Snuggly Night Light

Nokomis once again crept into her daddy's office, though this time she was there for a different reason. It was late at night and she had had a nightmare. The poor little girl was afraid of the dark, but she had noticed that Ace, her father's Ashlan, was the perfect glow in the dark snuggle buddy. So she crept into her dad's office, where he was up late working on something, and noticed Ace asleep next to the desk. She stealthily crept over to the sleeping wolf and picked it up carefully. She then began creeping back towards the door, intending to take the glowing wolf with her. [member="Vulpesen"]

Ace didn't sleep often at night, only doing so when Vulpesen was awake, such was the case as Vulpesen watched his daughter creep n, take his companion, and simply walk off. She seemed so caught up in what she was doing it didn't seem she noticed the glowing golden eyes that peered over the edge of a book. One she walked out the door, let let out a small chuckle and set the book aside before creeping quietly after her.

Nokomis carried the six inch tall glowing wolf down the hall to her bedroom and opened the door. She walked inside, not bothering to turn the light on since she carried the furry glowstick, and crawled into her bed. She hugged the wolf to her chest and snuggled against it, much happier now that she had a nice fluffy night light to keep her fear of the dark at bay. She finally noticed her father had followed her when she was all settled in bed and glanced to see if she had shut her door. [member="Vulpesen"]

He smiled a bit and stopped at her door, leaning quietly against it, his glowing golden eyes gleaming. "Is every thing alright Nokomis?" His tail flicked behind him as he saw Ace sleeping in the young girl's arms, unaware that he'd been taken from his post. No doubt, he would have a small panic attack when he awoke, but the father was loathe to take away that which put his child at ease.

"It's dark and I got scared. Ace makes a good night light," Nokomis signed at him after turning the little lamp next to her bed on. She snuggled closer to the little wolf, nuzzling it and smiling a bit. She looked so sweet curled up with her daddy's furry companion. The little girl had wanted her own wolf for awhile, but she was scared to ask for one. So instead, she had decided to steal Ace for now. [member="Vulpesen"]

He let out a small chuckle and walked over to sit at the side of her bed, looking down at Ace and speaking quietly. "I see. Well, then perhaps tomorrow I'll take you out to Myrkr and we can see if maybe one of Ace's friends will bond with you. That way you won't have to steal daddy's nightlight when you get afraid. Sound good?"

"Really? Okay! But can I sleep with Ace tonight?" Nokomis asked, snuggling against the wolf as if daring her father to say no. She pulled the blankets up to her chin, almost completely hiding Ace from view as she cuddled the six inch wolf. The little Zorren was excited that she would be getting her own soon. She fell asleep trying to decide on what she would name her new best friend. [member="Vulpesen"]

He let out a small laugh and kissed her forehead. "Of course. Now go to sleep. Its a long day tomorrow." With that he flicked his head and walked to the door, leaving it just slightly open for her as he made his way back to his own room. Making his way onto his bed, he placed his book on the night stand and simply went to sleep.

Nokomis woke up the next day to a slightly angry Ace. She pet the wolf a few times to calm it before racing down to her daddy's room, with Ace hot on her heels. She flung Vulpesen's door open and dolphin dived onto his bed. She climbed on top of him and began to shake him vigorously to wake him. It seems the little Zorren was excited about getting her very own Ashlan. [member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen's eyes widened as he was suddenly shaken. not being a morning person, he was often fairly grumpy when woken in such a way, especially when violently. Actually, he was a bit more than grumpy. Being a war veteran from a young age, no matter how well you could hide your emotions, did leave scars and instinctively his hand shot out and called to the force. There was a small skittering n his desk as his saber started to move, only stopped when Ace crashed a single idea into his mind.

SAFETY

Ace's communication stopped him instantly and Vulpesen's hazy mind cleared enough to see his daughter on top of him. Replacing the minuscule moment of panic with a smile, he shifted his action smoothly into a morning stretch. "I'm up, I'm up." Sitting up, he let out a doggish yawn, complete with a tongue that left his mouth. "Alright Ace, go have the shipped prepped, we'll get there soon. Nokomis, you need to get dressed for an adventure. Bring lots of snacks."

