Technological Terror
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Doubtless the strangest of the anomalously-reactive metals to come out of Helix's forges, Storm Iron is also one of the more common.
This substance gains its name from its strange reaction to impacts. Upon receiving a source of such energy (be it from a projectile impact, explosion, or physical blow) Storm Iron displays immediate piezoelectric properties, discharging a burst of cyan lightning of somewhat variable intensity. This has the effect of weakening most incoming sources of harm by producing a proportionate counter-discharge.
As a rule, the intensity of the electricity scales with the intensity of the trigger. A light tap will produce a spark or two, along with a faint static hum. A slugthrower or blaster shot will produce a crackling arc of energy, along with galvanizing the bluish-green metal.
Storm Iron that has been repeatedly struck in a short window of time visibly sizzles with barely-contained power, rendering it not only unsafe to handle, but unsafe to be near. Storm Iron is intensely conductive as well, and multiple mineral samples of this material, when placed near one another, will repeatedly strike one another with electricity. Nonetheless, correctly-shaped plates of this material will only vent their fury in one direction, rendering it "safe" to use as armor. A warrior clad in Storm Iron will appear to have arcs of lightning dance across their skin, between their fingers, and in extreme cases, from their feet to the ground they walk upon.
Most unusually, Storm Iron appears to have a somewhat casual relationship with the traditional laws of momentum and acceleration. A Storm Iron blade, swung incautiously, will yank itself forward seemingly of its own accord. It is theorized that the substance creates its own gyroscopic effect, not dissimilar to the active blade of a lightsaber.
Practical uses for this substance are few, but Helix has never lacked for inventiveness. Armor forged of Storm Iron insulates its wearer excellently from kinetic and energetic impacts, while rendering them dangerous to strike in close quarters. Blades forged with this substance arc and crackle with energy, and can deliver a stunning shock along with their usual capabilities.

- Production: Mass-Produced
- Material: Helsteel, Helglass, Otherplasma
- Reactive to kinetic energy
- Ideal for arms and armor
- Tempestuous: Storm Iron is lightning given form, and can be shaped into potentially excellent arms and armor.
- Battle-Battery: Storm Iron's electrical potential increases as it is attacked.
- Heavy: Storm Iron is an exceptionally dense material.
- Unbalanced: Storm Iron has a quirky relationship with gravity, and its deceptive weight distribution can make it difficult to use.
