There had yet to be any real ground covered between Octavia and her betrothed, Daeryn. The pair of them had yet to start walking towards one another, there had been no give - from either of them, Tavi was equally as guilty, though she was much less cold about it - and yet there had also been no relinquishing from either family. Naturally the Bardots would not back out of this arrangement, and who could blame them? Marrying their daughter off to the royal family was ideal. And for the Neomas? Well, Octavia was a good, level headed girl, and there was hope that she could tame Daeryn's wild nature. So neither family gave in and let the pair go about their own way. They were stuck in this arrangement, and fighting it wasn't helping matters.

So Octavia had decided to extend a truce. Daeryn did not have to love her, she did not expect that from him, especially considering the circumstances of their impending marriage. But the pair of them did need to be able to respect each other, to depend on one another for whatever would come their way, and to even possibly be able to get along. It wasn't asking all that much, from either of them, and at this point Tavi had put that at the forefront of her mind and set these reasonable things as goals. She may never have a loving, nurturing marriage, but at least she could grow to have a companion she could lean on.

She had sent word to Daeryn, informing him that she would like to meet up in less suffocating circumstances. Something casual, something away from the ever watching eyes of both of their families, and something fun to boot. Naboo had plenty of little places for such occasions if you knew where to look, and with siblings like Tavi had? She knew exactly where to look. The building she had asked her husband-to-be to meet her at was plain as day on the outside. It blended in with the surrounding buildings, and it was quiet to boot. There were only a few people loitering on the outside, probably also waiting for others to arrive and join them.

Inside however, was a decently populated club. The middle of this club had it's own places to dance, where the music was loud and thumped hard enough to be felt in a person's bones. The outer edges of the club however were dampened, making the music less deafening for socializing. Drinks and food both were served within, and it was simply a place to go at the end of the day to unwind. Certainly not the sort of place one would picture Octavia's sweet face among the crowd, but here she was. Stood waiting for her betrothed, and honestly wondering if she would be stood up and therefore kept waiting all night, considering the way their not-relationship had gone thus far...

It was almost impossible.

Coming to terms with the whole arrangement was something Daer struggled desperately with. It was painfully clear that his 'rentals were trying to curb his lifestyle.

Having a rockstar for a son was embarrassing, clearly.

Under normal circumstances, Daeryn would not have been adverse towards Octavia. She was pretty, after all. He was at war with himself. On one side, he blamed her as much as he blamed their parents. But on the other side, the side he tried very hard to suppress, he realised that she was being wronged as much as he was.

The situation sucked royally.

The badboy of the Galaxy was surprised, however, when he received a social invitation from his bride-to-be. And to a not-so-posh place no less.

Perhaps there was more to her than he initially thought.

At first, he wanted to ignore the invitation. It was not as if he had any shortage of people to hang with. But in the end, his curiosity got the better of him. So he went.

When he arrived, he was once again met with a gaggle of adoring fans. Giving a few million credit smiles and holographs, he then ducked inside to escape most of the stampede.

Looking around the room, he finally caught sight of Octavia. Weaving his way through the crowd, he finally reached her.
"Interesting choice of venue." he told her as he walked up.

It had been long enough, that Octavia had truly thought she had been stood up, and she did not find herself at all surprised over the matter. Frustrated? Most certainly, and who could blame her? Here she was, trying to make this inevitable thing between her and Daeryn as painless as possible, and he couldn't even be bothered to show up.

Or, so she had thought...

She heard the squealing gaggle of girls before she even caught sight of her husband-to-be, and Tavi couldn't help but to roll her eyes. Honestly, she would never understand the act of throwing yourself at someone, famous or otherwise. What did that say about you as a person? Now, that's not to say that Daeryn didn't deserve the attention; he was good at what he did, including making his fans swoon. And admittedly, there was another plus side to it all. He would never be able to sneak up on her, not with the squealing, fawning fanbase.

Still, Tavi had not sought him out, she waited until he came to her, and when he commented on her choice of venue? She shrugged a shoulder. "I thought maybe a change of scenery would do us both some good." A change as in for the pair of them, considering that up until this point they were always either with family, or at some lavish, public affair. No, tonight this was meant to be more raw. No family or ceremonies to use as buffers. Just the two of them, in this place.

Though it's not as if she didn't understand what it was Daeryn was getting at. Most people took one look at Octavia and saw nothing but the calm, dainty exterior. Bookworm, artist, soft spoken, calm...and they were right. But Tavi had an image to maintain at home. She was the only one of her siblings who had not fallen off the family wagon, and it was up to her to uphold everything that should have been on her oldest brother's shoulders. However, beneath all of that? She was a Bardot...and she had a wild streak a mile wide, she just never got to embrace it - ever.

"Think you can elude the rabid fanbase long enough to get drinks with me?" Was that...did she just tease him? The very slight smirk on her lips indicated that she had indeed, and without waiting for him to answer, Octavia turned from him and headed deeper into the establishment towards one of the set up bars.

A smirk spread over the one corner of his mouth.

Did she just tease him? The similar smirk on her face told him that indeed she did. This evening was turning into quite the surprise to the man that had usually kept her at an icy distance. This was a very different Octavia that stood in front of him tonight. So a lofted brow accompanied his smirk - not in arrogance, but surprise.

