Strengths
  • Agile - Its primary focus in terms of defense and protecting itself against aggressors lies within the vessel's agile performance. Focused on speed and maneuverability, it is a force to be reckoned with in the hands of a skillful pilot - though it falls back on its heavy shielding and armor when a situation demands.
  • Astromech Slots - A unique feature not often seen on larger vessels, the Songbird Luxury Yacht has a series of astromech slots, allowing for the astromech to be locked in place and secured - often a need when the vessel is rapidly moving through all three axes in space to prevent the astromech from being thrown across the vessel or dislodged from its position.
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - A continued feature in Von Sorenn Industries' vessels, this armor component maintains an ablative current that courses through the plating of the vessel. This current assists in reducing damage and ensuring the longevity of the vessel's hull - resulting in longer periods of time between replacement of armor plates or the hull of the vessel.
  • GalaxyGuard Mk VII - This system is commonplace in vessels produced by Von Sorenn Industries, providing additional endurance and range to the vessel's deflector shields and increasing the shield's protective capabilities.
  • Droid Storage Compartments - Located throughout the vessel are multiple compartments that can be utilized to store and charge a number of droids - though the size of the droid may cause these storage compartments to fill up more rapidly.
  • Electronic Countermeasure Suites - The Songbird II Yacht line comes equipped with two powerful ECM Suites - one of which was present on the Death Star. These ECM Suites assist in scrambling sensors, scanners, and similar systems used to detect vessels or achieve a lock-on of the vessel in the case of homing based weaponry.
  • Heavily Protected - Though its primary focus is on the vessel's speed, it is still heavily protected with a number of deflector shield generators and thick armor plating, allowing the vessel to take punishment while attempting to flee into Hyperspace or if its engines become damaged.
  • Modularity - Unlike other vessels produced by Von Sorenn Industries, the Songbird II is capable of being heavily modified with additional third-party equipment or aftermarket features, allowing for each vessel to be as unique or eccentric as its owner.

Weaknesses
  • Unarmed - The stock Songbird II Yacht does not come equipped with any kind of offensive weaponry, relying heavily on its speed, maneuverability, shielding, and armor.
  • Solar Sails - A unique feature not often seen on vessels of this size are the large Solar Sails that can be deployed via the front of the vessel, allowing for a more 'pleasurable' cruise among the stars. However, these large sails take time to deploy and retract, rendering the vessel highly vulnerable during this time.
  • Exposed Bridge - Sitting at the top of the vessel just above the observation deck, the bridge is much more vulnerable than other systems within the vessel itself. This makes it an easy target to focus upon, and if removed, results in the vessel become uncontrollable.
  • Aft Hanger Bay - While the vessel is capable of supporting a squadron of support craft, the location of its hanger - resting at the rear between the vessel's engines, requires that utilization of tractor beam projectors in order to launch or retrieve these vessels.
  • Retractable Landing Gears - Capable of landing in the atmosphere, the vessel is equipped with a series of retractable landing gears - this system presents its own problems which can render the vessel incapable of landing - in those instances in which the landing gear is damaged, either prohibiting it from deploying or retracting into the vessel.
  • Limited Onboard Security - With the primary focus of the vessel keeping individuals out through the use of its agility and other defensive measures, it's internal security is apparently lacking. Consisting of only a few security droids - and any weaponry the crew or passengers may be carrying - once a determined group boards the vessel, they are highly likely to be successful in taking the vessel.
  • Semi-Open Floorplan - Though not an outwardly apparent weakness, a vast majority of the vessel maintains an open floor plan - excluding the staterooms, crew quarters, and similar rooms that can be sealed or locked to ensure privacy.
  • Minimum Crew Compliment - While the vessel is capable of being piloted with a minimum crew consisting of a pilot and three astromech droids, this is highly discouraged, as a number of systems become difficult to maintain or otherwise properly control without the proper crew compliment or other means to oversee these systems. This results in a marked drop in the efficiency and capabilities of the vessel.

Description
Larger in size than the vessel that inspired its creation, the Songbird II-class Personal Luxury Yacht is a vessel that is intended to serve as an individual's point of envy, to flaunt their wealth while also keeping them protected from those that would, likewise, in turn, seek to free their wealth from them. Its larger size permits a number of additional amenities not seen on the unique Songbird Yacht - including additional State Rooms to entertain guests and diplomats, an Observation Deck for those inclined to enjoy watching the stars during their journies, as well as additional Lounges, Kitchens, and features that support a crew and passengers in kind. However, it should be noted, that unlike its predecessor, the Songbird II was designed and produced lacking any form of offensive weaponry - rather it focuses predominately on its agility, utilizing its speed and maneuverability to outrun those vessels that are attacking it rather than standing and fighting. In those instances in which it cannot outrun a determined opposition, it falls back to rely more heavily upon its multiple shield generators, reinforced armor platting, and anti-missile capabilities - while also boasting an impressive Electronic Countermeasure Array for additional protective capabilities.

Equipped with the means to deploy a Solar Sail - though highly suggested that this is only utilized in well-protected systems or while under escort - it truly earns the title of 'Pleasure Yacht', and makes the experience of a short journey all the more enjoyable, even more so when one finds themselves on the observation deck. The primary drawback of this feature though is the time in which it takes to deploy or retract the Solar Sail - meaning that in those instances when the vessel comes under fire, it is highly vulnerable and incapable of fleeing until its sail is fully stored away. Furthermore, the bridge of the vessel sits high up on the design, resting just above the observation deck - which places it in a rather precarious position - thus making for a more tantalizing target. Were the bridge to be lost - either take in some manner or destroyed - the rest of the vessel would be rendered immobile and incapable of further operation.

While it is capable of supporting a squadron of support craft - such as shuttles and other similarly unarmed vessels - the location of its hanger is both unique and suicidal. The entrance to the hanger sits to the aft of the vessel, nestled between the engines and requiring that a trio of heavy tractor beam projectors are utilized to carefully guide the smaller vessels into the hanger. Were these projectors to be damaged or destroyed in any capacity, it would prevent the vessel from safely bringing on smaller support craft - as the smallest miscalculation would result in the smaller craft ramming into or entering the wake of the Songbird's engines - which could potentially result in a catastrophic event.

Like many of the vessels that have been produced by Von Sorenn Industries in more recent years, the Songbird II is equipped with multiple GalaxyGuard Mark VIIs - a feature that provides additional endurance and range to the vessel's already impressive Deflector Shield Generators - which further increases its defensive capabilities. On top of the AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component which assists in prolonging the longevity of the vessel's hull plating. Its array of Astromech Slots and additional Droid Storage Compartments ensure that the vessel has all the assistance it needs in terms of maintenance and observation of systems that the organic crew may overlook. And though it is capable of being crewed by a minimal crew - consisting of a single pilot and three astromech droids - this has its own problems, as, without a proper crew, systems would become more difficult to maintain and operate when left in the hands of a single individual; as after all, there is only so much that an R-Series droid can handle when it's not R2-D2.

All in all, the Songbird II-class elevates the original purpose and design of its predecessor, coupled with its capability of being easily modified, it is a Personal Luxury Yacht that is likely to see years of service in a number of hands across the Galaxy.
