SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Lightsaber Trainer: Steve is a fairly compotent lightsaber training tool. Not only can Steve perform all of the functions of a traditional combat remote, but the droid has also heuristically learned over the years from sparring a variety of Jedi, making him a significantly harder and more unpredictable opponent compared to the average remote. Steve is particularly useful when training students of Soresu because of his rapid-fire blaster (which does not only have a stun setting) and in teaching acrobatic styles like Ataru and Sokan due to his ability to fly and quickly maneuver.
  • Cleaner: Steve has had some ad hoc programming added to his processor by more technologically minded and creative padawans who disliked cleaning to turn him into an impromptu cleaning droid. This programming has attempted to take creatively repurpose his hardware for cleaning purposes: his micro thrusters are used for dusting and his blaster to disintegrate messes or chase away pests. These ‘cleaning’ protocols tend to produce mixed results, either saving padawans a considerable amount of annoyance and time in some instances, while hilariously complicating some of the easiest of tasks in others.
  • Armored Droid Brain Core: When Steve’s basic computer was merged with that of an expensive positronic processor by a padawan, that padawan also sought to provide some extra protection to it by encasing it in a secondary phrik armor casing. This has probably been one of the better thought modifications over the years, as Steve has suffered countless injuries over the years not only from lightsaber sparring, but also from some ill-advised adventures and hijinks of his owners that have led to frequent reconstruction.
  • Self-Destruct: Looking to provide an extra edge and an element of surprise to his combat training, one padawan owner attempted to effectively replicate the effects of a flash-grenade into Steve’s chassis by adding additional circuitry, oversized powerpack, and some extra lights. On its first activation, Steve overloaded this circuitry, causing a power melt-down which caused the droid to explode much like a fragmentation grenade. Thanks to Steve’s armored droid brain core, Steve’s software and personality survived, but much of his chassis had to be rebuilt. Steve has subsequently been rebuilt after using this several times after using it in several desperate situations. During one of these instances, a jawa observing this explosion cried out “Doomba!” which has stuck with the droid as its title ever since.
STRENGTHS
  • Combat Trainer: While built originally as a simple combat remote, Steve is actually a far more capable combatant than a simple remote thanks to the addition of a positronic processor to his initial programming, which has allowed him to heuristically learn after facing dozens of Jedi in mock combat over the years. It is not uncommon for knights and masters to occasionally seek Steve out for training, especially since the droid is particularly well-versed in different velocities for Ataru and Sokan. .
  • A Helping Hand: Unlike the typical target remote, Steve is capable of providing some limited help with household cleaning and other daily mundane tasks.
  • Full of Surprises: Steve has had a number of significant upgrades and modifications over the years from various Silver Jedi owners, including the addition of a vocabulator, droid sensorscope, fire extinguisher, and stereo systems. While none of these upgrades are particularly revolutionary, they do provide the droid’s owner with far more utility than the average Marksman-H remote.
  • Lightsaber Resistant: Steve is armored by a pair of concentric Phrik spheres designed specifically to provide protection against lightsabers due to his role as lightsaber trainer for the Silver Jedi
WEAKNESSES

  • Not really a Roomba: Despite some of his creator's best efforts, Steve’s ad hoc cleaning protocols sometimes actually make more problems or messes than they solve. On occasion, using his micro-thrusters for dusting have pushed off fragile objects which have shattered on the floor. His blaster has left scour marks when trying to disintegrate trash or small pests.
  • Skittish: Steve is a little skittish around any sort of danger – most likely as the result of being a not terribly well-planned experiment that has been subjected to many poorly thought out situations and experiences in the past by immature padawans. He has also been chased around the temple by some rather irate and angry people after some failed attempts at ‘cleaning’. Unsurprisingly, he is not particularly brave and reliable when thrust into dangerous situations.
  • Not Entirely Reliable: The various Silver Jedi padawan who have come into possession of Steve over the years have heavily modified the droid far past the original manufacturer’s recommendations. Combined with inconsistent maintenance and care over the years from his young and immature padawan owners, Steve isn’t exactly the most reliable droid mechanically speaking.
DESCRIPTION
Steve the Doomba started out life as a simple Marskman-H Combat Remote produced on the factory moon of Telti. Over the years, Steve has served dozens of Silver Jedi padawans as an element of their lightsaber combat training, and with those owners, has acquired a large number of mish-mashed modifications, with their quality ranging from the vocabulator of an old 3PO unit and an old fire extinguisher from an R2 unit to advanced positronic processor and durable Phrik armor shells. The one thing that all of these modifications share in common is their owner’s belief that it would make their daily life easier. The actual results of these modifications are debatable, and while Steve the Doomba certainly is far more versatile in daily life than a simple combat remote, Steve can also make things far more complicated than they need to be, particularly if his owner has not fully thought out how events may unfold. After exchanging hands dozens of times over at the Silver Rest, the unorthodox combat remote has found its latest owner in Kyra Perrl.
