DESCRIPTION
The Starbird-class was among the last designs selected for study as part of the Pacific Program, and ironically, the only design to be successfully implemented during the Sith-Republic War. The Starbird Project started 843 ABY. The design team worked at an unprecedented pace, and completed the final design in mid 844 ABY. Construction began immediately at Commenor, and the inaugural squadron was launched in 846 ABY. The Starbird-class saw some action during the conflict, but proliferated outside the Core after the Republic collapsed. The Starbird-class is a popular product for planetary governments, especially those closer to major hyperlanes.
