The Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty is the Feudal Monarchy with Oligarchical attributes that rules over the Ishanna System located in the Commenor Systems Alliance. Founded by Amelia Sorenn-Syrush - whom claimed the relatively untouched Ishanna System - as a means to provide the Sanguinius Vampirika species with their own safe haven in the Galaxy.
..:: Government and Politics ::..
Officially a Feudal Monarchy, in which the Queen Mother and the Landsmeet share control over internal political manners - however - in reality the Queen Mother remains the sole and final arbiter in many matters.
The Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty is ruled over by the Queen Mother - though she does not rule with absolute power. The Seneschal serves as the Head of Government, overseeing the day to day operations of the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty. Likewise, the Lord Marshal serves as the Commander-in-Chief, overseeing military operations and build up as needed.
Authoritarian in its rulership - and very much as seen in Palpatine's Galactic Empire - the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty maintains a tight control on personal freedoms such as freedom of speech, with dissidents being harshly punished. This is to ensure that the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty is unified and not prone to fracturing due to differing viewpoints. However, its structure is organized to be more decentralized - even for a Feudal Monarchy - in which individuals that hold titles for Landgraviates, Margraviates, and Manors exercise absolute control over their territory and are beholden only to the Queen Mother.

Executive Branch

Consisting of the Elder Council - a group of advisers overseen by the Seneschal and charged with running the day-to-day activities of the Dynasty and enacting the will of the Queen Mother - it is formed by the most powerful Landgraviates and never exceeds more than five individuals (the four most powerful Landgraviates and the Seneschal).

Legislative Branch

Where as other Stellar Governments would maintain some form of Senate or other such body, the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty has organized the land holders - specifically those that hold Landgraviates, Margraviates, Manors, and those High Freemen that hold land though are not a Lord or Lady of the Manor - into a Legislative Body that bridges and oversees many of the same functions of a Senatorial body. While the Queen Mother has the final arbitration in many situations, the Landsmeet (as the Legislative Branch is called) maintains a semblance of checks and balances to ensure that the presiding Queen Mother does not become an Absolute Monarch. One such check is in that times of conflict, the Queen Mother must address the Landsmeet and argue the reasoning as to why an individual land holder should call up their Feudal Levies.

Judicial Branch

Unlike other governments which have an established Judicial system of courts and judges, the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty has established the Right of Jurisdiction. This means that all legal manners - that are not directly a result of Royal Decree - are handled specifically by those individuals that hold the titles of a Landgraviate, Margraviate, or Manor. In these situations, the specific individual appoints a Sheriff to oversee legal and judicial manners on their lands.

Nobility
The Aristocracy is separated into multiple titles and sections - with some titles being held higher than others - throughout the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty. The most well known titles are those of Landgrave (or Landgravine) whom are the holders of a Landgraviate. The Margrave, a minor noble title that holds no land; however they are charged with the operation and command of strategic fortresses within the territory held by the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty. The Lord (or Lady) of the Manor - the lowest nobility - they are those individuals whom hold a Manor and directly pledge their loyalty to a specific Landgraviate.

Crafthouses

A special case within the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty - Crafthouses - hold a place that is directly below the Nobility, however they are above those that are considered to be commoners. These institutions usually represent specialist houses and families - or in some cases - a Corporation that has been granted Crafthouse status. They are capable of operating within and of the Landgraviates or other noble parcels throughout the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty - with the heads of a Crafthouse answering directly to the Queen Mother herself.

High Freemen

To be known as such an individual must be one of two specialized classes of commoner. Either one must be a Freeholder - a non-noble landowner; or a Soldier - of either a Feudal Levy or of the Royal Retinue. They are often afforded special treatment in some instances or otherwise treated with higher prestige and respect than others.

Low Freemen

This class of Commoner is quite literally labelled as 'Everyone Else'. If an individual doesnt fall within the ranks and titles above, they are seen as a Low Freemen. These generally tend to be your everyday working class individual, from the simple cook to the government clerk.
..:: Society and Culture - Serfdom ::..

The difference - that between Slaver and Serfdom - is in that which owns the individual. While slavery is illegal in the Commenor Systems Alliance, there is a form still active in the Ishanna System. Serfdom - the practic in which an individual is owned by an estate or land - though not owned by an individual, is widely practiced within the Ishanna system.

