Sounds With Lyrics You Find Profound

An easy thread idea, post songs with lyrics that you find to be particularly profound; either in their underlying message, choice of words, or anything else that you can imagine.

Die for Christ
Die for Allah
Die for Jerusalem
Die for Torah

Father and son marching in rhythm
Firing bullets through
The skulls of the children

Holy war
Mortars and martyrs
Holy war
Unholy followers
Holy war
Brainwashed with death
Holy war
Unholy mess

I reject
The laws of the misguided
False prophets imprison nations
Fuelling self annihilation

I reject
Pocket lined political demons
Who arm the ignorant
For election season

Empires buried in sand
A history of the failures in man

Armies of guardians
Servants of bibles
Reciting verses
As they stand before rifles

Millions of lives erased
Hatred marked as madness
Violence in leaves of scripture
A world aflame with malice

We will all die for nothing
There is silence in the house of God
There is only the cry of hell
There is silence in the house of God
There is only the cry of hell

Holy war
Mortars and martyrs
Holy war
Unholy followers
Holy war
Brainwashed with death
Holy war
Unholy mess

Die for Christ
Die for Allah
Die for Jerusalem
Die for Torah

Father and son marching in rhythm
Firing bullets through
The skulls of the children

Holy war
Holy war
We will all die for nothing
We will all die for nothing

This song is one of my personal favorites, I love how it entails the self-destructive nature of the war in the Middle East, and despite how feverishly each side may fight for their chosen ideology or religion, it will most likely end up amounting to nothing in the end no matter how much blood is spilled for any one cause.

A warning to the people, the good and the evil
This is war
To the soldier, the civilian, the martyr, the victim
This is war
It's the moment of truth and the moment to lie
And the moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight,
To fight, to fight, to fight
To the right to the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth,
It's a brave new world from the last to the first
To the right, to the left,
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It's a brave new world, it's a brave new world
A warning to the prophet, the liar, the honest
This is war
To the leader, the pariah, the victor, the messiah
This is war
It's the moment of truth and the moment to lie
And the moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight,
To fight, to fight, to fight
To the right, to the left,
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth,
It's a brave new world from the last to the first
To the right, to the left,
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It's a brave new world, it's a brave new world, it's a brave new world
I do believe in the light, raise your hands up to the sky
The fight is done, the war is won, lift your hands towards the sun
Towards the sun, (it's the moment of truth and the moment to lie
It's the moment to live and the moment to die, the moment to fight)
Towards the sun,
Towards the sun, (it's the moment of truth and the moment to lie
It's the moment to live and the moment to die, the moment to fight)
The war is won (to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight)
To the right, to the left,
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth,
It's a brave new world from the last to the first
To the right, to the left,
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It's a brave new world, it's a brave new world, it's a brave new world
A brave new world
The war is won
The war is won
A brave new world

Similar theme to Carnifex's. A song about how war affects everyone, and is devastating, but with the optimistic note of whatever the war, it will end. During war, all that one worries about is fighting, and they will continue to do that until they die or the war ends. Ingrained in the song is a series of contradictions that highlight the ironies of war, such as fighting for glory while fighting to survive, fighting to gain something by destroying, fighting to gain something at the risk of losing everything.

My other favorite song by 30 Seconds to Mars, and one of my alltime favorites:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44NYFvhXmW8

(Do you believe?) Walk on water
Can you even see what you're fighting for?
Bloodlust and a holy war
Listen up, hear the patriots shout:
"Times are changing"
In the end, the choice was clear
Take a shot in the face of fear
Fist up in the fiery light
Times are changing
Do you believe that you can walk on water?
Do you believe that you can win this fight tonight?
(Do you believe?)
Look at the sky, see a dying star
White lies, it's a man on fire
Making love with the devil hurts
Times are changing
A thin line, the whole truth
The far right, the left view
Breaking all those promises made
Times are changing
Do you believe that you can walk on water?
D you believe that you can win this fight tonight?
Do you believe that you can walk on water?
Do you believe that you can win this fight tonight?
Do you believe?
Do you believe?
Do you believe? Walk on water
Do you believe? Walk on water
Do you believe? Walk on water
Do you believe? Walk on water
Do you believe that you can walk on water?
Do you believe that you can win this fight tonight?
(Do you believe? Walk on water)
Do you believe that you can walk on water?
(Do you believe? Walk on water)
Do you believe that you can win this fight tonight?
Do you believe? Walk on water
Do you believe? Walk on water

Themes: Hope.

