SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:

  • Heavy Laser cannons give this a significant punch against shielded targets and can chew through other fighters.
  • Control system gives excellent feedback.
  • Modular design make the vessel easy to service.
  • Lightweight frame and lack of ordnance make the vessel highly manoeuvrable. Overall an excellent duelling fighter.
Weaknesses:
  • Lack of ordnance reduces flexibility in attacking capital ships, or tracking targets not in line of sight.
  • Control system takes some practise and tuning for each pilot.
  • More limited range than typical X-Wing (only a few hexes between refuels)
Description:
The Alliance has long relied on an ageing fleet of X-Wings either inherited from the Republic or constructed by Incom from older specifications to meet the production lines of the One Sith head on. The new Sprite-class X-Wing is one of the first new fighter designs from the company to be introduced into mainstream service with the Alliance.

Feedback was given that something with extra manoeuvrability was required to meet the First Order's volume of TIE Interceptors. With the D-Wings, B-Wings, and K-Wings all successfully taking on bomber roles it was decided to create a model as a flexible space-superiority craft. The offset s-foils look uneven but the craft has an exceptional on-board computer that keeps it well balanced and highly manoeuvrable.

Pilots are given feedback from a range of internal monitoring systems and sensors using a variety of means. Feedback comes through the controls and haptic pads attached to the flight suit. The viewscreen is an augmented-reality display that has a limited dept of field of holographic projections overlaid on the display. The pilot's headset provides a 360 degree angle of sound projection. The computer and astromech work out which feedback is highest priority (tuned to individual pilots) and bring this to the pilot's attention in the most appropriate manner.

The ship sports four laser cannons, each more powerful than the typical X-Wing model. Whilst the vessel lacks ordnance for mounting heavy assaults on capital ships the vessel can chew through the shields and hull of fighters and still conduct limited, precision strikes against weapon emplacements on larger capital ships.

Feedback from Alliance pilots has been excellent, most praising the responsive controls, manoeuvrability and on-board computer that let's them focus on the battle.
