Soloing?

Does role playing ever get to a point where...like...you only want to write a story by yourself? No those are the wrong words...its more like you can't...its distracting writing with someone else..like you have this built up soloing that needs to be done and so you do like five threads all by yourself in a row? Is that a thing? I feel like right now...I couldn't properly write Romeo with another at this moment. I think mainly its because...Romeo isn't fleshed out enough. Honestly...I feel like he's done nothing interesting compared to some of you guys.

Maybe I feel like there's this untold story that needs to be told about Romeo...I don't know...I have muse...just not...three or four other writers with me muse...I guess?? Would that be like..what a Solo Campaign? I don't even know...its confusing.

I generally don't write stories alone because I'm a horrible writer when I'm not given motivation to write (and reading is my motivation), but I do sometimes go through threads alone either in the background or as a prologue to the main event of the thread. An example would be my "Polarity of Night" where I built up to the main event of the thread via Solo-posting up until there, but I've also done threads entirely alone like writing Silara's will or making a lightsaber for her daughters. These kinds of threads aren't for everyone, most certainly not for me, but they're a pretty good way to let off steam or build up a bit of history you feel your character might be lacking.

You really need to get out and interact with other characters. The more people you know, when you do something epic they will remember.

Why do you feel like your character hasn’t done anything great?

Another name for a solo thread is "fanfiction." :p

But yeah, solo threads are well-established as a thing here. Feel free, s'long as your story doesn't directly affect anyone else without their consent or allowing them to respond.

This is my problem/habit to the letter. I mostly just make characters with either very detailed bios or very short and direct ones, then leave the rest to fate and chance just as real life, letting the places they go, the people they meet and the choices they then make define and refine them overall. To me, that is just much more interesting than having a character who has a set story with a definitive outcome.

That is not to say that there aren't certain plot points and specific storylines integral to one's character concept that should be dismissed or can't be done! These are, in fact, best done alone, as only you--the writer and creator--can truly have a feel for what you want and have full control over how that happens in-character.
