Aboard a Republic Frigate to Anaxes

There was never anything comforting about war. There was never any solace with battle. Even those with a bloodlust felt some sort of remorse — maybe. Kiskla wasn’t sure if the Sith that had attacked Coruscant felt much of anything. She hoped though, will all her heart, that they were in pain at least.

Many had been forced back, and now Kiskla and some other Jedi were onboard a frigate to Anaxes to regroup and discuss with the Senate their next step. But they didn’t have long for a conversation — not with the One Sith breathing down their necks.

There were things to be done, following the invasion.
First, the youthful master sent a correspondence of appreciation to The Jedi’s allies. The Chancellor could handle the Protectorate and Confederacy. It was imperative that she reach out to those that were assisting the Jedi however, in order to maintain allegiances. Something she’d grown used to her in her position of Reconciliation.

“To my brothers and sisters of the Silver Jedi,

I want to extend a personal message of gratitude on behalf of the Jedi Order. Without your participation in protecting innocent lives on Coruscant, many would have been lost to the Sith’s shadow.

However, I cannot refer to what hit us as merely a figure of darkness, a shady image that is cast. These Sith are more than a shadow. They are the epitome of darkness and evil in the galaxy, and you helped us save lives from them.

For that, I am grateful. And indebted.” At this, Kiskla’s blue hologram dipped at the waist; physically ensuring her sincerity before she continued. For such a youthful face, she looked troubled beyond her years. Probably because of the responsibility she was facing — nevertheless, it would be faced with the capabilities she was known to have.

“I hope not to rack up too many debts however, but this is a vile enemy we must thwart.

If any of your knights wish to fight by our side again, we welcome them. This is not a threat we intend to ignore, and we will be fighting back.

Again, my wholehearted gratitude to those who risked their lives to save others. If there’s anything I can do, don’t hesitate to ask.

May the Force be with you all.” And then the transmission from the Master of the Order transmitted one more dutiful bow before ending.

So many questions were left unanswered. How many had died? How many families were ruined? Why had they come? How long had they been preparing for this? Why didn’t the Jedi kills these beasts before they came to The Republic’s capital? Who where they, and where did they come from?

Kiskla hoped to answer the latter. And carefully peel away what weren’t the correct options. She had seen something that day, through her enhanced psychometery, when she touched the shuttle the Sith had come in. No matter how many times she replayed the images to herself, however, the planet was unfamiliar to her. She needed help. The Jedi, nor the Republic, were juggernauts of wanton destruction and brutality. That label would be stuffed down the throat of any who dared insinuate it. They were defending their citizens against the real enemy. No bucket heads, no confused Jedi that called themselves dark, no monster hunters. The real enemy. Sith. Visions and manifestations of darkness. The kind of things that bumped in the night, the stories that parents told their children to get them to be obedient. The real enemy.

After she figured out where they came from, she hoped to visit each of the Jedi who were sick individually. Even if it was brief, and reinforce their morale. At least those also on this frigate to Anaxes. She had refused medical attention for herself until others who were far mores serious had been stabilized. Pride was only a fraction of that decision — necessity was the majority. The medical facilities were overrun with demand, and Kiskla only had torn skin and surface wounds. There were others far deeper. She had, however, accepted the insistence for bacta patches. These were against the arm that had suffered Vornskr’s blaster fire, stuck against the flesh beneath bandages. Her torso was also tightly wrapped and reinforced — but nothing could be done for bruises and slightly cracked ribs. The cuts on her face were dried; but they were small. And the burns from the lightsabers of manipulated padawans? They too would heal. Idly, she wondered if they remembered any of it; being Vornskr’s puppets to kill her.

Once the transmission ended, she sent a request to two masters who had fought to the bitter end with her. Two masters who had spent a portion of their life wandering through the stars and knew more about planets than she did. [member="Darron Wraith"] and [member="Ben Watts"]. They were somewhere aboard this ship, but she wanted an isolated room; and the briefing quarters served well enough — as she had a feeling they’d be needing a map to confirm their suspicions.

