Name: Slythghoul
Designation: Semi-sentient (to a degree)
Homeworld: Frozen Moon
Language: Does not have a language per se, communicates through screeches
Average height of adults: 1.8 meters
Skin color: Gray to dirty white
Hair color: Has no hair
Breathes: Breathes Type I atmosphere

Strengths:

+ Extremely tough hide (Caused by the virus mutagen stripping parts of the original supply of iron and calcium in the victim's body and mutating the skin cells with these nutrients to create a skin that is incredibly tough and armor-like. Cannot be cut or stabbed with a normal blade, can take a few blaster bolts. Lightsabers and heavier weapons can still go right through them with no problem)

+ Increased Strength (Caused by the virus mutagen increasing the muscle fibers in the body, strengthening them by mutating the fat cells of the victim into muscle cells)

+ Razor sharp claws and teeth (Caused by the virus mutagen repurposing the keratin in a subject's hair to the fingers and toes to create claws and teeth that can tear through flesh with no problem. Cannot penetrate most armors, except things like leather)

+ Infectious scratch and bite (Virus can be spread from a single bite or scratch from the victim)

+ Heightened Predatory senses (Caused by the virus mutagen repurposing the nerves that go to the eyes and shifting their signals and cells to the ears and sense of movement. Can sense most tiny movements and sounds)

+ Incurable (Once a subject is infected, the virus within their body triggers a subprogram in its RNA that if tampered with in any way, the viral cells will begin to duplicate in random ways, creating half replications of the viral core code, and enhancing the antigen region of the virus. Only way to develop a cure is to obtain an original sample of the new virus.)

Weaknesses:

+ Susceptible to fire (Fire and extreme heat begins to melt their skin, reducing their ability to resist damage. Fire will also kill them quite quickly and easily)

+ Blind (they are unable to actually see their prey, relying on sound and detecting movement. A wily opponent can use this to their advantage by generating sounds or faking movement to draw them into a position where they can be attacked)

+ Susceptible to Force Light and other light side techniques

+ Sunlight kills them (In a strange mutation, ultraviolet light and radiation will immediately kill the creature)

+ Constantly need sustenance in the beginning stages (Due to the virus repurposing both iron and calcium in creating the creature, they are extremely ravenous and require meat to survive. If they do not find a suitable meal within an hour or two, they will die, meaning they can and will attack one another if no other prey is left.)

Distinctions:

Bodies are thin, almost skeletal, as nutrients and cells are repurposed by the virus to increase muscle mass and density. Hands and feet have been adapted by the virus to become clawed and each digit is now tipped by a razor sharp and infectious claw. Teeth have become more pointed and elongated and also can convey the virus into victims if bitten. Eyes are white as during the transformation, the nerve endings to the eyes have been relegated by the virus to boost hearing, causing the bleeding from the eyes and loss of sight. Almost all gender identifying features are eliminated by the virus as it changes the body into its desired state, and hair is loss completely. Limbs become longer to give them better reach and allow climbing surfaces to be easier.

The virus mutates a victim incredibly fast, but if one is able to cut off the infected limb within a minute or so of being scratched or bitten, there is a high chance of the victim avoiding becoming one of the monsters themselves.

Average Lifespan: 50 years from transformation
Races: No other races
Estimated Population: Several thousand
Diet: Carnivores
Communication: Beyond screeches, they have no means of communicating
Culture: No culture
Technology level: Is not sentient enough to use technology

General behavior:

As their entire personality before transformation is wiped away by the virus, including memories, the creatures are left with only an incredibly sadistic and cruel predatory nature. Their primary goal is to spread the new virus to any sentient prey they encounter, but if they are in sufficient numbers, they will switch to another directive: kill and feed on any remaining prey. The creatures will resort to rather brutal methods of killing their victims, favoring the use of their claws and teeth to quickly eviscerate their prey.

They can and will track their prey from afar, especially if they feel it might be tougher to bring down (such as a Jedi or armored figure). Often solitary hunters, they will band together into larger bands to attack stronger prey. Once that prey is defeated however, the creatures are apt to turn on each other to see which will claim the meal.

