SETTING.png

  • Nexus Name: STORMLAND
  • Nexus Alignment: Dark
  • Location: The Deep
  • Affiliation: Formerly Infinite Empire, now neutral.
  • Size: Medium
  • Strength: Strong
  • Accessibility: Very hidden. STORMLAND lays in the furthest reaches of the galaxy, shrouded by dangerous hyperspace phenomena and a hostile environment. Most perplexing about the Nexus, the fact that keeps it hidden for so often, is it's dormancy. The Nexus will hibernate for long stretches of time, remaining unperceivable for thousands of years at a time. Only every 2,000 years, when the stars align in the same way they did when the Nexus was created back in the age of the Infinite Empire, does the Nexus come to life.
  • Description: A normally dormant area of The Deep that flares to life every 2,000 years, bringing with it an intense and endless rainstorm, extreme wind speeds, and constant thunder and lightning. Gravity begins to become unnatural, and loose pieces of turf become ionically charged and float in the air while the Nexus is active. A pillar of dark electrical energy emanates from the point of origin, acting as a beacon to draw in those hungry for power.

  • Moth to a flame: Force sensitives in the neighboring regions of space will feel STORMLAND's draw. The closer they are to the Nexus, the louder it's call. Those aligned with the dark will find this call to be intoxicating. The epicenter of the Nexus is where this call is strongest.
  • Echoes of the past: When the Nexus is active, the voices of those slain in it's creation thousands of years ago haunt the air. Their screams accompany the howling of the wind, a subtle force which may drive the untrained mind mad.
  • Sickness: Light aligned individuals and untrained force sensitives are made slightly ill by the Nexus's dark power, sapping away at their energy ever so slightly. Due to this sickness, abilities that naturally repel darkness such as Force Light may find themselves weakened.
  • Dark power with a price: The beacon at the center is a place of baptism, where those called by STORMLAND's song may bathe in the raw energy. Those who do so will find themselves facing extreme physical damage, with many beings physically incapable of surviving such a process. Those of a weaker mind will be consumed by the Nexus, becoming one of the millions of voices that haunt the wind. Those who do survive, however, will leave empowered, finding their control over lightning significantly enhanced. This is a process for exclusively dark aligned individuals.

POINTS.png

  • Valley of Razors: The valley of razors is an area of lower elevation around the core of the Nexus where wind speeds are at their height. Without proper protection, people traveling through this area will find themselves covered in lacerations, hence the name. The winds rotate in a clockwise-turning cyclone, with only chunks of floating turf providing any kind of shelter for the unarmored. The voices of the dead can be heard in the wind.
  • The Gorge: A pit that goes down for thousands of meters around the Nexus, with only floating turf providing a means of crossing. Rain is endless here, and lightning strikes are abnormally high.
  • The Font of Storms: The epicenter of the Nexus. The ruins of an old Rakattan palace lie here, torn apart by the weathering of time and the insane supernatural weather that reoccurs every 2,000 years. Artifacts of the old Infinite Empire may be found here, though in rough condition. As the deepest part of the structure, all effects will be at their highest potency. The beacon lies at the center, where those willing to risk their physical form can bathe within to gain power.

HISTORY.png

In the year 25,000 BBY, The Deep would be under the control of the Rakattan Infinite Empire, an intergalactic superpower on it's last legs. With a plague ravaging their population that cut them off from the force, mystics of the Rakatta gathered to find a solution. In a last ditch effort to try and retain their force connection, the Infinite Empire would transport nearly a million of their enslaved subjects to The Deep, preforming a ritual they vainly hoped would bring them back their power. Instead, what the Rakatta wound up preforming was the first ever Thought Bomb. The area would be culled in an instant, with millions of souls ripped out of the mortal world in a dark and twisted manner. It was at that moment that the STORMLAND Nexus was born. Dark electrical energy would erupt out of the epicenter of the ritual, and the surrounding area would be twisted by the arrival of powerful winds and torrential rain. It came with a catch, however, as such a sudden release of dark energy was a strain on the force. The Nexus quickly grew dormant, the restless souls trapped within sleeping until conditions found themselves very similar to the day that they were siphoned from the living realm. When the stars align every 2,000 years, STORMLAND comes back from the dead, violently making it's presence known on The Deep once more. Force sensitives will be called by it's echoes, receiving the sweet nectar of power whispered into their ears. The strong willed may resist, the weak drawn in like a moth to a flame. Most frighteningly are the hungry, who will come to seek power.

None have returned from the Nexus alive.
