Private Stepping Up

Leddie felt the jolt as her HF-3 Aran, the Dagger, came out of hyperspace, walking to the cockpit as she looked at the quad-legged V-3 that was piloting for now.

"Well. This seems to be the place. It's at least the coordinates jagyc'buir gave me." She then got behind the controls, flipping a few switches, and sending out transponder codes as she took over for landing. The twin-tailed fighter slowly started to land, its weight hitting hard as the gear took the landing, leaving the Gred fighter in place. It would be pretty obvious to anyone who'd worked with the clan before the fighter had been tuned, most had by now honestly, and painted with some custom livery: A mando-styled set of jaws on the nose. The rear ramp would open up and Leddie would quickly walk out in her usual armor. Her horns would peek through the holes in the top of the helmet, and the trench coat hid much of her armor. The sort of spacer fair that tended to mark Clan Gred.

"So all he said was I'd learn what we were doing when I got here.... You hiding anything V-3?" The droid just gave a negative whistle.

Jairdain Jairdain

An old friend had contacted her for help with his daughter. It seemed to him that she was lacking in something, and he hoped Jairdain could help her find it. She remembered being that age and feeling so lost. Eventually, she found her purpose and lived her life to the fullest she could.

The Jedi had figured out one of the best places to start might be where she had found her purpose: the Jedi Embassy on Commenor. This place had been through the ringer more than once. It would remain as long as Jairdain had anything to say about it.

After allowing the ship to land and Leddie to exit, she stepped out of the door and into the hangar. She was calm and serene. Nothing was out of place, and she welcomed the girl to the Embassy.

"Nobody here will hurt you, Leddie. I'm Jairdain Ismet, and I've known your father for quite a few years. Welcome to Commenor. Is there anything I can get you?"

Hoping she wouldn't startle Leddie, she didn't try to keep herself hidden and approached out in the open.

Leddie looked seeing the Jedi there. She may not have had the Force, but it wasn't insane to think she was looking at a Jedi. She was surprised when Jairdain said no one would hurt her. She hadn't even thought of that, but it was good to know. "Jairdain? It's nice to put a face to the name. Though... is it that obvious who I am?" She asked, a hint of sass in her tone. She knew the answer good and well, but why not have a little fun with it.

The Zabrak thought for a moment after being asked if she needed anything. Did she...? "It was a long flight. Maybe some food and a shower." She admitted, while V-3 let out a few whistles, prompting Leddie to eye him. He seemed to look up, as if asking if he was wrong. "And V-3 is wondering if you have oil baths here." She said, knowing he probably needed one anyway, but not liking that was standing in front of a Jedi of all people and having to ask.

Jairdain Jairdain

Giving the teen a friendly smile, she didn't think Leddie wanted an answer to her question. Then again, maybe she did.

"It is nice to put a voice to the name. I expected your arrival today, and your father told me."

Shrugging her shoulders, she turned slightly and motioned for the two of them to follow her. Listening to the answers, she was happy that Leddie could understand her droid.

"Yes, certainly. I can help with all of that."

This was a public facility, and the maps were spaced to guide guests to the different areas. Even if Jairdain couldn't read, she could point to the maps, and Leddie could tell her droid where to go.

"Let me take you to my rooms here, and he can find you there after his bath. Do you want anything specific to eat? The kitchens here are spectacular."

Leddie smiled under the helmet, then heard V-3 whistling again. "I'll be fine V-3. This is Commenor, not some Sith ruled world." Manda knows she wouldn't be here if it was. "Go enjoy the oil bath and you can be paranoid later." The droid looked between Leddie and Jairdain, finally letting out some positive sounding Binary before skittering off. Leddie smirked under the helmet, then heard the Jedi ask if there was anything specific she wanted to eat.

"Oh! I haven't had anything spicy in weeks." She said. It was true. While the Gred Fleet was effective at trade and growing, sometimes more important issues came up. Like needing a lot of replacement parts at once. "So.... I've heard some things, but what exactly do you do here?"

Jairdain Jairdain

It was nice to see that Leddie's relationship with her droid was as positive as it was. Droids were one thing Jairdain would never understand, and she had tried more than once. Maybe one reason was that she couldn't see them. They didn't truly have emotion, even with programming, and she couldn't read them through the Force. Waiting for him to roll away, she nodded at the request for something spicy and headed to her rooms.

Listening to the question she asked, she was quiet for a few moments as they walked.

"Right now, I am a simple Master of the Order. With Commenor no longer an active power in the Galaxy, I fell back to the Jedi. So I live here, have an estate in the country where I can escape and work with people seeking refuge."

She was also an advisor, consular, and diplomat, but none of those details really mattered at the moment. Placing an order for some spicy food and something tamer for herself, she offered Leddie a drink when they arrived at her rooms.

"Please make yourself comfortable. The food should be here in just a few minutes. It doesn't usually take the kitchen long to prepare something.

"Do you have any idea why your father contacted me?"

Wanting to know about Leddie and what brought her here would influence what she tried to do for her.

