Private Sometimes Morality is Harmful

Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure

Willow and Ivy were gifted with foresight, among other things. More often than not, people had used them and exploited them to see their futures or pasts; either to help increase their fortunes or surprise their enemies and defeat them. Only once had the twins looked into their own future.....

And what they had seen terrified them.

In the vision they had been cut apart, severed from where they were conjoined at their hip and just below their shoulder blades. Even though they didn't share any vital organs, they were still so closely connected that such separation was unbearable. Even their Force connection was nullified by some kind of means that took their abilities to read eachother's minds away. It was their first moment of ever experiencing being alone. And it was horrible! So much so that Willow had died after being placed in a different room. All that Ivy could do was beat her fists on the door over and over again until they started to bleed, scream and shout until her throat was raw, and cry so hard until she had no tears left to cry.

It was utterly terrifying. And they vowed to never look into their own future again.

Now while under Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt 's employ, they had protection from such a fate. However that didn't stop scientists from wanting to capture them for study, for a king that wanted to use theor fears against them in order to exploit them for his own empowerment, and for supposed goodhearted people wanting to 'rescue' them from what they deemed was enslavement.

Yet the twins didn't believe themselves to be slaves. They had their own massive suites with huge beds that could fit their pair comfortably. They got one free drink a day from Broka's atriums, and a small amount of credits to have others buy fabrics and dolls, games and flowers, whatever they wanted to brighten their day. They got to wander the Palaces, and sometimes the markets too, usually while under guard. Their continued loyalty and service to Broka as advisors granted them more and more freedoms as time went on. He even hinted at them gaining a small salary!

Their guards for the most part were...the strong silent type. Yet Willow and Ivy wanted something more. A new recruit certainly held promise and this time, the twins were lucky enough to get to interview him themselves! So they waited patiently on the couch inside of their suite for him to arrive. Willow ate some fresh fruit while Ivy read a story. There was no need for her to read it aloud. Instead she just used her telepathy to read Willow the story. It was a nice way to pass the time.

Vyn was no stranger to the Hutt's reputation and was pleasantly surprised when he received a job offer with the chain code of a Hutt, expecting them to either need someone turned into wall decoration or vented out of an airlock, he was shocked to hear that the Hutt was in need of a personal bodyguard for his subordinate's, having felt it was his time to move on from bespin he accepted the interview without hesitation.

once again leaving behind what he knew, however, this time it wasn't so hard, he hadn't left much besides empty memories of a small cantina and random jobs he had accepted to pass the time.

Receiving more details after he arrived he learned he was protecting two force users, a pair of siamese twins conjoined since birth, always together and not willing to be separated, Doubt had sat in his mind during the trip but he quickly banished the feeling exchanging it for enthusiasm, he was intrigued by the situation they were treated like employees instead of slaves and if it were true it would speak volumes for what he was getting into.

Having spent his younger days learning to kill force users Sith and Jedi alike, in the most ironic of events, just when he was getting desperate Vyn was being hired for the exact opposite, not like Vyn wasn't qualified for the job, he had the training and the experience, while guerilla fighting and intelligence collection were his two strong suits, he was also no stranger to VIP protection but it was always just a job in the past, now, if he passed the interview, it would be a larger part of the man's life.

Was he ready for that change?

He came with his life packed with him in just a few bags as he proceeded through the palace passing by all sorts, filled to the brim with gangsters and those who would do business with them, it was what Vyn had expected but he also couldn't shake the feeling of trust and respect throughout the place. Catching the whispers that also floated about, he focused on those of them seeming to be about his new prospecting employers, and they all seemed to be regarding what each of them would use the girls for, they were clearly a target.

Vyn had already decided that were the twins to accept him, he would protect them unconditionally, there were clearly many who desired them and their abilities, and that large of a target in this galaxy was no small issue, This job would come with its difficulties and hardships, but he was prepared.

Vyn approached the room that was predetermined for their interview, the girls personal quarters, he didn't know what to expect, were they crude gangsters like Hutt and company, or slaves being kept simply for their abilities? Guards awaited him by the door, to Vyn they seemed capable, but still nothing more than thugs protecting a trove of treasure. Pressing a button on his comlink to alert his interviewers he had arrived, he now awaited his new fate patiently.

Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy

Both were wrapped up in the story to even notice that they were being paged. Comlinks weren't common items for them. In the past they had been held by a warlord that gave them next to nothing. And before that they were looked after by a kind woman by the name of Shea. She had a comlink, but the twins were too young to be bothered with it.

"Oh! He's here!" She set the book aside and encouraged her sister to be prepared to stand up. And they did so in unison.

"Wouldn't it be wonderful if it was Bat?" Bat Rum Hilt Bat Rum Hilt was her crush and their first ever lover. The space pirate would always have a place in their hearts, and their bed to sleep in.

Ivy giggled softly. "Oh Willow, he's busy. He needs to sort out that haunted pistol of his."

"Yes, I know..." Willow sighed. "But a girl can dream."

They wrapped their arms about eachother's waists as the approached the double door. Both twins took hold of the handles and pulled the doors wide open, seeing Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure standing there.

"Hello."

"Won't you come in?"

They stepped back to let him walk in.

Vyn was making sure his hair was tied back in a presentable manner as he waited for the door, moving a stray strand off one of his horn, he then watched the doors swing open revealing the twins, unsure what to expect after seeing the girl's, but hospitality wasn't it, but it was appreciated. His emerald eyes drifted towards the first of the two to speak, and a soft Hello was all that was offered, though that was no issue.

Vyn simply bowed his head slightly reciprocating "I am Vyn Daldoure, It's a pleasure to meet the both of you. "

His head raised and he started to get a feel for the two just by how they held one another, he could tell they cared deeply for each other and had vastly different personalities, In what way Vyn could only guess at this point. The second of the two offered for him to step in so he complied.

"Pardon my intrusion."

Vyn passed the door frame only by a few steps, stopping just far enough that the door could be closed without issue. Glancing around the room he looked at the humongous bed that could easily be sprawled across and the few other items of luxury in the room before once again making eye contact with Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy watching where they proceeded from that point.

He couldn't help but wonder if the girls would ask about his past, It wouldn't surprise him, after all, they'd be putting their lives in his hands were he to get the job.

"Oh it's no intrusion."

"Yes, you were invited. So of course you're welcome."

They stepped forward to close the door and then turned towards Willow's side so that they could walk around Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure . Just the very act of getting around wasn't as easy for the twins as it was for most people. But they were used to it and only had troubles when it came to running, for the most part.

Willow gestered for him to sit down on a chair while the two retook their seats on the couch.

"You seem very nice. Have you heard much about us?"

"Yes there are bad people that want to take us away and split us!"

"Ivy shhh! Not yet...."

Vyn sat down in the chair keeping a formal posture.

"Thank you. that's very kind, and no, just some minor details I researched on my way over."

Vyn knew they could supposedly tell the future, among other abilities, and people want them for those, but he wasn't expecting the girl Ivy to say what she did, someone was trying to take them and separate the two, he couldn't imagine, even if they didn't share any organs to have that done could be comparable to losing half of his body. It was unfathomable.

"
I don't mind, the more I know about the situation, the better I can help if the two if you decide to hire me"

Staying quiet for any other questions the Twins had it was an interview after all. He was an open book, mostly, he had no issue discussing his past, but he never liked to mention Yavin if he could help it.

Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy

The twins weren't used to being known outside of Nar Shaddaa. Yet their 'popularity' was growing. Hopefully it wouldn't grow too much, for they were already getting unwanted attention.

Willow took hold of Ivy's hand, interlocking their fingers together in a show of support to her. "There are some that view us as slaves and want to take us away from Broka. They think that we need to be set free."

"But we are not slaves. Look at our suite. And we get a free drink every day at his atriums if we want. We get to wander the Palaces, we get to travel and we get a bit of credits too. Broka keeps us safe. There's nothing for us out there but danger."

"We wouldn't be able to hire anyone to protect us if we were taken from here and dropped off somewhere. People just don't understand...." There were some do-gooders out there that had tried to convince the twins that they were indeed slaves that should be rescued. But where would they go? How would they live? The bad doctors could catch them easily....

Ivy took a piece of fruit and had a bite, chewing a bit before speaking, while Willow watched Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure . "Have you been a bodyguard for others much?"

The Iridonian sat completely still as the girls spoke, his attention span unbreakable, Willow mentioned that people saw the girls as slaves, and had try and remove them from the situation, honestly he wasn't quite sure what to call this himself

Ivy then pointed out the room and the benefits they have, and by Vyn's definition, they weren't slaves if they were being paid a wage and clearly didn't mind staying amongst the Hutt's.

