Well it seems like most everything has been said.
What I agree with is that near humans can interbreed with humans. Though gaining the abilities of both races is dumb. You can't have half of something and still possess full abilities of both.
Also breeding with species that are not even close should be impossible. Example being a Togruta and a Human. Totally different physiology outside of the basic bipedal shape.
Probably the biggest problem I have is people mixing shape shifters with non shape shifters. This is another impossibility. Not it can be done and have some weakness. No. It is NOT possible. The shape shifting DNA would destroy the DNA parts that can't shape shift the instant the being tried.
At the very best you could get maybe the eye color from the human into a shi'ido. And even then it would have to be done by geneticists. It could never be pulled off naturally. And at that point it would still be 99.99% shi'ido and 0.01% human, or vice versa. But at 99.99% human and 0.01% shi'ido, the being would NEVER be able to shapeshift AT ALL. They probably wouldn't live much beyond normal human years. And at best they might glean the telepathic abilities of shi'ido AT BEST.
As for others, things like Toydarian/Human....NO!

Gammorian/Human...HELL NO....god why would anyone want that? lol
