STANDARD FEATURES

• The Starshrike-class is outfitted with all the features one would expect from a starfighter of its size and purpose.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS

• Detachable Cockpit: Built from stronger, but somewhat heavier, alloys and ceramic than the rest of the interceptor, the Starshrike's cockpit is designed to be detachable in an emergency, allowing it to double as an improvised escape pod. The limited space would make this highly uncomfortable over longer periods, and the lack of anything but the barest minimum of supplies means that the pod is more likely than not to become a fancy coffin unless collected with relative promptness. It is common practice for these vessels to carry a single dose of a potent neurotoxin, designed to induce an artificial coma in stranded pilots to lower their energy consumption... and allow them to perish painlessly should rescue crews not arrive in time.

Strengths:

• Compact Mobility. Comprised of little more than a cockpit, slender wings, and numerous manoeuvring thrusters, the Starshrike is designed to evade all but the most precise weaponry.
• Pack Tactics. Small of mass and designed with foldable wings, the Starshrike is well suited to being launched in large numbers from carriers. When battle is joined, a highly efficient communications suite allows pilots to coordinate their actions with devastating efficiency, at least when properly trained.

Weaknesses:

• Compact Sting. Given its small frame, it should come as no surprise that the Starshrike is minimally armed, especially given its role as an interceptor; its single precision laser cannons is, due to its low firing rate and middling power-output, all but useless against anything bigger than a Starfighter, and its warhead launcher is designed for small but accurate missiles.
• Social Predator. While able to engage in one on one skirmishes, the lack of a Hyperdrive makes the Starshrike reliant on a carrier, and its small frame prevents it from carrying anything but the barest necessities in the way of supplies.
