Inanna Harth
Jedi Knight
"Why complicated?"
"Lao-mon was a dangerous place long before the Mawites showed up to conquer it," she said, her smile carrying with it an air of bittersweet nostalgia. "That never changed. When nearly every wild creature you encounter is out to eat you, rebuilding becomes complicated, yes."
Her question seemed to bring out some discomfort, and Aron's answer revealed that he didn't know why the Foundation had shacked up with the RNR either. Inanna avoided turning it into a gotcha, instead giving him a sympathetic look. "I understand how you feel, even if I don't necessarily agree with you. Generally speaking, it isn't a good idea for the Jedi Order or any other religious organization to be so attached to a secular government. But I prefer to try to make things better from the inside, rather than create something new based on how I think the galaxy should be."
In her opinion, most of the problems with both factions could be traced to poor leadership. She wasn't a natural leader, nor did she think she had the kind of strong will to resist temptation if she were given true power, but she could step up on the smaller scale. Enough that she could make a significant impact. The rest of the issues boiled down to a few loud voices espousing bad policy or just plain wrong claims. As long as they were kept from positions of authority, they could just be ignored.
