DESCRIPTION

Designed as a unique, and very secret, project for the Blackwatch, the construction project that produced the Ebon Claw was known to those who needed to know, as Project Gauntlet. Officially a courier vessel for the Eternal Fleet, the basic construction was done openly, before the unfinished vessel was turned over to HUTT for fitout.

From here, the corvette was outfitted with state of the art engines of a class usually seen on destroyers, giving her blinding speed at sublight, perfect for fast insertion, and fast exit. What the corvette lacks in heavy weapons it makes up for in advanced defensive systems, from heavy overlapping multple shields to ablative armor and anti concussion fields.

Well protected, the interior design is extremely versatile, with cargo areas, troop barracks and even a full surgical medical suite adjacent to the starfighter hangar. Internal corridors are fitted with defensive weapons, rayshields, and the vessel has several armories for crew and transported troops. A garrison of Ultranauts is primary ship security, however the nature of the ship means there is always a heavy Blackwatch Psi Corps presence.

Near the bow of the ship is the command bridge, which contains a seriously advanced multi holodisplay, as well as access to the ship's high power hypercomm unit, allowing instantaneous communication anywhere in the galaxy. Protected by Blackwatch's finest encryption, it is a very secure system, with active and passive electronic defenses. Access to the ship's advanced power distribution systems are also located here, providing controls from everything from life support to the cloaking device and stealth systems.

Armaments for the corvette consist of six ball turrets, each armed with two linked heavy laser cannons, which can provide excellent anti starfighter defense, or fire support to any landing operation, though they are poorly suited to take on capital ships. Also on the external hull are four secure docking ports where land or air vehicles can secure themselves with the ship for ease of transport.

Important to the design overall is that the ship can appear outwardly as a medium freighter, which is often the preferred insertion method, given her unique design. The ship's sensor masking and stealth systems are able to produce the facsimile of the appropriate power signature, keeping the Ebon Claw's true nature hidden.
