Star Wars Vader Shards of the Past/What's your favorite fan film?

[member="Ella Nova"]

I'm gonna have to say that is pretty much wrong. A fan film like what was shown isn't really cheap. Measuring about a budget of 150 grand. Which was impressive given what we got and given the numerous concept art. There will be a part 2. As SW theory being a fan himself. Its not about the money. Given the subject of what he posted after the film which he even shelled out his own money to rent a theater for fans to see this. And it was free to see. This being a cash grab there is no proof. But if your going to make an awesome project like this happen of course your gonna need money for actors. Production effects and the like. Personally he is doing this just to have something for the fans to enjoy in this rough year we had. No one is made of money and so of course you are gonna need support either through donations, merch and the like. Heck even through views are enough. He originally wanted to do a full length movie but given a limited budget on the scale seen here. He has to divide up into parts. Now how you can point out how this is a cash grab when of course as I said for a fan film you are gonna need money I am curious to hear as this like all fan projects are made from the passion of a fan for the fans.

To create any production of the quality that SW Theory made requires money and the end product needs to create money as well. It's logical to assume that because he created a follow up video where he said that he requires some investment from his fans (in the form of Patreon and PayPal) means that the end product didn't create enough revenue to create a part two without fan's helping. Beside the production costs of part two there is also the incentive to create this trilogy to attract new traffic to his channel, his Patreon and PayPal. These subscription services are built to be long term and so there will be new (and old fans) who will subscribe to Patreon (and send money to PayPal) that will continue their subscriptions for several reasons too long to list.

Then there is the fact that he is creating content from a franchise he doesn't own or have any rights in. So he is creating new revenue streams and traffic to his content by using someone else's content to make profit from. This trilogy wasn't made for fans. It was made for monetary purposes. It's based on the stealing of other people's content whilst simultaneously deceiving fans into giving him money for a production he doesn't have any right to make. The thing about YouTube and this new medium of content creation is that he probably won't receive any backlash. It's a win for him.

There won't be a part two for these reasons.

It's not monetary if he poured his heart and soul into the project if he really wanted to. And that is the point of a fan film don't you think "Fan" Emphasis on that very part as it is clearly obvious that you do not need the exclusive rights to the franchise or you wouldn't see the hundreds of Fan Films all across the web. If it was monetary are there any specific reasons you can give that backs up this theory. He rented out a theater where tickets were free to hundreds if not thousands of his fans, which if you haven't noticed. The fandom has been sort of a mixed bag this year where he wanted to create something that brings people together for the love of Star Wars. The whole point is to not create this to attract new traffic even though with the people talking about it it's going to anyway.

With his intent to which he spent his own money on. It's very doubtful that it was for monetary purposes and really doesn't matter if he is creating content from a franchise he has no rights too, as long as it's for the fans with the passion he has and permission from Lucasfilm. To which he got the go-ahead from, which also puts a stop to the whole monetary theory you are talking about. Is he cannot make money from the fan film, and thus brings us back as to why he has merch, why even views help, and why donations would be needed and after seeing perhaps thousands if not millions of people loving this film. It seems very likely that an Ep 2 is going to happen.

Correct how? It's YouTube as copyright claims for pieces of music especially for one piece of it within a fully unique soundtrack is not surprising, and the claim was manually done, that was Disney's part yes, but he still got the okay from Lucasfilm which the claim has nothing to do with them. Nor does it prevent SW Theory's passion to succeed in creating episode 2 just because other people make money from the first episode

You're a young man. Perhaps one day you will listen. The man didn't make a penny off the Vader fan film. He will not create part two. All Patreonage he has received in between that last video and now will not be used to create a trilogy. You have observed a con.

I just watched that Vader fan film and was about to post it here. Only to see that someone else already has. The movie was awesome. I loved it. I hope they make the other planned episodes too.
