Lily felt eyes on her, even as the other two swept through the rest of the area like angels of death.

Before she could straighten up from the panel, she felt Hal's hand on her shoulder.

"You good?"

Her brow furrowed slightly. This was hardly the time to be all human. But she turned slightly to look at him nonetheless.
"Why d'you ask?" she asked him. It was definitely odd that he would ask her that in the middle of a high risk op.

There was no rational reason to not back off and get on with the business at hand. Especially when every little mistake here could mean fending off against a whole facility worth of soldiers. The Imperial's advance into Tion depended on SCAR's success today and yet, Hal Vaiken defied what was rational.

"You look... different." he paused, almost considering stepping away.

Almost.

"It haunts you, doesn't it?"

Time wasn't exactly on their side.

But his words held merit. A SCAR Trooper not on their A-game was a liability, after all. But ever since that day she had pulled the trigger on her father, Hal had been different as well. More human.

Roles had been reversed in the most brutal of ways.

Her eyes glanced in the direction the other two had disappeared into before looking back at him, sighing through her nose.
"Will I get ISB on my case again if I say yes?" she asked him softly.

Hal stared at her in silence before forcibly pulling the cord of his comms, breaking the imperials' code of conduct. He lived and breathed the Empire but nothing in his actions indicated even a slim hint of hesitation.

"No." he stated, then placed both hands on the side of her arms and sighed. "...look -- last thing I want is you going suicidal during missions."

"Not for the Empire, Lily..." his voice trailed off before adding. "I don't want to lose another good soldier." it was the best Vaiken could muster, the deeper meaning could be found in the softer tones of his voice.

Did she really seem that far gone?

Concern seemed to bleed from his hands has he gripped her arms and he spoke.

Would she really go suicidal? Do you know if you're that far gone? Then she realised she was still drinking meds just to be able to sleep. If she didn't, her father's emotion-filled plea kept plaguing her quiet moments. All the people she had killed, but her father was the one that haunted her.

She gave a resigned sigh. She knew that even if she did consider ending it, this man in front of her would ride to hell and back for his soldiers. He'd drag her ass back to the land of the living just to kick it. But she caught the tone in his voice nonetheless.
"You won't." she said softly, briefly bringing up a hand to softly cup his elbow while he was still gripping her upper arms. "I'm too angry to die anyway." she added a bit louder coupled with the attempt of a smirk before moving her hand to land a lighthearted punch against his chest.

"We got work to do, Sarge. Stop worrying about me and worry more about the two stooges."

Keep calm and smile, Stevens.

'This one's coming back with us! We're also fortunate the Blacksite isn't too far away, so this next part should be quiet enough for comfort.... Hoping this,"Angel", brings along quick transports though, would be ideal for the sort of route we're running after this.'
Great, make-up intel. They could get the hell out of here now.

Sylus ducked back down under the counter and moved towards the back of the bar. In the half a minute since the fight had started, about a dozen men had gone down, but more were coming in. If there was ever any doubt the fight was a hit, it was gone now.

From Sylus' position, he had a good shot at flanking more of the assailants, but he knew the priority right now was to get out with actionable intel and link up with Angel's incoming support. He recalled the pre-mission map and the routes into and out of the place already mapped out. No way they would go out the front. But the side exit...

<"I'm opening up exfil vector three,"> he called into this comms, hoping the others could hear.

<"Stand by for a moving defense towards vector.">

Sylus broke from cover and dashed the short distance to the door. There was little cover between it and the counter, and he felt a blaster bolt hit him square in the shoulder. While the underpowered shot, his padded clothing and enhancements would allow him to survive it, it still kicked like a mule, sending him tumbling. One of his feet found purchase against the floor even as he fell, allowing him to push himself forward while in the air, barreling into and breaking through the door in a shower of splinters.

<"Exit open!"> He called out, taking cover by the door frame and firing with the scattergun again.

Her touch alleviated enough concern to draw a small smirk on his face. "Then stay angry, Reaper." there was a spark of hope in there somewhere and when this mission was done and dusted, Hal knew he had to do all that he could to keep it alive. And to his surprise, none of the reasons concerned the Empire.

"Meet us at the double doors leading to the nest." he split away to check on the works of Stalker and Rook. The sergeant hurried down the corridor, eyeing the offices the two SCAR troopers had cleared.

:: SCAR, this is Witness -- be advised, power's gonna kick back in a minute. Section leading up to the nest's hot with soldiers. :: overwatch's voice cracked through the rudimentary comms.

:: How hot, Witness? ::

:: Platoon hot. ::

By the Emperor.

:: Copy that, Witness. :: Sarge replied as he nearly stumbled into the large frame of Stalker. He sized her up and down, somehow for the first time realizing she was way beyond his height. "You wearing heels or something, soldier?--" he narrowed his eyes catching a glimpse of a card in her hand. "--I'll be damned, Stalker, think we might save the thermite for another day. That access key should get us through the double doors without much fuss. C'mon, let's get your new friend Rook and hit the nest."

They turned back down the large corridor leading to the double doors at the end where Reaper was already, only stopping to gather Rook from one of the adjacent offices on the way. "What? Found something you like, kid? Come on, let's go." he gestured for Gavyn to follow.

"Y'all heard Witness -- blackout's about to be over so we're going all guns blazing. Section after these doors ain't too different than this one, except that it's gonna be brimming with Tionese sons of bitches. Lots of them, too. End of the road's a large blast door leading into the cybersecurity's servers -- the nest. Reaper slicing their network a minute ago got us the access code. She'll open the blast doors and slice into the servers, get all the intel we need from the facility then we're out." he explained before turning around to face the double doors and taking point, rifle pressed hard against his shoulder. "We move as a wedge. Reaper, Stalker, take my flanks. Rook, since you love blasting so much, drop behind and spray that cover fire till that barrel melts. There's a platoon waiting behind these doors, we'll have one shot to get to the nest before soldiers start filling up the area from our rear."

The lights began to flicker.

"Open that door, Stalker." he pulled the NV goggles up and flexed the finger on his trigger.

As the door slid open with a hiss and the power was restored to the facility, he had one order to utter before all hell broke loose.

"Weapons free."

Margo’s fingers found purchase on an access card in the officer’s jacket pocket. She arose to her full height just as Sarge rounded the corner. He narrowed his eyes as he said:

"You wearing heels or something, soldier?--"

Reflexively, Margo scoffed. “Pfft, in this outfit? Please.”

A sly grin lined her features as she followed in step with Vaiken as they went back the way they came. Gavyn fell in step alongside them as they met up with Reaper, and Sarge outlined the plan.

Wordlessly, Margo flicked the switch on her slugthrower rifle to full auto, and when Vaiken gave her the green light to open the door, she quickly rushed over to the door and swiped the access card through the reader. The doors delayed a moment, but shortly thereafter hissed open. Margo wasted little time falling in as the group moved forward; her rifle up and trigger finger ready as they surged through.

The Empire’s wrath, who would not be denied.