Eminem's "Walk on Water" is also very good. Different, but good, especially lyrics wise.

- Many of Bob Dylan's songs are beautifully written, but this one has always stood out to me more than the others.
How many roads must a man walk down

Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, 'n' how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

Yes, 'n' how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

I think this track doez a good job of seting the feel for the vhole Clone Wars serie. Love it!

Tragic yes, but thats basicly vhat the whole Clone Wars wer. A tragedy manipulated.

Literally the entirety of Shadows Have Shadows by Eyedea. Each line is an absolute gem. You get things such as "I was born a thorn away from the rotten petals. A forgotten rebel wrapped in the absence of Heaven's heavy hands to develop an evident level of benevolence, so it's probably better I sold my soul to the Devil".

On a more universal note, it has lines such as "I leap with golden hope to rip the leash that holds my focus, but the fact remains the same, I'm still bound by chains. It doesn't matter if your chain is 10 feet or 100 feet. The fact remains the same, you're still bound by chains."

Seriously, if you haven't heard the song, fix that. Dude wrote it at 19 as well. Phenomenal. It's one of the many reasons that I say that, if he were still alive, he would undoubtedly be the greatest MC the world has ever known.

I love this one. It's a heartbreaking but mature song about saying goodbye to someone you once loved.

Tears they will cry, hallelujahs will ring
Sparks they will fly, but you won't feel a thing
This too shall pass, let your guard down a while
Put on your wedding dress and let's go out in style
Lift up your eyes, dance this last dance
And we'll say goodbye, goodbye

Take all those promises we couldn't keep
Kiss them sweetly and sing them to sleep
Blow out these candles but please do not weep
I'll see you after a while

Suns they will set, lovers they still will sigh
All of these daydreams will wave you goodbye
Hold out your hand, take whatever you please
How can you love when you're down on your knees?
Burn this disguise, wipe those blue eyes
And we'll say goodbye, goodbye

Take all those innocent plans that you made
Those bittersweet days in that lonesome parade
Nothing you spoke here was ever betrayed
I'll see you after a while

Call off the search for that perfect reveal
Those Hollywood moments that felt so surreal
I know that you kept up your side of the deal
But I couldn't salute so I learned how to kneel
But please don't forget we were once just as real

And I'll see you after a while.

Literally anything Sybreed has ever created, Ben Nominet is an amazing lyricist and the world needs more Existential Metal. Shadow Domain is just his latest project

Some people want to keep the world in restraints
Some people will screw anybody to prevail
You can abide and feel debased in the end
You can resist and tell them to get off your back

You shut your mouth so you don't have to take sides
There's nothing left for trying to please everyone
You did engage in their low place shadow play
You feel the heat of what is burning deep inside

Just filth and scum!

I will give all I have
'Till I burn from inside
In a nova consuming my life
And this fire I have made
Ate through my flesh and heart
I have lived my own demise

They all compromise
Believe their common lies
Subjects that fell in line
Now I realize we have short precious time
Distraction won't avert decline

A constant rail deriding those who fail to be true to themselves all for the sake of 'security' and a denial to be oneself, giving everything to what makes you yourself as you only have this existence to do so in. A sustained individualized revolution.

That's life
That's what all people say
You're ridin' high in April
Shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June

That's life
And as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks
Stompin' on a dream
But I don't let it get me down
'Cause this fine old world, it keeps spinnin' 'round
I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate
A poet, a pawn, and a king

I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get back in the race

Kinda an interesting take on the old saying of "that life's" and the fight one might have to deal with it.