They will never come out during the daylight, as ultraviolet radiation and light will kill them. Thus, they tend to stick to the shadows and the darkness, favoring night time to hunt or infect beings or places where light cannot reach them such as caves or buildings.

History:

Fascinated by the old tales of Karness Murr and the rakghoul plague he unleashed on the galaxy, Eldaah Aderyn, otherwise known as the First Daughter, began searching and researching the ancient Sithspawn virus. Her hope, and directive in a sense, was to create a new strain of the virus that could be used by the Sith against their enemies. More specifically, for her to use against her enemies in the course of her duties.

Her search led her to dispatching her probe droid to the world of Taris to obtain a sample of the original virus from the rakghouls that still existed, deep in the ruined sections of the planet. In the course of her research, she discovered a passing reference to a Tionese scientists who was able to create and replicate the rakghoul virus in a laboratory on Ord Mantell. Traveling to a quarantined island in the Ord Mantellian ocean, she encountered a crazed scientist who was trying to replicate his ancestor's work, unleashing his creations against her. The scientists and his creations were killed, but not before Eldaah was able to retrieve a great deal of data from the scientist and take several specimens back to her own lab on a distant frozen moon in the Unknown Regions for study.

Kidnapping and bringing together some of the more brilliant and unscrupulous virologists and biological weapons experts, she created a team to help her replicate the virus through alchemy and science. Needing test subjects to test their new creation, however, Eldaah hired a Duro bounty hunter to bring her the first subjects/victims of the new rakghoul virus her team had developed.

The resulting creature was a wiry, almost skeletal, monster that had armor-like skin and claws and teeth that could shred flesh and spread her virus. Wanting to make sure some goody good Jedi could defeat her virus, she made sure the virus couldn't be tampered with once a subject was infected. Still, all of this was well and good... but she wanted a larger testing ground and a test to see just how the virus would stack up against one of the galaxy's brightest minds when it came to combating viral and mutagenic outbreaks.

Inserting herself into the primary hospital in one of Kulthis's isolated towns, she began the first controlled outbreak of her new virus. The primary reasons she chose the site of her testing was that Doctor Morlin, a premier virologist was currently in the town of Yuranth, and the town hosted one of the planet's Holonet hubs. She wanted a distress signal to reach the Silver Sanctum, to draw in a Jedi and test them against her creations. One Jedi, Jedi Master Connor Harrison, responded to the call after the outbreak had wiped out nearly the entire town, turning most of the residents into the new monsters.

Harrison was able to link up with the survivors in the medical center, but his arrival prompted Eldaah and her droids to deactivate the security and unleashed the monsters. Only she and Harrison survived, he because of his Jedi training and skills, and Eldaah because the creatures could not and would not attack her. When created, she had made sure that, while they could be commanded through the dark side of the Force, only a very specific pheromone that she alone exuded could completely control them. Harrison was allowed to flee Kulthis, because unknowingly, one of her droids was stowed away on his ship and would spread the virus to wherever he stopped next after leaving.

That turned out to be the planet of Galidraan, in Silver Sanctum space, where the local Sanctum outpost was completely overrun with the monsters. Harrison led a Jedi strike team to clear out the new rakghouls, but the virus had alreayd spread to the planetary capital. The world would need to be placed under quarantine, the infected areas cleansed to save the planet, all while Eldaah watched from afar and began to plan her next test.

My only real question is about the virus spreading to the non-infected. Lets say one is scratched on the forearm. Can one hack off their forearm to save themselves from being infected? Is it similar to the Walking Dead? Hershel gets his leg cut off and lives. Dale in the comics gets his leg cut off but misses the window, infecting himself and cannibals.

Is there a window? What is a percentage rate of success if there is such a window (i.e. 33%)?

You would have maybe a minute to lop off said limb before the virus has traveled too far into the body. Never actually came up, although it starts mutating a victim rapidly, so yeah maybe a minute or two. Would you like me to add that in somewhere?