Vyn's raspy voice cut across the soothing tune coming from the girls "Even if some believe you to be slaves, you're quite correct in saying that isn't the case, you're paid for your services and by that definition, you're employed. However I couldn't call it freedom either, prison perhaps, but it's only prison if you believe it to be, and that's what matters" Turning his head back to Willow

"Well no matter the case, the fact of the matter is that you're both safe and happy under the Hutt's care and anyone who would try and force you away from that safety and happiness would be in the wrong."

Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy were both attentive while one ate the other watched him like a hawk, Ivy's question was a hard one to answer, Vyn had protected people who needed it, but never had he been a full-time bodyguard by definition.

"While serving in the New Imperial Army I had protected multiple VIP's over the course of my service, but just in the way of transports and extractions from planets, never anything longer than a two-day time span."

"Prison?" Willow and Ivy looked at one another. It was worse before they were in Broka's care. They were held in a tiny room with a tiny bed, barely fed and forced to use their abilities for paying guests. They were exploited and given harsh treatment. That was more like a prison than anything that they were living through now.

However Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure didn't seem to be the type to act beyond what he was hired for, which was good.

They listened to him relay his past experiences. To hear that those experiences involved military were very beneficial. It meant that he was up to the task. "And what about Force users? Do you have experience fighting them?" They weren't thinking of themselves of course, but of those that would want to hurt them.

Willow seemed to question his belief, but it looked like they understood what he meant or at least had an inkling of the idea, any situation is acceptable as long as its also tolerable. Vyn was too self-serving to try and break the girls free or truly convince them otherwise, after all, as long as they were with the Hutt he could be paid, and Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy seemed happy, why try and change the situation.

Vyn looked concerned when Ivy mentioned fighting force users, he had more experience than any non-force-sensitive should, Was that really what he was signing up for, it was always a hassle especially when it came to the telekinetic side of the force, lightsabers were no issue His Cortosis VIbroblade could make sure of that

Then with an almost humble tone "I've killed two Sith Lords and the rogue Jedi who planned to join them, In fact, I was trained for the task. Although I would have no issue holding out or protecting you against a Force user, if you're wanting to know if I could kill one without Mandalorian armor or a team who knows what they're doing that would be a much harder task."

The twins nodded, not in unison, but in the typical matter that two people sitting next to eachother would. Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure seemed perfect for them. He was kind, experienced and respectful for their way of life. It wasn't for everyone, they knew. But it was the best that they had ever had.

Getting to their feet, they both smiled brightly. "Well we both agree that you're a great choice! However there's one more thing that you have to go through in order to be hired, and that is to see our boss Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt ."

"Oh yes, he would be paying you and surely he'd want to see you himself, given that you'll be watching over us. There are certain parts of the palaces that we aren't allowed to visit. And of course our time outside of the Palaces are limited. It's for our protection of course. But these Palaces are huge and there's plenty to do!" It wasn't often that the twins made a friend and even though this was strictly a business deal, they would surely be getting to know one another.

"Come, we'll take you to Broka. And you can leave your bags here. They'll be safe."

He was genuinely surprised when they began to seem like they liked him as a candidate, Vyn followed them standing almost in unison with the girls as he listened to what they were saying, happy Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy were considering, he had almost forgotten who was to actually be his employer, the Hutt.

Nodding at the mention of the man who could end his life, If he were to ever fail in protecting either of them, Vyn would probably find himself in the stomach of something much larger than himself.

"You'd be correct, I would very much enjoy a meeting with him. Well if my soon to be home is as big as you claim then ill just need a tour guide" Vyn gave off a genuine smile, but it was rather weak and seemed to truly lack any happiness

"Right, my bags" He looked down at the few duffle bags he had, inside there was clothing, what little credits he had left, a bandolier, a holster, his blaster and the attachments for it, and about a quarter-pound worth of thermal detonators he'd rather not mention to anyone. Grabbing his Vibro blade off the bag strap and hooked it to his belt, it was the one thing he absolutely refused to go anywhere without.

"Well then ladies, off we go?"