Leddie followed Jairdain as she explained a little about what she did, and noted some details of Commenor. When she mentioned her estate, Leddie looked over a little, seeming somewhat surprised. "I can see why jagyc'buir trusts you, and this planet overall." Always being on the move and watching the fleet pick up spacers and freed slaves over the years had made her thankful to found others more willing to do the same, especially when it didn't exactly win many points with other Mandos.

As Leddie was offered the drink, she'd finally slip off her helmet, showing her face. She quickly adjusted the little jeweled chain that hung between her horns, and then started to try and relax before hearing the Jedi Master's question. She paused for a moment. He dad did like surprises. Leddie thought before answering. "Well, he did say he wanted me to help out here. I've going out on more and more missions, but I think he still worries about me. Plus probably to say 'Hey! We're alive. Just always on the move.'" She said, trying to mimic Mig's voice to mixed results.

"This is a nice planet and my home. While you're here, we can visit my estate if you want. How much exposure to green and nature have you had?"

There was genuine curiosity in her tone, and Jairdain did not sound like she might be faking the question. Not that she felt Leddie would even think that, but she figured it would be best to be open to the girl. She wore a friendly look, and that never changed.

Hearing the arrival of the food, she opened the doo,r and the server came in. She set the food down and left the room silently. Jairdain walked over to the table and picked up the food for Leddie and held it out for her.

"That is quite pungent. I hope you enjoy it! Mine is a nice, stout nerf stew."

Picking up her bowl, she took a bite and set it back down. Smiling at what Leddie said, she had answered her previous question. She wouldn't imagine Leddie had seen much of nature.

"Help out. Hum. Let me think about that for a few minutes. The first thing I can think of, though, is maybe helping at the estate. The grounds there can get wild. It is always nice to get the I'm alive message."

Leddie smiled when she saw the food, chuckling a bit at the "pungent" remark. "Hey, what can I say? I grew up on this kinda stuff." She said, smiling before taking a bite. It was good. It'd honestly been too long. Hopefully Last Leg would be up and running soon enough to grow the spices they'd need itself before too long. She then noticed that Jairdain seemed to pick up the answer to her question about how much nature she'd seen.

"Yeah.... Space isn't exactly the most green. There are a few hydroponics ships, but other than that it's mostly a handful of trips planet side" She admitted. She thought about it. Was it really that odd to just live up there in the stars? Then Jairdain offered to let Leddie help around her estate. She thought about it for a moment. "That does sound like fun." She noted. The Mandalorian hadn't really done anything like that since she was little. Before the invasion of Concord Dawn.

"It would be nice to relive some of the food I had growing up. I didn't pay attention to what my mother did when she cooked, plus being blind didn't help. So I sometimes throw together flavors I remember, but they aren't quite the same. So I eat pretty normal food."

Shrugging and taking another bite of the stew, Jairdain nodded as Leddie continued, telling her about the plant life in space. Some people could live that nomadic type of life. The Jedi, though, wasn't one of them. She needed her connection to the ground and the nature of a planet.

"It'll be a change for you, I'm sure. Once your droid joins us, we can gather up any supplies we might need. There is more than enough room for the two of you to stay for a while."

Leddie Gred Leddie Gred

Leddie nodded, chuckling a bit. "Yeah.... Sounds like Dalyc'buir (mom) describing me trying to cook." Leddie would both look and feel less than pleased remembering her last attempt. She then looked at Jairdain noted that the planet would be a change of pace. She wasn't wrong either.

"The Dagger will be ok here, right?" She asked before hearing some of the mechanical whirs of V-3 crawling back, sounding at least a little more well running. She then took a breath, nodding a little as she thought about how this would go. On a planet, at an estate, with a lot of room. This would be interesting.

Jairdain Jairdain

Laughing at what Leddie said, it was nice to form this relationship with the teen. Both of her daughters were grown adults and had their own lives now. Her youngest was reaching thirteen and training with her father. Jairdain had taught her what she could, and now it was time to be with Jax.

Her laughter wasn't at the girl but with her.

"It will be fine, but we can take it there along with a shuttle if it will make you more comfortable. The choice is yours."

Opening the door to allow her droid to enter, she closed it after him and looked in the direction of Leddie.

Leddie smiled and let out a laugh before seeing V-3 walked in, letting out multiple Binary whirs. The Zabrak tapped his head disc before looking at Jairdain. "I'd feel more comfortable bring the Dagger. V-3 can always fly it there." The droid let out a few more beeps, with Leddie just eying him. "You can handle it fine." She said before looking over at Jairdain.

"So. When do we get going?"

Jairdain Jairdain

"Of course, that will be fine."

Her estate was large enough to hold the ship and even her own, if she ever needed it. Jairdain was one to stay in place and didn't like change very much. The trip wouldn't be too long, and she expected to take a transport speeder. If Leddie wanted to be on her ship, which would be acceptable to the Master.

Once the droid returned and Leddie asked when they could get going, she couldn't help but laugh. Trying to remember what it was like to be young again, she didn't think of the impatience they had.

"Let's finish eating. Will you need any changes of clothes or a special diet?"