The metalloid Nautolan sat in the cushioned chair as he listened to the transmission. He did not appear to be the proud Jedi Knight of his species anymore. He was a shadow of his former self. Encased in an steel coffin that kept him alive. He was a walking hospital. Were it not for the MLSS (Mobile Life Support Suit), he would be bedridden for the rest of his life. The suit used a complex series of apparatuses that pumped his blood and kept him breathing. A plasteel body suit kept him regularly hydrated. He considered the words of [member="Kiskla Grayson"] at great length. His index finger gently stroking the jawline of his helmet, a habit he hadn't lost even in injury. A deep rumbling came from his stomach, animalistic in nature. His throat was no longer able to produce words, requiring the suit to speak for him. He had lost so much of himself in the defence of Coruscant. Was it for nothing? he asked himself.

His helmet turned to look at the others present in the library. Luminescent silver escaped from the twin eye slits. Hasjo looked like the martial embodiment of the Silver Jedi Order. While not tall, beneath that suit he rippled with muscle. An array of exotic and versatile weapons lined his belt. He motioned with his hand as he spoke, the transmission with the Jedi Master having ceased. Hasjo said with a virtual voice "I must help them. I have studied within the Temple on Coruscant since the age of four. To abandon them would be to ignore those who made me into the Jedi I am today."

Kiskla could understand the amount of weight on everyone's shoulders, but that didn't prevent her deep frown when checking her chrono. She paced about the room for a few more minutes, still gathering The Force's focus to her core in order to pull this feat off.
Then, something clicked. The new Chancellor was hundreds of years old. This report was going to end up in his tiny, sluggy hands anyways. Why not attempt to cut out the middleman and establish their relationship right now? The Jedi and The Republic worked together to defend their people -- now was a good as time as ever to introduce herself.

It would also save her energies and not demand she flow walk others through the series of images she had uncovered from her touch. Actively, she took a seat at one of the computers within the briefing room that lined the walls. The information she would uncover wouldn't be as thorough as what would be available to her in the archives, but her codes managed to get her a lot of information. If the votes for Grandmaster went through, she would be privy to much much more. That was what Carn had been worried about before; what would she find that would tarnish her nievity?

Nevertheless, Kiskla sat for a good half hour trying matches to key words from her visions. She saw a lot of dust, and machines that hadn't been seen since Kryat's reign. The hyperspace they had travelled was limited to Coruscant, so through more and more searching, the blonde determined that they were quite near Republic borders. They also had to have been brewing somewhere unnoticed, and in an area that harboured Sith. Ashin Varanin had admitted to housing Sith -- so Kiskla adjusted the search closer to Fringe space; based on a hunch and allowing whatever investigative nature The Force had to lend to guide her gut. Unfortunately, Kiskla was no star-wizard, and only determined the vague region that matched her searches based on her visions and the intel reports that were being fed to her every hour as more information was uncovered.

She quickly downloaded it to a datacard and pocketed it, sending a correspondence to the shiny new Chancellor.

"Chancellor [member="Popo"],
Congratulations on your elect position, although it's unfortunate you had to take such an uncomfortable seat during this time.
If you wouldn't mind being my audience, I believe I have some information on where the attackers of Coruscant came from.

I need your help, however.
Hopefully you know this galaxy.

Regards,
Kiskla Grayson."

I'm Sexy and I Know It
A message arrived promptly from Popo's personal office for [member="Kiskla Grayson"] in response.

Master Grayson,
Thank you for your congratulations. You are, unfortunately, correct about the current times and the uncomfortable chair I now occupy. I must take time to have it resized before the next Senate hearing. I would be most delighted to hear what you have found. Any and all information is desperately needed and required if we are to win this conflict.

What area of the galaxy did you need my input on? I did travel around as a young Hutt for a number of years. I might just know a thing or two.

Sincerely,
Popo

Apparently the Chancellor still had a sense of humour.
She sent a reply.

I've pinpointed a system within The Core Worlds, even more centralized in the Farlax sector. I have some information I'd like to show you -- it's attached to this message. I have more, but unfortunately it's not files, but rather collective images picked up through The Force...Jedi things.

If you're available, I'd like to start a conference call once you review the information. I'm aboard an extractive frigate to Anaxes now. I think it would be wise to convene with yourself and The Jedi Council to collectively review what information we have on these enemies before making a decision or a move ahead.

Regards,
Kiskla Grayson

Sitting in some muddy pit somewhere, Phylis reviewed the message with a frown. Who would have thought a Hutt could be amused by something other than feeding people to rancors?
Still, she didn’t really have much to add to the conversation, and her otherwise irrelevant thoughts were only here because the Grandmaster’s writer probably expected some sort of reply!

She hoped they’d give her a date and time. That way she could make sure she was actually somewhere to receive a holocall.