Those individuals who make up the largest population of Serfs are prisoners and criminal - usually non-violent offenders, gamblers, and debtors - with a small population of individuals that sign contracts to serve in a specific allotment of years. Additional laws - both local, and by royal decree - protect thise class of individual from abuse by those that hold the titles of the land. Likewise, a Serf may never be bought or sold - though those with contracts may have their contracts bought and sold; with time serve being honored by both sides.
..:: Society and Culture - Laws ::..

A series of codified declarations and decrees that otherwise ensure the continued civility and order of the Dynasty within the Ishanna System - whilst also being completely separate from the laws of the Commenor Systems Alliance - however; also incorporating and ensuring that those Laws of the Commenor Systems Alliance are upheld as well.

The Code of Laws are separated into to subsections, both with their own degrees of severity. For the most part, Law and Order - and the execution thereof - is left to a local level through a system known as 'The Right of Jurisdiction'. Where as any overarching or otherwise higher laws are entitled as 'Royal Decrees' which supersede local laws.

Royal Decrees

A Royal Decree is just that - a Decree handed down by the Queen Mother - whose weight is such that it automatically supersede and overwrites any lower law currently implemented. While these Decrees are often held in reserve, only being handed out to ensure that local laws do not conflict with the laws of the Commenor Systems Alliance, they are still adhered to and respected. However there are some instances in which the Charter of the Commenor Systems Alliance would otherwise interfere with the cultural aspects of the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty - in these cases - the Royal Decree is taken to be held above such a law.

In Example - Whilst the Commenor Systems Alliance has declared Slavery as being illegal, the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty practices Serfdom and thus by Royal Decree this system shall remain in place in perpetuity.

The Right of Jurisdiction

The Local Laws - or 'Right of Jurisdiction' - are those laws that are handed down specifically by the Landgrave (or Landgravine) of one of the four Landgraviate of the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty.

These laws are thus untouched by the Queen Mother unless such a law would otherwise conflict with a previously established Royal Decree or law of the Commenor Systems Alliance.

As such - with each Landgraviate being separate and independent entities and thus beheld by various different views based upon the individual holding the title - they are as varied as any other system known to the Galaxy. In this course, they are thus left to the whims and decisions of those holding the titles - nor can there be given a definitive description of definition of the legality or illegality of an activity as such definitions change from one Landgraviate to another.

..:: Military - Feudal Levies ::..

Where as other Stellar Governments fund and maintain a standing military and navy; it is not so when it comes to the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty. Rather those forces that are called upon during times of need are locally sourced, often starting at the lowest nobility of the Lord / Lady of the Manor that provide a small group of individuals - which are equipped at the cost of the Lord / Lady of the Manor - that come to form the backbone of the military forces fielded by the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty. Likewise, these smaller units are brought together into larger units which are further supplemented by those forces provided by the holders of the Landgraviates.

As before - even those forces that are mustered by the Landgraviates - are fully equipped at the cost of the holder of the title. While those forces often provided by the lower nobility directly beneath the Landgraviates are specialized units, those fielded by the Landgraviates are generally more closely resembling of a proper armed military force. These forces often include Warships and Transports as well as ground forces.

However when it comes to the Margraves - which in themselves are a special case - they are not expected to provide a Levy to be called upon. Rather those forces that their field are beholden directly to the fortress or space station that they are equipped and trained to defend - with those forces remaining in that fortress or space station. Thus these are the only forces that can be considered to be a standing military force within the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty.

..:: Military - Royal Retinue ::..

While the argument could be made that the Royal Retinue is the de facto standing military of the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty - in truth it acts more like a personal Royal Guard as seen in many other Monarchical governments across the galaxy. The sole and singular charge of the Royal Retinue is the protection of the Royal House of Sorenn-Syrush and its immediate family members or those directly under the protection of the Queen Mother. Just as the Feudal Levies are paid for and equipped at the cost of the nobility - likewise are the Royal Retinue - whom are equipped out of pocket by the Sorenn-Syrush Family.

This Royal Retinue also includes warships and transports as well - likewise additional specialized units are also fielded to fulfill specific roles and needs as they arise.

Its very likely that Clan Skirata could potentially be given a Margraviate within the Sorenn-Syrush Dynasty... essentially the Skirata would hold the title as a protector of an important fortress or similarly important Space Station. - [member="Dorn Skirata"]
