STRENGTHS
  • Deadly Grip: Starlin's right hand possesses a strength roughly seven times that of a normal human, enabling him to potentially break bones with his crushing grip.
  • The Wolverine: You know I had to do it. The prosthetic hand includes three retractable claws which are made from the same material as the skeleton, making them resistant to lightsabers.
  • Shut Down All the Garbage Mashers On the Detention Level!: The index finger of the hand features a scomp link which can be used to connect to a console. That said, this feature is useless unless paired with an exterior gadget featuring a computer, such as the G1 OmniLink or a personal datapad.
  • HUD: The cyberscanner can detect motion, lifeforms, energy signatures, and other common targets, displaying them via a holoprojector.
  • Waterproof: Being submerged in water will not short out the hand, unless the circuitry has been exposed. (see weaknesses)
WEAKNESSES
  • Pulling Punches: While his grip is now exceptionally strong, the muscles of Starlin's arm remain only as strong as he conditions them to be. For instance, a punch from his right hand will not do as much damage as a grab, crush, or choke.
  • Claws Out: While the sensors automatically deactivate when the claws come out, it is possible for this feature to malfunction. In which case, the hand will register their emergence as pain stimuli, the severity of which is equivalent to, well, being impaled through the hand by three ultra-sharp knives.
  • Exposed: The synthskin may be damaged or destroyed, resulting in the hand's inner circuitry being exposed. In this state, water or electricity/ION energy can impair his ability to operate the prosthesis.
  • Lack of Vision: The cyberscanner's range is limited to medium range detection, or roughly 3-4 meters, and of course the scanner itself can be jammed or otherwise disabled.
  • Disruptors: Should the prosthesis be hit by a disruptor beam, it will be instantly atomized. Probably Starlin along with it.

"She had done her best with the prosthetic. To make it resemble living flesh. The skeleton was cortosis weave durasteel with increased (Read: Deadly) grip strength and three retractable razor sharp claws between the knuckle, which sprouted from hidden seams between the knuckles "tissue" cover. It was meant to be upgraded, so she had left him as much wiggle room on the prosthetic as she could." - Laertia Io, "The Red War: Abraxas"

Following the loss of his right hand in a duel with Cotan Sar'andor Cotan Sar'andor on Dantooine, Starlin Rand's severed hand was considered unsalvageable and unable to be reattached. A prosthetic limb was devised by Laertia Io Laertia Io , featuring a cortosis-weave/durasteel skeleton outfitted with a superhumanly strong grip and, in fitting with her love of comics, three Wolverine-esque retractable claws between the knuckles sprouting from hidden seams in the synthetic tissue. The prosthesis would be further augmented to include a built-in scomp link accessed by pulling back the artificial nail of his index finger and a cyberscanner.