Nokomis nodded and raced back to her room. She pulled on a grey, sleeveless shirt, and pair of simple black pants. After she finished tying her shoes the little fox ran to the kitchen and stuffed a bunch of snack into a small backpack. Nokomis ran to where the ship was docked and waited for her father to arrive. She was excited to get her wolf, and bounced up and down on the balls of her feet. The bag of snacks threatened to spill all over the floor due to her movements. [member="Vulpesen"]

Packing his things, Vulpesen slung his travel back over his back and headed to the hanger to find Nokomis. As expected, the young zorren was waiting by the Vixen. "Alright kid, get on up and have a seat, its gonna be a long ride." He signaled for Ace to drop the ramp and started up it, his tail lightly nudging the young girl with him. "And Nokomis... if we're gonna do this there's something I need you to realize."

"What is it Daddy?" Nokomis signed after pulling herself into a seat. She opened her bag of snacks and tore into a bag of fruit flavored gummies. She kept glancing over at Ace, a little jealous that she didn't have her own Ashlan yet. She wondered if the two of them would get along when she had her own Ashlan. Did Ashlan's like to play together? Would her wolf play with her? She was really excited and curious to see the place these wolves came from. [member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen smiled a bit and sat down before letting the ship raise off the ground. "Myrkr is a dangerous place There's lots of scary animals and plants so you need to stay by me at all times and do exactly as I say. I don't want you getting hurt." Of course, Vulpesen knew the safest paths to the commune, but that didn't mean that the forest had lost any of its unpredictability.

Nokomis nodded, and proceeded to devour the first pack of fruit snacks she had brought. She didn't know how long the ride was going to be, so after a few minutes, she curled up on her chair with her tail wrapped around her. The young Zorren was still a bit tired, so she decided to take a nap on the way there. Within ten minutes she was asleep in her chair, using her tail as a pillow. [member="Vulpesen"]

Vulpesen smiled a bit, looking back at the girl as she ate then fell asleep. "Gonna be a long day." He turned back tot he view port, and console, making sure that everything was in order. Unlike the kid, he didn't have the luxury of a mid-flight nap. If he wanted them to get to Myrkr in one piece, he and Ace had to man the cockpit.

Nokomis slept peacefully for a long time before she woke up to grab a snack again. The little girl pulled out another pouch of fruit snacks and walked over to where her daddy was. She offered him another pouch of them before sitting down to pet Ace. She had nothing better to do after all and it was a long trip. The little girl was eager to get her own Ashlan. Meanwhile, Evania was bugging her own father.

"Daddy! I want an Ashlan too!!! Can I have one? Please? Please please please please please please?! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase?!" she begged, bouncing up and down next to him. It was the morning of the same day Vulpesen and Nokomis were departing for Myrkr to get a wolf too. She had no way of knowing this of course, but she was determined to go that day. Solan looked at his daughter and sighed, the one time that Vulps and his kid come around its to go get an Ashlan and for Evania to overhear. "Angel, you know i..." He sighed and looked at Vulpesen for a moment before looking at Evania again. "OK we can go along but i dont want you to get your hopes up, also i want you to know that if a wolf wants to be your friend, you can never hurt or betray it... they are more than just a simple person or friend, in some ways it will know you better and be closer to you than i ever can be. Ok?" He stared at his daughter and smiled as he ran a hand over her face to push her hair back. He normally only advocated for this for students that make it to knight but Vulpesen seemed to be bond happy lately.

With+ Vulpesen cast his glance out the view port as the forested surface of Myrkr stretched out before him. "Wake up kid we're there." He started down to the surface of the planet eventually deciding it was time to ignore the hitchhikers on his ship. "You know Solan, its polite to warn someone before joining on a family joy ride."