He watched her walk away for a second, chewing the inside of his cheek. He then glanced back at the door where some girls were trying very hard to clamber over the bouncers that were guarding the door. Octavia was right - they really were rabid.

A chuckle escaped his lips before he could stop it.

Turning, he followed his betrothed to the bar. Sliding up next her, he nodded at the bartender.
"Spicebrew, if you please." he ordered. He then looked over at Octavia. "Seeing as you are the one that suggested a drink, what will you be having?" he asked her. His tone wasn't exactly warm, but it was warmer than the one he usually resorts to when speaking to her.

As he waited for his drink, he turned and looked at the crowd. He couldn't stop his mind from wondering if Rowena was also somewhere in here. She liked places like this. That thought, in turn, led him to wonder how she would have reacted towards Octavia.

This was all a dumpsterfire waiting to happen.

She had noted the surprise on his face, and it was understandable. Up until this point, the pair of them had never been just the pair of them. It had always been sanctioned in some way or another, and so this? Well, Octavia did not have to be the upstanding child of the Bardot family. At the moment, no one was watching them, no one that mattered anyway - plenty of people were watching after all, for obvious reasons considering Daeryn was there.

But, Tavi had not paused, and while she had glanced over her shoulder just the one time to look at him, she did not stop and wait for him or to see if he would follow. Either he would, or he would not, and either way it went his next move would speak volumes for what was ahead of them both.

And he followed, stepping up beside her even at the bar. Seems that perhaps there was hope yet that this thing they were stuck in could at least be tolerable. Not ideal, for either of them, but tolerable. Octavia leaned against the bar, both arms against it though they were bent at the elbow to help support her weight and not be laid out all the way across the bar. "Spicebrew," she mused, turning her head to look at him with that still teasing expression on her face. "You're going to burn off all of your taste buds with that rot." she added, and a smirk even lifted one corner of her mouth before her attention shifted to the waiting bartended.

"Rummy Tonic, please." she requested, and then her body uprighted so that she could at least half turn herself to face her fiancé. His attention had drifted out towards the crowd and for a moment she glanced that way too and way hit with similar (though she didn't know it) thoughts of her own. Were her friends out there somewhere? She hadn't even considered that fact when she had made the decision to come here...And she hadn't even spoken to the guy who had been more or less in Daeryn's shoes since she had, had to tell the poor guy about Daeryn and the arrangement she couldn't get out of.

That would be a bad encounter if it ever happened, and she quickly pulled her thoughts away from the thoughts. "So, aside from touring, what else do you like to do, Daeryn?" hey if they were going to be married, she needed to know things about him.

Octavia's words dragged Daer out of his own thoughts.

Looking down at her with a still somewhat blank expression, he tried to figure out what she was getting at. But in her face was nothing but sincerity. That was something of a foreign concept for the rockstar. How many people wanted to know the answer to that question? He had lost count of all the reporters and fans asking him that. He had gotten so good at hiding his personal life, that it felt odd to stand here and being asked that question sincerely.

He took a deep breath. He might as well tell her. They were to be married, after all.
"Whenever I have a few minutes to myself, I actually enjoy drawing and writing holocomics." he finally answered. "It's a nice escape from everything." The words were out before he could stop himself. Dangit!

Daer cleared his throat before taking a big gulp of spicebrew to hide his discomfort at revealing that little piece of himself. The Galaxy wanted to know so much about him and his band that he tried to cling to the little privacy he had left. He did not have much left as it was.

He finally turned to face her again.
"And you? What do you do when the rest of the galaxy doesn't control your life?" he asked her, trying to divert attention away from himself. He leaned on the counter with one elbow, the other hand holding his drink as he looked down at his forced fiancée. He had to admit that in the end, it was getting slightly more bearable. Not that he would easily admit it.

He was so hard to read...and that was most likely due to being well practiced at deflection as well as guarded. Both of which Octavia could understand, considering his profession. Still, her head tipped a bit to the side and she patiently watched him as she waited to see whether he would actually answer her or not. And when he did respond to her? Both of her brows lofted and she looked genuinely surprised. "You like to draw?" that was not something she had expected, and there was no teasing or judgement on her face over it. She was both honestly surprised and rather suddenly deeply pleased by this answer.

Strange...

The shock slowly melted from her expression and into a smile instead, a still genuine expression no less. Which again was strange, considering how he had treated her up until this very point. See? A change of scenery had already done them a world of good in just behavior. "Well," she paused just long enough to take up her drink when it was set beside her and thanked the bartender before her focus was back on Daeryn. "I also like to draw, and paint. I do a lot of sketching when I need a nice escape from everything..."

Oh yes, she had caught that, but Tavi did not rag on him about it, or even question him about it. She too understood how the more lavish lifestyle could just be too much. It didn't matter if it was day to day life, or the life of a rock star. Too much was too much. Having your every move watched, judged, reported on. Even if the pair of them were on two different planes as far as why they were watched so closely, Tavi still knew how it felt.

"Holocomics, hm?" she sipped at her drink a moment as she seemed to mull this over for a time. "I'd like to see sometime." she informed him. Didn't demand, didn't tell him he had to show her. Just put the notion out there that she was indeed curious and interested to see the things he was clearly passionate about - even if secretly so.
