SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

• Hive. The Sovereign can launch a large amount of attack craft. Combined with the large squadron sizes of the Contingency ships this can be literally dozens of attack craft.
• Flak. The Sovereign is well protected from enemy warheads and attack craft both with its own fighters and from the massive amount of defence guns it has. It can also deal heavy damage to enemy corvettes and frigates through use of fast mount guns.
• Phase. With the Quicksilver drive the Sovereign can jump forward suddenly, either to get closer to launch or escape an enemy attack.

Weaknesses:

• Guns. With the exception of the few long range guns it possesses, the Sovereign lacks the weapons to engage an enemy capital ship effectively. Any ship of destroyer size or above will outgun it.
• Speed. The Sovereign is not designed for close fighting. If it gets into combat its slow speed will not let it escape quickly.
• Armour. Though still well armoured, it lacks the massive protection of the Devastator. Combined with its lacking weapons, it will lose a heavy duel with a large enemy ship.

Description:
Designed to complement the Devastator Class, the Sovereign is well equipped to unleash a hail of attack craft and defensive fire. It lacks the heavy weapons of that assault destroyer, but makes up for it somewhat with powerful anti-starfighter defences.

In battle it tends to stay behind or below a Devastator, supporting it, and being shielded in turn by it.