Broka sat in the throne room enjoying the luxury he possessed. His Hutt Republic was coming together, and slowly growing too. All his hard work to this point is now paying off, and it is a matter of further setting up his grand vision. He was not done yet, just one step closer. He still was at his palace on Nar-Shaddaa with all of his primary courtiers after which allowed him to be so busy. As he sat in the throne room, the two girls walked in. Broka slurped up a live eel, and spoke (in Huttese), "<I did not summon you here girls. What is it you want? You two look like you want to say something.>"

He did not see anyone else new in the room, just them. The others just seemed to blend in as the usual crowd to the colossal Hutt. While waiting, he called a servant over, which gave him a chalice filled with wine which he drank somewhat savoringly.

Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure

Willow and Ivy smiled, holding eachother arm in arm as Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure gathered what he felt was needed.

"This way."

They led him to the throne room where Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt presided. As always he was eating, and as they approached they could feel his annoyance. Still they curtsied. "Forgive us for the interruption, Your Grace, but we had deemed it neccessary for us to have another bodyguard."

"There are many that want to take us away from you as word of our existance spreads."

"This is Vyn, Your Grace. We find him suitable and hope you do too." Willow gestured towards their new prospect.

Vyn walked in after Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy , smoke and alcohol filled his nostrils. He saw them curtsy and explain their reason for being there. He had never met a Hutt and Huttese was almost entirely foreign except for catching a few things here and there, mostly the mood of said situation, he was clearly not expecting a visit.

When Willow mentioned him, he gave a slight bow with his upper torso, not fully dipping his head tough.

"It is truly an honor to meet someone of such stature, Your Grace. "

Vyn tiled upwards clasping his hands behind his back and looking the Hutt in the eyes waiting for a response, it felt like he was asking for someone's hand in marriage, but in this case, the stakes were much higher, he was asking to protect someone else's treasure with money as compensation.

As much as the girls had taken to his capabilities or wanted to hire him, it wasn't up to them, and Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt may outright refuse the Iridonian.

Broka sat back after he took another sip. He has heard the reports of stranger types of people than what normally would walk through his doors on Hutta. Nar-Shaddaa was far more secluded being a hovering palace in the skyline. A lot easier to track exactly who walked through his doors. It was that ancient house on Hutta that people could just be blurs while walking in and out of the door. He definitely had to have at least some more guards if not actual security equipment there. Nonetheless, there was a seemingly capable person of protecting his pair of security soothsayers.

"<This one seems to have promise. Already knows how to show respect. What exactly is this one capable of? What makes him worthy of protecting my courtiers over some other mercenary?>"

The look on his face showed he did not understand much on Huttese. Might turn out to be a good thing for that. However, he talked to the twins who wanted this one's presence for protection at all times. Broka understood that. Now that people might try to take them away from his services, he must protect them more. Those kinds of people already have penetrated his palaces. Now it is a matter of time until one of them becomes more bold in their false efforts of morality.

The twins didn't understand Huttese either, but their gifts in telepathy helped them to understand the underlaying thoughts of Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt , as well as many other alien species that didn't speak basic. It was near impossible when it came to droids, however. But thankfully most droids spoke in basic.

"He knows how to deal with Force users, Your Grace, which would be beneficial as there are some that have taken an interest in us."

"And some that will in the future. The risk would be far less with Vyn watching over us, Your Grace. And then we can continue our work for you." Willow gave a brief glance to Vyn Daldoure Vyn Daldoure who seemed to at least please Broka with his manners. It wasn't every day that someone with good manners arrived here. Most either had chips on their shoulders, or inflated egos. None of which the twins ever found appealing.

He could tell the Hutt was interested in some way or another, whether it was going to bode well or not was still undecided. He could hear questions In the sentences but didn't have a clue to what he was saying, not until Willow & Ivy Willow & Ivy responded.

Vyn's attention didn't break away from Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt when Ivy mentioned his skill set, he could deduct what Broka had asked, Why this person, and to be honest, that was a fair question. Ivy had also mentioned that force users had already made moves against them, which was concerning he knew that they were a target but to this extent, they had asked but he was under the impression it was hypothetical, clearly not.

"Apologize for my interruption, but if you're asking about who I am then I'll cut to the chase, I was raised in the New Empire on Iridonia and served as... served in the army. I was also brought up from my childhood for that exact job, my family ha- had a long history of training elite warriors. My skills are far and many in-between, and yes as the twins said, I do have experience against force users"

He was clearly leaving some details out, but they seemed to pale in comparison to his hinted skill sets.
