-sized vessels.
