Have you ever tried to load one hundred cases of Corellian whisky? How about moving a flock of Endorian chickens from one planet to another? Cargo-handling can be dangerous, tedious, and troublesome. This becomes even more apparent in smaller ships with single pilots or small crews or with cargo bays that require freight to be kept secure and organized throughout long trips. The StarPorter was designed with these concerns in mind. The package can permit automated loading and ensure freight remains safely stowed away, even carbon-freezing or placing perishable freight into stasis for longer voyages.
While the StarPorter makes life easier, reducing workloads and helping to make for safe, easy trips and secure deliveries, it isn’t without risks and limitations. Cargo nets break, freight shifts, and sabotage can cause a big mess. Even severe turbulence can cause containers to move and netting to become loose, requiring it to be secured again. Stasis fields that are improperly calibrated or carbon-freezing not performed correctly can result in hibernation sickness, even death. Also, it’s important to know that the carbon-freezing chamber won’t accept a bantha or some other very large creature or container, meaning you’re just gonna have to deal with mess of moving such creatures about the old-fashioned way!
